Lunar New Year WvW Changes

Just because you don’t doesn’t mean nobody does. I find them quite enjoyable. It’s nice to see a slight change once in a while. I may have to get some Guild Fireworks later.
- I note with a little disappointment that the other fireworks from this event can’t be used in WvW.
Yeah, I don’t know why they’d do such a thing!

^^^^
Even if they don’t really add anything in terms of strategy or mechanics to WvW it’s good that some degree of thought and effort went into WvW. Plus it’s nice to see some visual differences from time to time.
I like the visual changes as subtle as it may be, I’m asian though so I might be biased. -.-
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.
I think the changes look pretty good, I was hoping that the golems were changed to but they are still the same.
I also like the fireworks and setting them off after a great fight or capture.
Yes, I think the event siege looks great! They did a good job with that, and by changing the appearance of the siege, more people built it to defend with, so that makes it even better!
WvW / PVP ONLY

I haven’t been getting any lag since the update in wvw, maybe an ISP or computer issue? I usually do not have lag though even with massive zerg battles, when others are.

Me neither, we had a pretty big fight at the Millers sound keep last night(sorry Millers) and the third server Elona Reach was there too.
I didn not notice that much of a slowdown with so many players inside a keep or trying to get in.

Anet does, besides artwork…….if its pretty it must be good right?

It is your fault!! All your fault…
Thief / Mesmer / Elementalist / Warrior / Necromancer / Ranger / Engineer / Revenant
Crystal Desert – Eredon Terrace – Fort Aspenwood – Stormbluff Isle
I would LOVE to see these reskinned siege stay. It gives a fresh air to the siege that has stale models. Though they look a lot like guild siege pre-event, I do like the way they feel more like the actual thing than a plain model. Hopefully Anet sees this post about the changes and would consider keeping them the way they are now.
My pugs are not lemmings, they just fell off that cliff because I did
I agree with what others have stated as well. Even if they sold different kinds of skins to for siege equipment that would be cool. I guess though it would also need to be balanced for clarity on the battlefield so people know whats going on, but if you got different golem skins or treb skins or even new flame ram skins that would be cool!
So now all the different varieties of each type of siege look the same. Superior ACs, guild ACs, regular useless ACs all look exactly the same. Lazy.
I personally do not want any Pve related achievements in WWW. The last event introduced daily achievement that requires finding firecrackers at Citadel.. Seriously!
I agree with the OP, the new skins have been a hit. Everybody on comms have said great things about them. I hope Anet sees this as an opportunity, and realize they could jazz up WvW without actually changing the gameplay itself.
Fluff matters, it’s cool lil things like these that get people to go oooh ahh’s over a game. Since it’s cosmetic, it could be a source of revenue as well. Seeing how Anet caters to PvE more because PvE players spend more money, they may change their minds if they start seeing revenue from WvW side…which would lead to more WvW development. Win/win all around really.

Thanks, Obama.
all classes 80, who is the cheesiest of them all?
gw2 dress-up barbie is the real endgame

I am pleasantly amazed that WvW got some (albeit superficial) attention! Woohoo!
The skins look beautiful.
I’m going to bet the lack of these in WvW has to do with the idea of a whole zerg fireworking at once and lagging everything to hell or somesuch would be an issue.

Although i much prefer the guild siege look over the normal siege look, i need to agree that this update was pretty lazy, atleast expected new ram+golem skins aswell. This is just copy paste and paint

I think you two are really undervaluing what was released for WvW. This event isn’t a massively hyped up event like a Feature Pack, Halloween, or Wintersday. In fact, it wasn’t even announced at all. The only activity it really has is Dragon Ball Arena which is from Dragon Bash and even the environment looks like resources they had from the Canthan district that they originally planed but scrapped.
Beyond that, when have they went through the trouble to change the looks in WvW? Pretty much only during the major reoccurring holidays like Wintersday and the first and third Halloween. Even still, the siege was never changed beyond the look of the projectiles. So, for ANet to actually include WvW in the festivities with differences in looks for an event this minor, I feel it’s really nice and undeserving of the comment “lazy”.

If all they’re going to do is cut and paste skins from guild siege and tint them red, then I’d prefer they spend those resources doing something else. The red lanterns at siege sites is an example of a real change. But the siege skins are not; in fact it’s a bad change because of the confusion caused by the recycling of guild siege skins.
I think what some of you meant was…
“thanks for the free additional loot and laurels”.
I hope they will add some siege skins to the gemstore. Btw a a robot samurai siege golem would be awesome.
Just the WvW

Reminds me of Brazil!

Regardless of how much effort they put into it — and I do think they’ve put a very nice amount considering the size of the event — the fact that WvW is getting some degree attention makes me happy. WvW has always been starved for change and additions when compared to PvE, especially last year.
Also, in terms of siege confusion, I and most other commanders I know rarely use just pure visual sight to see siege because they are mostly placed in hard to reach/see places. Instead I usually hold ctrl and pan my camera around to look for siege names, which remain unchanged. About the only siege that I recognize by pure sight is trebs behind gates and ballistas, which sight doesn’t really matter for them since I would still either be trying to build out of their range or throwing up siege to focus them specifically since they’re going to be problematic regardless of it’s type.

I, for one, LOVE the new siege skins even though they are just the same as the guild skins. It is not like you see your whole border sieged up with just guild siege is it? Guess some people are never happy whatever happens.
Just hoping they will stay there or even better, various siege skins to give it a “refreshing” look.
Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
I just wish the fireworks would work with wxp too, they are so short anyway why would they do that to wvw players

This I don’t agree with… Liked the siege skin but not if it caused more siege to be laid
Point Blank [Shot]
I’d like a toggle to keep these siege skins as the default.
