Lower the Rank Requirement for Armor
The 2k rewards arent for new players. #notyourpvecandy
If I could upvote, I would
IMHO they need to RAISE the requirement to at least 3k on the T3 armor. It is a reward for those who have actually put in the time/effort, not for those wanting a new shiny. There needs to be something that distinguishes veteran WvW players from fair-weather players with entitlement issues.
If you want the T1 Triumphant armor set, you can already get it easy enough through the WvW rewards track. It should take you about 2 weeks to get a full set, tops.
Because you haven’t deserved. It’s reward for playing the game mode properly. I want legendary armour, but I hate raiding, so maybe ANET should lower the amount of LI we need for them? No, because you have to achieve it. You want to get those skins, go play WVW to get them. But people like in PVP, they just come for item and ruining game mode like this.
We have huge queues in WvW due to new players wanting those skins, lately numbers dropped as they noticed it will take a lot of time. Those skins are rewarded for playing game mode, not just to get it because you like it.
And entry rank should be at least 200 in wvw, depending on server.
Im not against the concept of playing to get the reward but anyone who can use a calculator knows that the grind to get ascended armor in WvW is far too high compared to sPvP or PvE and If you think that wasting hundreds if not thousands of hours of your life just to get 6 virtual items on the screen is something that should be rewarded, I find it an insult to human intelligence and an achievement that people should be ashamed of.
If grinding (by grinding I mean playing mostly wvw for few years) is a problem for you just because you prioritize lets say PVE, why are you so interested in those skins? They look good? Play for them. If playing to get something many hours is insulting and you aren’t interested in spending those hours, well, you shouldn’t target those skins.
Many people are playing only WvW and pvp time to time, many people are spending thousands of hours in wvw in last 4 years. Yes, they have deserved to have something you don’t have. If you aren’t interested in WvW…well, leave a queue and allow to play for those who are interested.
I like how you act like rank 2000 which is way to much is the only valid recognition of wvw commitment. As though rank 1000 isnt a stupid amount of playtime in wvw as is.
The amount of grind to rank up in order to get some ascended amor skins is far too high compared to other game modes and even to legendary items.
Gameplaywise, there is no point of getting more than rank 1000 because all WvW abilities are upgraded. Anet simply made the +1000 WvW ranks to reward the people who still rank up past this level with some loot and fancy titles as a small motivation to keep them playing.
While spending Tomes of knowledge to rank up is good idea to help players get the abilities and let them make a good use of the extra tomes, some ‘EotM-exp-farmers’ and ‘elitists’ keep coming in zergs to attack it because they think that if you do not spend +500 hours grinding levels you do not deserve ‘to get that armor’ like they did.

I think rank 1k is more then enough especially because all of your wvw skills are already maxed. Is it playing properly when i rank up in eotm? What is playing wvw properly anyways? How about all those people who exploited eotm when it came out to get rank 2k+ in one month and anet let them keep it after they patched it? Did they play it properly? because now they are rewarded.
Like one commander said. “We already mastered karma training in EB, borderlands and now EotM” (or something). People could easily make zerg in lower tiers that could go and cap everything without any kind of problems, but people just using totally random builds, run like headless chickens and whine about EotM.
Seafarer’s Rest EotM grinch
I’ll be so disappointed if Anet caves and lowers the requirements. It will take away the value of it.

My point here is when you look at PvP or PvE you’ll find that players (old or new) get ascended items with unique skins after spending a reasonable amount of time in that mode, but WvW requires you to spend up to x100 times effort to get the skins of that game mode. When Anet puts these requirements to get the skins it only makes grinding look cool and makes new players who do not want to go into endless grind stay away from WvW.
I unederstand what you’re trying to say about rewarding the vets but Anet is doing it the wrong way. The best example I can think of to solve this is what WoW or Hearthstone does to reward veteran players:
With the start of each month/seaon there is a new unique armor to get. If you spend time X or reach rank Y during this season you will get the unique skins but if you don’t play you won’t get it. This is the correct way reward loyal players and keep them playing regularly without complaining about grind.

