Guild Wars 2

Ive been gone for nearly a year now and decided to revisit the game. I’m posting this here because I’m looking to transfer servers to an active WvW server. My question is which server would be a good choice?

I live in western Canada so it will have to be NA based.

Also kind of a side question, how much has changed since the Halloween event last year?

Nothing significative, except that everyone in NA is now stacking on T2.

In my opinion if you are more into smaller scale fights you should consider lower tier servers like t5 down to t8. I would say theres a decent amount of activity in every server based on your particular interests and knowledge of wvw. The one thing I would recommend is regardless of if you transfer or not you should consider joining a wvw based guild. At least for me it really changed the way I played the game and what I thought about wvw.

After a while, I became more and more irritated with the game mode following a ppt oriented commander just wasn’t exciting you focus more on doors than fights. I preferred small scale group fights roaming, and havoc squads so once I joined a guild that catered to that interest, suddenly wvw became a gamemode I always look forward to logging on to day after day.

When I did play I had a small squad of guildmates that did exactly what you were talking about. About a dozen of us or so would run around and supporting the zerg ball by doing other objectives.. Lots of fun.

But since that was a long time ago, My guild is gone and well Maguuma was never really strong WvW. Unless things have changed I think now is a perfect time to find a new server to start basically over (well almost)

I don’t know what you talking about… Everyone seens to praise the SoS/Mag/FA trio as the best place to be in all tiers… I personally like my backwater server tho.

This guys is right about the score fixing. One server is too big, one server is too small so they fix the scores to keep the same 3 playing together. If your not into that you might want to look elsewhere. Not much choice other than T1 if you can get in.

It’s an exciting time to be a Rallian! The SoR Community now stands united in its goal to create the best playing environment for all Rallians as Hardocre WvWers, PvE casuals and flexible PvXers have come together to run server wide events in PvE, WvW and Server forums.

For those who like a good dose of PvE, story and farming; our guilds run events such as but not limited to daily Tequatl, bi-weekly server community guild mission runs and even special server wide activities such as “Tier 5 in Dry top” for farming.

SoR WvW is cooperative and non-toxic. We do not currently have the coverage of much higher ranked servers at the moment but you can rest assured that when you log on there will be tags ready to lead the growing Rallian presence which has welcomed its new friends who have been looking for a good community to permanently call home and old friends trickling back from long breaks or from upper tiers who just missed the good times they had in the community.

Participation in Server community activities is encouraged and rewarded with raffle prizes such as full armor sets (periodically) and even legendaries (GTA). As of writing SoR is ranked 18 and on the rise, who knows what the future holds, but take comfort in that when the times comes the men and women who will stand shoulder to shoulder with you and with whom you will most assuredly enjoy your time with will be experienced, dedicated and Rallian.

If you’re in Western Canada and tend to play late NA (I’m on the US West Coast for example), you are better off playing in a higher tier server, like staying on Maguuma. Lower tier servers tend to have less people playing late nights and matching up against a server with better coverage during non-prime NA hours tends to feel empty. Otherwise if you play during NA prime lower tier servers aren’t that bad.

On changes since you’ve been gone, in PvE they nuked L.A., woke a new Dragon, opened up Maguuma (ongoing), and changed how living world works, etc.

Mechanicswise dyes don’t drop out of plants anymore but theirs a stockpile of the stuff in TP anyways, then they changed how your character skins work.

In PvP they changed the system of rewards and now you can get stuff usable for PvE and WvW now but got rid of most of the PvP specific stuff including the currency, plus there’s the new track which is nice.

In WvW Season 2 came and went giving ho-hum “prizes”, a good number of “balancing” (aka nerfing) came about so you better update your build as necessary, Some changes to WvW based skills and looks like they’ll grant resets for that every pre-season.
