Hi
I’ve not been playing very long and currently on Whiteside Ridge.
I joined a guild but nobody seems to chat and it looks like the leader is leaving anyway due to rl issues.
I really wanted to play wvw when i bought the game but when i join i feel very lost.
We seem to dominate now GH have moved up and the server is friendly but i’m wondering if i’m best moving somewhere else.
Am i right in thinking if we do win the tier we might not go up? I’m a bit confused about the whole thing:P
I don’t want to join a top tier realm but i was looking at Ruins or Surmia because they seem a good wvw server in a lower tier and a medium pop.
I’m just looking for a server and guild where the wvw is organised and we don’t totally suck and where people chat sometimes and maybe do some pve.
Any recommendations?

We have few old WSR guilds. We have server wide mumble. Server wide events few times a week. We have lots of guilds who do pve and WvW.

Anvil’s Last Stand [ALS] is a nearly full guild on Anvil Rock, a server which is competitive in its tier. ALS has ~30 players online at our weakest hour, and ~100 at our strongest, with ~200 logging in daily.

I bought GW2 specifically for WvW, and because I was impressed by the underwater combat videos on YouTube, having been a GW1 player for over 7 years.

To answer your question about server ranking:

It’s possible that winning a tier may move a server into the next tier, but this is dependent upon the accrual of points for that server in the current match up, versus the other servers’ scores. The GW2 modified Glicko 2 rating system forces servers to show actual points performance over time to improve their ranking relative to all other servers. Winning 1st place in a tier by a very small margin, like Anvil Rock did in last week’s match, can cause what happened in our tier: We won the week, but remained 2nd place in the tier due to Borlis Pass’ higher rating which held over from their previous weeks in the tier above ours. This is because according to recent points history for Borlis Pass, Anvil Rock, and Northern Shiverpeaks, the Glicko 2 formula still calculates that Borlis Pass is likely to perform better than the servers below it.

I’m speaking for RoS here.
We at RoS had some transfers lately thanks to which we were able to tier up.
We are currently restructuring to fight at our maximum potential. We are hard fighters who don’t give up.
We aren’t looking to become one of the superservers and getting to top tier. Our aim is the mid-tiers. We usually don’t have queues unless we pull everyone into 1 map which happens sometimes of dire situations.
If you’re a zergling, there will be zergs for you to follow, if you like ninja squads or small-scale fighting, we have some small guilds such as mine who like to do some sneaky actions.
We also have all kinds of guilds over here, many are WvW oriented.
I personally have a small-mid guild of WvW players who are very enthusiastic about it. There are other guilds like mine such as GoA, or there are bigger guilds that you might prefer. If you’re a mix of PvE and WvW then we also have guilds for you.
But the PvE section is lower than most but you can do guesting when it comes.

In short, our server would love to have you here. If you need a guild of active players, you can always whisper me.

Oh and about WSR’s current situation: It is true that you might not be able to tier back up unless another server (blacktide maybe ?) loses many points.

I switched to RoS.
Only played for about 30 or 40 mins but there was a lot of nice fights going off and seems more balanced looking at the map.
I didn’t know i could stay in my guild if i switched servers and play on WSR when guesting becomes available , so i learned something new and found a good wvw server tonight.