The 2k rewards arent for new players. #notyourpvecandy
what makes you think i pve only? I fully intend to grind to 2k, but i think its really gross and wrong. when I get to 2k I will remember to come back and reiterate on how i thought the grind is disgusting and is very unfair to new players or anyone else who has gotten used to the casual play style of gw 2. I really hope they do lower this, If i wanted to play a grindy mmo I would go play black desert online, or go back to final fantasy 11 the king of all grindy games where I started. So calling me a pve noob is not only not true, I would question whether you even have any idea how grindy an mmo can become.
furthermore why do you even defend it? If they lowered it to 1k it would not affect you at all, you would still get it. Acting like it cheapens your prestige is a joke since wvw rank is most associated with pvd not actual wvw zerg, havoc, or roaming which I would argue is the heart and soul of wvw. So why do you care?
I wil explain you mighht get it you might not.
1. Anet knows how long it takes. Thats why these rewards arent for fairweathers or candy seeking pve’ers. The rank wasnt set as a goal post for noobs it was a reward for vets. I fully believe that and I think alot of others do as well.
2. If you accept 1 then you can understand that a reward is based on value and value on an individual level is preception and access, rarity. If you reduce rank requirment you reduce rarity amd you reduce the reward. So its kinda like you are coming into a job as a new employee and asking the boss to lower the bonuses being given to faithful employees that helped build the company.
3. If you understand 2 you might understand that despite my high rank and ability to get these shinies I will likely never put in that kind of effort outside of wvw. If it happens great. I have sold every precursor I have been given to pay for sieg a to the guild to build siege. It bothers me because I understand how given 1 people feel happy and how you asking for #2 craps on their cake and in reality only to benefit your desire to seek a reward that wasnt intended for players that had not or will not play the game mode but instead want to grind the game mode. And these people in #1 are my comrades whom I have fought with, for ,and against for the last 4 years and even though I dont give a kitten I am here defending their right to do so.
4. If you dont get 3 you dont get wvw.

How is this not fair, we Wvwers work hard for years and rank up, and 1 pver comes in couple of days and gets the same gear as everyone else?! it should be higher, for Platinum and up, let the old experienced players look a bit different with that t3, and you guys still have 2 more tiers that u can get. I really wish they did a tier for every part, from Bronze to Diamond, change in colors and effects or even the look of it.
1 day is hyperbole. It will take years to hit that and I don’t think its healthy game design to add ANY rewards that require years to accomplish. None of us know what stage in our life we will be in within the next year or two. Many players who are currently hardcore may have jobs, kids, and life activities that cause them to quit the game. Goals that take years to accomplish are a big deal. People will put more effort into this armor than many people put into getting their bachelors degree…. How is that good for a game? Make the rewards take 4-6 months for average players to attain and maybe 3-5 weeks for hardcore players. That’s a great balance that would award the hardcore players while still giving a reasonable goal to the average player who is excited about the game mode due to new cool rewards.
What I am trying to say, is that it is nice to give those ppl that worked hard for years something unique and special, not like everyone else, thats why they made 3 different tiers.
I still don’t understand this attitude. You would still get the unique WvW rewards if the rank requirement was lowered.
Plus, again just look at the corresponding PvE and PvP rewards. Anyone, literally anyone, could jump into the game as soon as those rewards were released and earn them in the same amount of time as someone who had been playing since release. This is the standard that ANet themselves imposed on the game. So why are so many people ok with this not applying to WvW as well? I really don’t understand it. When leg armor was announced, anyone could go and earn it, they didn’t need to spend thousands of hours in PvE to get whatever the PvE equivalent of WvW rank 2,000 would be, they could earn the stuff for leg armor at the exact same rate as someone who had been playing since launch and had all their characters in full ascended gear already with 30k AP. When the Ascension was announced, anyone and everyone could progress towards it at the same rate, with the biggest timegate being your individual player skill.
Why are you people ok with WvW rewards not working the same way? This is not the reward model that Anet has imposed on the rest of the game. There is no reason for the WvW rewards to be locked behind such a ridiculous rank requirement, none.
Could not have said it better myself. The rank requirements are bs tbh..
The reason being, WvW spent many years having no such rewards that both PvE and PvP had. What you see is a reward for players who actually spent the time in WvW (screaming for better rewards for years), that others won’t get unless they put in the time.
I’d say there is less than a 5% chance that Anet will lower the requirements. They might release additional tears, but certainly what you see at 2K range will not change.
The way I see it though, given the influx of PvE’ers on the map at the moment, lack of experience, lack of knowledge of builds, new commanders who havn’t quite grasped that WvW isn’t a simple EoTM K-train, getting things done to earn those rewards is dreadfully slow. Because of this, even if they lowered the rank to like 500 or even 200, it will take the newbies forever to reach it.
I watched for about 4hrs today, our group lose their towers in their 3rd of the map, regain them after a few tries, attempt to take a tower in another third of that map, get run over, then consequently lose all their towers again, rinse and repeat. The problem, our group outnumbered the others about 1.5 to 1, yet couldn’t win a single fight. I watched a tower lord go down in 5-6 seconds, then it hit me, the zerg is full of peeps wearing zerker gear, that’s why we can’t win.
I’m sure those who choose to stick around will get things eventually, but the new people in WvW need to understand, nothing is a cakewalk; there is no K-train, and the organized guild groups who run, won’t simply let you take your stuff back. Your progress is going to be beyond dreadfully slow, even if the rank requirement dropped to 200.

