Looking for a stable WvW server
We don’t know who is middle road, the standings have been lopsided due to 24hr timing.
Right now most of the competent PvP guilds have flocked to a handful of servers, even if you are middle of the road, if you get drawn against one of the top servers you will get annihilated because there is a massive variance in terms of dedication, organisation and coordination in WvW.
I would have said my server, Sea of Sorrows, was middle of the road and bumped up in terms of ranking during the 24hr battles due to the off-peak TZ participation but we are getting nailed by one of the top 4 servers.
We just don’t have any competent PvP guilds leading the way. If the big PvP guilds had some stones and had enough pride to be the only major PvP guild on the server and spread out then all servers could be relatively even.
Some people value winning ahead of pride or fun though.
you reverse things. When a known pvp guild or alliance move somewhere, you have guilds and solo players following them by suceeding waves and 3 weeks later you ll have the same server as before with a different name
Nothing is stable as long as free, no cooldown world transfers are a thing.
Main: Hunter.

Touche.
i have to disagree with some.
some servers are right now very middle of the road. I’m on Yaks and was on Aspenwood during the beta. Moved to Yaks because of shorter queues and i like the guilds that play there.
In any case.. neither yaks or aspenwood have insane queue times or are in any real danger of ending up in a bottom 3 or top 3 matchup any day soon.
some things are subject to change, moreso as long as free transfers are around..
but transfers don’t retain guild bonuses that a lot of people worked hard for, and for that most of the more organized groups are pretty much sitting where they are gonna be.. its the filler pug types that are flipping servers every other hour (for the most part).
i think its a very very far stretch of the imagination to think Yaks is going to be beating HOD or losing to Ferguson’s Crossing any time soon. it and several other servers are very middle of the road.
If you play in NA time zone – take a look at Isle of Janthir and Sea of Sorrows. These are the 4th and 5th ranked servers – currently no queues during NA prime. These two servers enjoy a great Oceanic and Asian “night capping” crew.
If you play in Oceanic/Asian prime time – take a look at Crystal Desert, Blackgate, and Gate of Madness.
I believe the way it works now – the first 4 servers (HoD, ET, SI, and JQ) have 24 hr coverage and NA Prime Time queues. The next two servers (SoS and IoJ) have 16 hour coverage these include NA Prime Time and Oceanic/Asian. However SoS and IoJ currently do not have NA Prime Time queues and need guilds to stack for NA Prime and competing against the top 4 servers. The next 3 servers (Crystal Desert, Gate of Madness, and Blackgate) have NA queues and 8 hour coverage basically just NA Prime Time. SoS and IoJ beat down these servers because of our Asian/Oceanic playerbase and we play them even on NA prime even when outnumbered.
Great time to move over to IoJ or SoS at the moment if you are looking for 0 WvW queues and play NA prime time slot.
If long term WvW is important to you than also keep in mind that, along with free transfers, in the next 2 to X months to come the rankings will be changing a lot as players get bored and leave the game.
I’m not kittening about population at all here, I am just stating a fact. A lot of players will be leaving the game as they get bored, and the WvW rankings will be changing a lot. In other words, today’s victors may easily be tomorrow’s fallen. If you feel your server has a community that is in it for the long haul, then stay with them.

Thanks for all the feedback guys and gals. You have given me a lot to think about.
Im afraid we’ll need more information.
When does your guild routinely play?
I know right now on fort aspenwood there’s a sweet spot at around 3pm EST where the queues are short to non-existant and there are actually enemies prowling about (its when they start to retake their things)
But after about 5pm my guildies have reported 1-2hour queues.
Obviously the night time has no queues, but also a real dearth of enemies to face. Rall had an outmanned buff in their own borderlands last night :\
Also no one really knows what will be happening next week. The brackets change today (heh, 3 minutes past minute at time of this post) so no one knows if there will be “fair” matchups this time.
my advice:
wait it out, see how the next bracket goes. Then if you are unsatisfied, look to finding a new server again, but make sure to post your general playtimes, so people can assist you more easily.
