Hello

I am trying to collect the very last spoon for Koutalophile. I have done my research here:

Currenlty I have spent 31 hours in WvW, spread over the last couple of weeks. I have killed:

201 Veteran Guard
1 Champion Tower Lord
97 Quartermasters
3 Archers

And so far the luck is not at my side. The reason I have been counting my time spent and kills is because a couple of friends have issues and told me about the spoon not dropping for them too.

As far as RNG goes, this seems a bit off the table to me. Anyone else have these odd numbers, and is there an WvW Developer who can tell us what the estimate drop-rate is. Is it just that extremely rare, or is something going on?

Yeh, I too have had trouble getting this spoon to drop. I’ve not had quite as much time in the WvW as Dofty, but I thought it was originally a problem with my Magic Find, so I farmed luck and applied boosters but still no spoon…

These collection items are supposed to be hard to get. Used to be you got these spoons for almost every kill, that people had stacks of them! But I guess anet changed the drop rate as people were getting annoyed with them.

It might be bugged now, but I got that drop before I hit rank 15 in WvW so it does (or at least did) drop quite readily.

Been a very long time, but try camp supervisors and tower lords…

You need to kill more lords basically. I got about 4 today alone.

FWIW, uh, I have less that 20 WvW ranks, and I got one of those. It’s just RNG, friend.

My alt is rank 20ish, I’ve had two spoons drop. As others have said, they do seem to drop more readily from Camp Supervisors and Tower Lords.

Try joining with an open tag if there is one, more chance of getting into towers.

Got three in the last two weeks.

I got it pretty quick after the spoon collection was released.

Something was changed later though. After you get the Siege Commander’s Spoon for the collection, you’ll never get it again. Instead you’ll get a Broken Spoon junk item that has the same 10 silver merchant value. Same thing happens after getting the Fractal Spoon and Carved Bone Spoon: you get the broken spoon instead when doing that content. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Broken_Spoon

I’ve been doing WvW for a few hours almost every day for the last few weeks and I get at least 1 Broken Spoon every day. So, it does seem to be at least common enough to where if you need the Siege Commander’s Spoon for the collection achievement, it shouldn’t be too hard to get.

Veteran Sentry’s can drop the spoon. Just look for little flag icons on the map that are a different color than your server. Those locations just have a single veteran standing all by itself. Kill the vet, then stand in the circle to capture the location for your server.

Veterans that escort dolyaks can also drop the spoon. But, you need to kill the vets first, otherwise they despawn immediately after killing the dolyak.

That’s wrong. I still get siege commanders spoons even after getting my first one. Never seen a broken one.

Was gonna say I’m getting pretty close to building a full stack of the things; granted, I’m into the thousands for WvW rank.

Either way, go for major objectives. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten one for anything less than a tower.

I have yet to get the Fract spoon on my alt acct despite being level 9 and countless hours spent in Fracts killing every mob in every corner.

I think the above poster is right though, something did change with those spoons since HOT, the overall drop rate.

They used to drop all the time, but then they made some changes and they drop less. Still see them sometimes. Still sad, since it was our most reliable income before the rewards tracks.

… Join a zerg and kill more tower lords or camp supervisors. I got mine from like the 5th tower lord.

Just flip camps. To do that you want to agro them into a corner and nuke.

Hop on your friendly server TS, partially switch to some cheap kitten tanky exotics with some cheap kitten tanky runes, alter a few traits, switch 2-3 utility skills, meet some new people on TS, get your spoons in 1 session. Done and done with ubber benefits and some fun to boot.

You may be right about something. I completed the Koutalophile collection achievement a long time ago. As I said, I’ve been doing WvW for several weeks now and not once received a siege commander’s spoon, but instead at least 1 broken spoon a day. I also recall not getting the fractal spoon for a long time as well, though I had received a few broken spoons instead. Perhaps the broken spoon doesn’t replace the siege commander’s, fractal, and carved bone spoons until the collection is completed?

And I do remember something about the drop rate being adjusted.

I get them all the time, always have, even now.

Yeah, once you complete the collection, you’ll only get broken spoons instead of the siege commander, fractal and teq spoon. Rip my siege commander spoon collection. :’(

Just keep doing what you’ve been doing, Dofty. In my experience, the spoons drop more often when roaming. They only drop from veterans and champions, by the way, so you can spare the quartermasters if they aren’t in your way. I once got a spoon from one of the sharks in bay – it was a glorious day.

Yah, I was working on a full stack of siege commanders spoons when they changed to broken spoons. It was a sad day…

I will be forever stuck with 208.

Geez, could I trade you one for a fractal spoon?
I’ve put hours into fractals with no result.
I hate it when they lock mastery points behind RNG. >.>