Not truth. I have created new account as I have returned to game, my previous account was lvl 1500+, however I have played mostly wvw when there were no ranks. Now in almost 5 hours I have reached lvl 60.

ume that you are:
1. Trying to hit Diamond box every week.
2. Earning, on average, 2 ranks per hour (doable solo campwhacking without bday or xp boosters).
3. Coming second-place on every tick. You are not receiving Outmanned and you are not Commanding.
4. The point at which tickets no longer hold value for you is the point at which you have unlocked all T2 armor skins of one weight, T3 armor skins of one weight, and half a dozen weapons (total cost of 6030 tickets, which takes 35 weeks to earn).
5. You are not interested in the legendary backpiece.
We know:
1. You need 1450 pips a week in order to clear the Diamond box.
Therefore, we know you will gain the following number of pips per tick/per hour, with rank and winning pips:
Wood: 2/24.
Bronze: 3/36.
Silver: 4/48.
Gold: 5/60.
You will gain 12 extra pips per hour after the third week.
To complete your Diamond box while wood, you will need to spend 60 hours in WvW, and therefore gain 120 ranks.
Early in the second week, you hit bronze. You take roughly 45 hours in WvW to hit the Diamond box in this week. Rank 210.
Third week, you take 40 hours. Rank 300.
Fourth week, you gain the Loyalty bonus, and are now gaining 48 pips per hour. It will take you 30 hours per week to open the Diamond box, and therefore gain 60 ranks each week.
It takes you five weeks & two days to reach Silver, at which point your hours needed drops to 25 per week, and therefore gain 50 ranks per week. This happens in the middle of the 9th week.
It takes you roughly 15 weeks to hit Gold. This puts you in the 24th week. You now take 20 hours to hit Diamond box, and therefore earn 40 ranks per week.
It takes 3 weeks to hit rank 1500. You can now begin purchasing Prestige armor pieces. You are in the 27th week.
Over the next 8 weeks, reaching the 35 week deadline, you earn another 320 ranks, putting you at roughly 1820. You can purchase 4/6 armor pieces.
It takes you another 4 and a half weeks to reach the rank needed to purchase the chestpiece. You will have an excess 875 tickets.
The rank is not an issue in the context of the hours you need to put forward to earn the pips. You may not have all your goals, but they are within reach, and you have already earnt many rewards. There’s a case to be made that the deadline is too strict; it is fair to assume most players have some interest in the backpiece, and players may want more than 6 weapons.
If there is an issue, it is in the amount of time you need to spend playing to even earn the Diamond box. The 30+hour weeks required to earn the diamond boxes as lower ranks are obscene and not tenable for the average player. However, this says nothing about the rank requirements for the prestige armor.

Thanks, Sarrs! The rate of rank-ups you mentioned matched my experience tonight, running with my frontline Tempest where I got 5 ranks in a little over 2 hours, so pretty much 2 per hour when k-training, zerg-chasing, etc., though I was using both the birthday and guild boosters. As for pips, I earned the first 3 wooden chests and was about 1/2 way to the 4th, earning 3-4 pips per tick at bronze level with our server being sometimes in 1st, sometimes in 2nd.
It’s hard to get ranks, they said. This is with only a birthday booster with quite too many playing hours for my taste put you get my point, it will never take two years of playing to get 2k if you just dedicate your time for WvW

I think a lot of people underestimate just how powerful boosters are in WvW. It only takes a handful of effects to get your XP over +200%. Birthday & celebration boosters are massive & their best effect is in WvW since it feeds into everything.
I’m not looking for miracles here. I just want the exotic skins for the Triumphant Hero armor set. But as a parent and full time job holder I have tops maybe 3 hours a day to play the game. This last match-up I earned in total 25 Claim Tickets through the Pip system. At this rate, even getting one exotic armor skin worth 250 Claim tickets is going to take minimum some 4 months approx. And that’s assuming I literally ignore all my friends, guild obligations, etc and literally do nothing but WvW.
It’s asking a bit much, imo.

This is the correct way reward loyal players and keep them playing regularly without complaining about grind.
So, just because I want to have legendary armour, weapons etc. Anet should lower requirements for LI and maybe abolish map completion? First 3 years of my gameplay I was playing only wvw, and I mean only. This is my game mode, we were playing it when others ignoring because of lack of rewards. But people enjoyed it as it’s, we played it. Those people pushed ANET to deliver rewards. I have been laying hardcore PVE for a year, it allowed me to craft 12 legendaries in a year, taking in account all mats collected in those 3 years of WvW. WvW was always a hardcore mode, usually with no reward and it was OK with WvW players. Now, when there are rewards, old players are rewarded, those who been playing wvw are happier as they have target to achieve, just those pve players are crying, because they have to play game mode they don’t like. Rank requirement would be lowered they get it and run away. Skin is like title, a sign of achievement. We aren’t pressuring ANET to make it easier to get GWAMM or to allow to bring any two legendaries for “Twice told legend”? If you like or liked wvw as it’s, you will enjoy playing it to reach those levels without worrying about reward. If you just that one who wants a reward and came to wvw for it…you just making queue longer for those who want to play it and you are not welcomed to wvw community.
BTW, like I said before, this is my new account as I have left game some time ago and decided to return with new account in new server, this account has wvw level 60 and I have long way to skins and I will enjoy it every second. I have abandoned every game mode just for wvw, and hope they would fix balance in this game mode, also will give even harder reached rewards. Raids are for hardcore pvers, wvw is for hardcore kitties!
If the time to get other legendary backpacks were equal this wouldn’t be an issue. This really sets a bad precedent for future items in WvW because they’re essentially devaluing the game play by overhauling the item and its requirements.
It is as good as it is

Majority of wvw players are happy as it’s, just pvers complaining. old wvwers would like to see even rank limit you have to reach before entering main wvw maps.

Majority of players you say? I would love to see on what are you actually basing your statistics…from my experience, in game i havent found a single player who is actually happy about this changes, and is really easy to understand why is that, on its core its extremely unfair and rewards not actual skill on the game, but just how much time are you willing to spend on it, doing the same stuff over and over again. The grind easily put both PvE and PvP to shame, hell you can combine both game modes and yet the time to adquire the rewards are nowhere as time consuming as WvW is.
The whole reward system must be reworked, you shouldnt get extra pips(or whatever the hell those things are called) for your previous work(WvW rank) just as on PvP you didnt get extra pips for being Dragon Rank or on PvE fractals or raids your rewards are not based on your AP.
They should take a look at the WvW Chests too. Considering that they reset on every friday, its safe to assume that a big portion of gamers wont get to the Diamond Chest, and by this missing most of the Reward Tickets. And before someone say that this players should put more effort on it, consider a low rank player on 3º place server…this player will get 2pips every 5 mins, if I remenber someone on the foruns allready did the math, and for this particular case, this player would need to play 9 hours a day, to reach Diamond Chest at the end of the week. Yeah thats right, a player would need to make GW2 WvW his job in order to get the chest, and worst part is that wont even give him a full set of armor, but a single piece. Now take a time and compare this to PvE ascended armor and PvP.
I found it funny that most people are complaining about the rank thing to buy the mistforged armor, but by the time that you have enough tickets to buy a full set of Triumphant armor and then more tickets to buy the Mistforged(probably will need the same number of tickets if not more) you should probably be close of rank 2000.
In conclusion, i am surprised that there are some people that actually not only like the system to be this way, but also think its fair. The fact its that both the armor and backpack wont have any prestige at all, will be seeing by the community as just another skin that have a extremely boring and grindy processes to obtain. Some players will keep playing no matter what, others(Like me) as much as they enjoy the game mode, will get tired of the way Anet treats their playerbase and might left the game and the ones who are in WvW just for rewards, will leave after the first week when they realise that the reward/effort is completely unbalanced.
After all the “pve noobs” left the game mode, people will start complaining again that Anet dosent care about WvW and there nobody to play with and how WvW is dead/dying, etc.

Two things:
1) people vote with their actions. If nobody is happy with the update then why are there queues all over the place? This morning at 10 we had an EBG queue of 30! In the evening all bl’s and EBG have queues of 30 min – 2 hours.
2) people leaving WvW because some of the rewards take a long time to get? Just not happening. The Ultimate Dominator title is out of reach for almost everybody, and no one is comlaining about that.
As a regular WvW Player (Roaming and Guild Raids, no PPT) with a rank of 1290 something, I actually don’t mind that I can’t get the armor yet.
It’s a proper Prestige item of sorts that only really dedicated players got (and ofcourse those who farmed eotm pre-nerf…). I’ve got probably 2k hours in the game mode already and I’ll gladly work towards the rank 2000 mark in the slow but steady way.
Boohoo, suck it up. You’re not entitled to anything.

Majority of wvw players are happy as it’s, just pvers complaining. old wvwers would like to see even rank limit you have to reach before entering main wvw maps.
Majority of players you say? I would love to see on what are you actually basing your statistics…from my experience, in game i havent found a single player who is actually happy about this changes, and is really easy to understand why is that, on its core its extremely unfair ….. snip
You either didnt read everything that i wrote or you are trying really hard to not undestand the issue here.
Yes as we are seeing so far, there are a lot more of players going to WvW right now, happened before with the Tournament. But this is just a short term result, in the long term what we will probably have will be the queues going back to normal. Reason of this is bacause the system is completely unfair. Diamond ranks playing on 1º rank servers will get a reward/effort more balanced(in my opinion still to much effort for little reward) while a new player in a 3º rank world will get a insane reward/effort, like was it was said before, 8~9hours a day to get diamond chest at the end of the week. Guess insane its not even the right word to describe this, and I cant believe that someone actually think this is anywhere near right. Take in consideration that someone who can complete all chest during the week, will still take months to unlock a full set of armor, now imagine a player who cant do that and only have few hours to play the game during the week(family, college, job, etc), and might get at max at silver/gold chest, for this player will take like allmost if not a whole year to get a full set of armor.
You might say that this is fair, but thats not how things work(or shouldnt). This game have 3 game modes, and is important to try to keep some kind of balance between then. When you compare how do you obtain itens(armor, trinkets, backpacks, etc) in PvE and PvP and then compare it with this new reward system in WvW, it becomes really clear that the devs made a huge mistake.
I am mainly a PvP player(Used to play a lot of WvW, but this was long ago), and if during the League, Anet dicided that player that are Dragon Ranks(Its common thing right now, but imagine if this was the old rank system) should get more rewarded then other players, I would say the same thing, after all, the reward for beign a Dragon would be(or should be) have a better knowledge on the game, the maps, professions, etc, so by logic, your win ratio would be higher, would get more pips, progress faster on the Legendary Achievement, etc…but why the same logic cant be applied to WvW? Why cant we have a system that actually reward you for what are doing? Instead of join a squad and get some objectives and then AFK at the spawn, why not make a system that rewards you each time you take “X” number of camps/tower/keeps or kill other players, any kind of activite on WvW, from taking Stonemist to recruiting the NPCs. You do the event and its done, you get your tickets, no need to wait for hours(minutes to some players, whole days for others) to complete that pips nonsense.
Also, you cant compare a title with a skin. Honestly, nobody cares for titles simple as that.
Honestly I would like to see some arguments of the people who are in favor of this….so far what I seen is just things like “I played this game mode longer so I deserve more rewards”(probably abused Edge of the Mist farm).
It’s hard to get ranks, they said. This is with only a birthday booster with quite too many playing hours for my taste put you get my point, it will never take two years of playing to get 2k if you just dedicate your time for WvW
My rate of earning ranks has also increased, but how much of that is really the booster versus the overall increase in WvW activity currently? What will happen when the queues die down and we’re back to the same core players as before, and it takes longer to flip things because they upgrade to T3 more quickly when there aren’t enough people to keep them paper all the time? That’s when the reality of the slow grind kicks back in, as the first part of your chart shows.
If the time to get other legendary backpacks were equal this wouldn’t be an issue. This really sets a bad precedent for future items in WvW because they’re essentially devaluing the game play by overhauling the item and its requirements.

Because a lot of people (and seemingly devs in particular) seem to confuse things people will put themselves through for a reward, with what they ENJOY doing. In a certain other game I did a whole lot of dungeon grinding every week to max out a currency to be able to boost my gear’s stats by 10 iLvls. Did I have to do it? No. Did my guild NEED me to do it? No, we already had everything on farm. Does doing it mean I enjoyed it? No. So why did I do it? Cuz “10 iLvls is shiny dude!” and not doing it would be equaled to “slacking”. People complained about this mechanic like crazy. It was still reintroduced in the next expansion cuz “people loved it last time!”.. No, people did it. They didn’t love doing it. There’s a difference.
Same thing for earning WvW Ranks now. I will get to rank 2000 if I have to, but being on a pretty toxic WvW server I most of the time will not enjoy doing it. I’ve already disabled Team chat cuz it’s so full of hate towards “newbies” and “PvE plebs” and “zomg PvE:ers go k*ll yourselves” nonsense..
And for anyone saying “Well WvW:ers want special things too, they deserve to be rewarded for all their work!”: Does that mean you agree that the next PvE “specific” item requires you to have 20k AP to obtain? You already have WvW specific titles etc.. Now you have some really awesome rewards too (otherwise us “PvE plebs” wouldn’t come into WvW to obtain them).. But you seem to confuse “unique to WvW” with “only super duper hardcore and have been for years should be allowed to have them”. This attitude doesn’t really exist in the other game modes, so I’m a bit confused as to why WvW:ers seems to think they’re such a special group.
I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect new players to get to rank 2000 at the current rate. I don’t think its reasonable to expect years of commitment of my life for a digital game skin. That’s just my opinion as someone with only 150 rank. I’m not even a new player. I’ve been playing since launch. It’s just that I’ve spent time actually playing the other two game modes. You know? PvP and PvE? But you want us to only play wvw for years before we can get the armor…
The more important question here is will people still be playing wvw in a few months when they realize what a futile grind this is? Casuals will give up and wvw will be back to its old problems of low population. But that’s fine as long as you get pips right?
If they really wanted this armor to be exclusively for those die-hard lifetime committed wvw players… They should have made it legendary. Making it ascended is an insult considering the time investment. Ridiculous.
I like how you act like rank 2000 which is way to much is the only valid recognition of wvw commitment. As though rank 1000 isnt a stupid amount of playtime in wvw as is.
Also, iirc 1k is already dramatically beyond the average player’s WvW rank as it is. And even that rank would still take a lot longer to reach than it takes to craft any legendary in the game (including the armor).
I’ll be so disappointed if Anet caves and lowers the requirements. It will take away the value of it.
It will only take away the value if you only care about the skin because other people can’t have it. If you like the skin on its own merits, who else can get it would be irrelevant to you.

This is completely spot on, sums up my entire argument. wvwers complain about low population, then anet makes incentives that are impossible for most to reach, and once those new players realize how impossible it is to get rank 2k they will say screw it and quit. I find this funny, since so many wvwers say “omg the que is horrible right now go back to pve” and then say “wvw gets no attention, nobody plays, my server is deserted.” If they stick ridiculous grinds behind their new rewards don’t worry it will go back to being deserted in no time flat. I would imagine the players you see are going for the back piece, which I think the requirements are fine for, but the ones who want the armor have probably already given up (unless they have like rank 1.5k and are close to 2k.)
The only ones who like it as it is love the game mode and already have the rank requirement and they want it to be “prestigious” which I understand, but this armor is and isn’t prestigious because it is based on wvw rank.
Its prestigious in the sense that right now its kitten near impossible to get if your rank 0 and want to spend 1 1/2 to 2 years (new players don’t have ANY boosters nor do they post on the forums usually) I would say wvw rank is more reflective of dedication now because a lot of exploits have been patched and eotm isn’t really viable anymore.
It feels very cheap and not prestigious however, if you know the history though in that it was so easy to get wvw rank before whether through exploits or just a more active wvw base. I’ve tried multiple times to farm eotm and its usually deserted, so the opportunity’s to get crazy rank ups which a lot of players have already has dried up making the task of getting rank 2k even more impossible.
It would be nice if they would make rank 2000 more reasonable by either lowering the requirement or upping the amount of wvw rank you get. Perhaps bonus weekends where you get double wxp might incentivize new players to not feel like its so daunting.
If they are going to keep it at 2k anet should at least say something like we want this to be prestigious (if there is such a thing in this case). I also agree that if they leave it at 2k, they should make the armor legendary since this armor is the 2nd most time consuming ITEM to get in the game (for some reason no one can figure out), just behind the 30k achievement point skins.
I dunno which is more insulting, the ridiculous grind to rank 2000 for new players, when this game is advertised as a low grind game, or the fact that its prestigious and ultra grindy for wvwers and not legendary. Everyone is offended lol.
this game is no more casual since HOT
I’ll be so disappointed if Anet caves and lowers the requirements. It will take away the value of it.
I think it will be even more disappointing if people give up on the entire game mode because they feel like the grind is too much.
IMO it should either be made cheaper OR made legendary (not both). The current state is practically an asian grindfest, and people are rewarded for afking anyway. Not to mention most of the people who got 2000+ rank did it by exploiting karma trains in EotM before it was nerfed, so where’s the value in that? It’s a joke.

The 2k rewards arent for new players. #notyourpvecandy

What about the scouts, upgraders and yak escorts, keep siegersand tappers, and home BL camp flippers? They will have much lower WvW ranks than someone who ktrains or people who sit between SM and a keep fighting zergs yet they are some of the most important, hardcore and dedicated WvW players in the game.
Why don’t they deserve to be able to purchase the prestige WvW armor when their contribution to a server is often far greater than any one person in a zerg who has a much higher Wxp yield?
It’s not OK that the current rank requirement unfairly disciminates against low Wxp yielding roles in WvW which were already marginalised by WvW rewards. Now many players are having to choose between working towards the rank requirement for the game mode they are objectively hardcore players of, or performing the vital server role they have done up til now with far less reward.

All of the Asian grindfest mmo’s grind for power and its a necessity to grind for power. This grind is for prestige armor, yes it should be legendary armor for the amount of time it take from start to finish. No one needs this armor, some players want it but its not a upgrade in power.
Before news of this update most of the players I seen in wvw were high rank players(silver and above). The commanders I raided with had +2000 rank, the main EB commanders had +5000 rank. I got most of my rank from roaming. flipping camps, kill enemies which I can pick off on my way to a camp/towers.. None of the wvw I know consider Eotm a part of wvw. Wvw was the least profitable game mode why bother playing it past rank 1000 unless you are having fun? When I hit rank 2000 it was around the 2nd wvw tournament, years after that I have only gained 800 ranks. Just saying wvwer that are above rank 2000, this is the main mode they play and enjoy.

Thread is full of ppl that do exactly those things and are sufficient rank. Your main point which you keep reiterating is just not true. Dozens of ppl have already posted in this thread pointing out that they perform those jobs and are fine with rank and rewards. Its in how you play. Using a couple of posts to try amd prove your point only illustrates your propensity to get want you want using someone elses hard work. Do you scout, upgrade towers, walk yaks, and protect camps? You dont know the first thing about what drives these people to do their work. Marginalized? Discriminates? So your fig hting for the disenfranchised now? You’re a server justice warrior? Where were you to campaign against such marginalization and discrimination over the last 4,3,2,1 years? You didnt know it existed? Oh, you were living in pve land until someone told you yoi had mesothelioma and you could get in on this class action lawsuit? Lol you goals are pretty transparent and your actions betray your premise. #notyourpvecandy.

i bet the scouts and escorts who are ok with the rank have been playing wvw since launch, how about some who have only been playing a year or two, I bet they arent in range of 2k.

I was referring to the topic “lower the rank requirement for T3 armor”; something to which I do not agree.
One of your other points I agree with: Veteran players should not get more pips because of more ranks. Apart from that, the pip award system is probably as good a system as is possible, since it is difficult to measure the contribution of a player in wvw.
The time to get the armor or the legendary is long, but that is not very different from similar items. I play casually, and it took me three seasons to get the PvP legendary. In WvW I expect (I’m about rank 2300) it to take a year to get everything. For these items that’s fine and not too long.
If the time to get other legendary backpacks were equal this wouldn’t be an issue. This really sets a bad precedent for future items in WvW because they’re essentially devaluing the game play by overhauling the item and its requirements.

So you want to grind 2 years for a ascended armor in a game mode you do not like?
Imho the point of these high rank requiremens is especially that it turns off grinders, and rewards players that like to play WvW. If you like it you will get the rewards eventually and it will not feel like a grind.
I’ll be so disappointed if Anet caves and lowers the requirements. It will take away the value of it.
I think it will be even more disappointing if people give up on the entire game mode because they feel like the grind is too much.
Oh darling, people have been making that threat for four years now over various things. And yet, WvW keeps chugging along ….

But you seem to confuse “unique to WvW” with “only super duper hardcore and have been for years should be allowed to have them”. This attitude doesn’t really exist in the other game modes, so I’m a bit confused as to why WvW:ers seems to think they’re such a special group.
So you want to grind 2 years for a ascended armor in a game mode you do not like?
Imho the point of these high rank requiremens is especially that it turns off grinders, and rewards players that like to play WvW. If you like it you will get the rewards eventually and it will not feel like a grind.
As a PvX completionist, yes, I will.
I don’t want to, nor will I be all smiles about it, but I will do it.
And it will feel like an unproportionately huge grind that’s for sure.
I mean.. Rank 350 for a Legendary Back, Rank 2000 for an Ascended Armor with a few extra particle effects.. But it is an addition to my wardrobe and some pieces look really nice, so..
Now I’m just hoping they go the same way in other game modes; Next shiny PvP thing requires Dragon Rank (not that that says much more than a 2k+ ranker that Karma Trained in EoTM but hey, who cares right?) and that the next shiny armor in PvE requires 20000 Achievement Points and full map completion on atleast 2 characters in addition to whatever grind it it takes. (Of course this sounds absolutely ridiculous, it’s supposed to)
That you chose to play an “unrewarding” game mode exclusively for years because (I’m assuming here) YOU ENJOYED IT ANYWAY does not entitle you to anything more than someone that chose to dedicate their time to another game mode.
WvW is fun, enuf said. If you dont like it, then stick with t2 armor.
Havent met a single diamond rank that hasnt scouted/upgraded keeps during my playtime in real WvW and I have met a lot. You can also get high rank while doing these things…. It just means you win 80% of fights (which is relatively easy with claim buff on your side) and do scouting effectively instead of running 2000 supply from garri solo to build siege in hills…
Anyways 2k rank is easy, just dedicate yourself to wvw, pve dailies are not worth doing as you get them in WvW etc. If you do pve 60% of time, obviously you will get there 3 times slower. Most dedicated wvw players do at maximum pve raids once a week and some crafting. For example theres no reason to do verdant brink each event more than once, dropping eggs on patriarch or matriarch or whatever gets boring after first time. After doing each pve content once, you WvW, thats how you reach high ranks, if you spend way more time in PvE than WvW, obviously you’re a PvE player and dont deserve the armor unless you somehow managed to still contribute to the server 2k ranks worth….

Chugging is right
Requirement needs to be lowered because of the pre EOTM nerf rates they should have never set the bar in that bracket. At the same time the update was recent but even with linked servers my que times have all but vanished. I’m sure tier 1 will still have long ques for some time to come but the others have settled much sooner than one would think.
Prestige based on rank when we had an extended period of people shooting up the ranks like a rocket takes away the prestige of any item offered. Unless people with those rewards want to be known as EOTM farmers the system needs to be adjusted or their exp pre nerf revoked.
WvW’ers were forced to do PvE or PvP to get specific ascended since ever. You still have RNGsus to get rings & chests. But for WvW-spec gear… please do not whine. It is a reward to those who spent their time (and lot of it) in the game-mode. If ancient roamers/scouts complain I can understand it but most of this thread it’s folks whining who just put a foot in the game-mode. Personally, came to wvw in 2013ish, gone EoTM for approx 50 ranks and am today 2.5k+ without that much of effort. “good amount of wvw since launch and am rank 364 with about 360 hrs in wvw” Redefine “good amount” and/or effectiveness please.

Exactly what are you forced to do in PvE (except exploring the map itself…)?
You get so much salvagable loot in WvW that I’ve maxed out my bank on several mats in less than a week (I can only deposit 1000 of each mat but yeah)..
There were crafting tables IN WvW up until a year ago (correct me if I’m wrong?), so you didn’t even have to set foot outside WvW to craft any Ascended gear your little hearts desired.
Then there’s Trinkets/Rings/Amulets for sale in WvW.
You can even get a bunch of previously “PvE exclusive” things in there.. Like Dungeon Armors and Weapons, PvE Sigils and Runes, PvE Map Meta Rewards etc.. All to save you poor souls from ever having to set foot in the dirty dirty world of PvE should you choose not to..
If the time to get other legendary backpacks were equal this wouldn’t be an issue. This really sets a bad precedent for future items in WvW because they’re essentially devaluing the game play by overhauling the item and its requirements.
Majority of wvw players are happy as it’s, just pvers complaining. old wvwers would like to see even rank limit you have to reach before entering main wvw maps.
Majority of players you say? I would love to see on what are you actually basing your statistics…from my experience, in game i havent found a single player who is actually happy about this changes, and is really easy to understand why is that, on its core its extremely unfair ….. snip

What…You mean regardless of the game mode I should get same rewards. If only that wasnt what wvw’ers had been asking for over the last 4 yrs. Where all my pve legendaries?

Spoken like a true wvw noob. I suggest you read historical posts. There is about 800 some pages of reward complaints. Reward tracks, updated gathering nodes, 90% of all crafting components, unique armor and weapons almost all the rewards you know see had only been added to wvw years YEARs after they were in pve. Reward tracks…last year?
I’m OK if ANet lowers the rank requirement if they give us Legendary armor at higher rank.
If you are grinding out the PIPs as intended, you’ll easily make the r2000 requirement in the time period. If you are afk/PIP farming, you will not.
In a year from now, this PIP system will seem “fair” honestly. And since WvW doesn’t get touched often, this is the only way to keep people active and participating for that long.

Exactly what? Playing a game-mode that I find not interesting at all and would have left the game with only that (fractals, dungeons, raids, slightly PvP).
Also, read well: SPECIFIC stuff. Like, PvP&PvE armors & backpack. Reward tracks are new to WvW. Also we might speak about the precursor-crafting that still needs PvE-farming… but hey maybe a day we will get it also – like, in 5 years…
And, please reminder me how to make Legendary Armor without doing raids.
