Major props to ANet for extra tokens
so basically every server now got the mistforge weapon, right? they could’nt give out gems or something instead if they were to “reward” the playerbase for being subject to another beta test, making alot of servers (not really mine tho, came in second) hard work get diluted this way?
Rhonin:
How “diluted” was the “hard work”? The tickets are to be used in subsequent seasons and the rewards will be the same (or the availability of skins will remain).
So it isn’t that these “lesser servers” got access to what was supposed to be exclusive to you, they simply got access to what they would have gotten later sooner.
A whine post is a whine post. Everyone got 100 tokens so now the servers who had 200 can buy a skin and the ones who got higher can get a skin AND another skin of lesser skin.
- Mistforged = 300
- Hero = 100
So basically the people who came in second can get 3 hero skins or 1 mistforged while people with MORE tickets can buy MORE skins. I fail to see how this hurts higher placing servers.
Thank you ANET!
oh, I could have worded that abit better I see now.
What I meant was, that if Anet wanted to reward (for lack of a better word) players for the hoopla with the chests not being granted to everyone, why do they reward us in the same currency?
I find it odd and not fair towards the servers/players that actually did the work to place somewhere in the rankings, not necessarily the top servers in every league
Rhonin:
I get your point. I feel the frustration a bit. But the rewards were not designed to be exclusive. It isn’t like the Season 1 trophies for example.
Eventually, everyone will wind up with tokens. Right or wrong, that was a decision ANET made.
Given that the rewards are not exclusive, it really does make sense to provide the “hassle” reward in the same currency.
I fail to see how this hurts higher placing servers.
Thank you ANET!
It doesn’t. But it just goes to show that even by adding extra rewards people are still going to kitten. Pretty crazy, really. Beyond that, I don’t think there was a single first-place server that had to actually really put in overtime wvwing for the prize. From Jade Quarry to HoD to GoM, it was a coast to the finish line because of coverage and/or double-teams. No, the servers that really put in the time and effort are the ones that fought tooth and nail for 3rd, 4th, 5th place finishes, and so on. And they absolutely deserve an extra 100 tickets and the skin. To wax otherwise is at worst plain kitten selfish, and at best just ignorant of how the season played out.

I do wonder…for those that didn’t complete the meta, did they get the 100 tickets in the mail too?
Bombsaway:
I see your point, and you are correct, the rewards are not exclusive, to me it just feels like they are handing out extra tickets to smooth over the problems that still are existing from season 1 no less, and hope that the complaints will die down.
I am all for that maybe people should be rewarded for the problems, but why everyone? I got my chest (both season 1 and 2), I don’t really see the reason why I should get extra tickets for something that was not a problem for me atleast, (yeah yeah I could destroy the extra ones)the ones that still wait for season 1 chest should get a precursor almost, or gems or something you can put a value on.
I think we all agree that rewarding players who had to wait for their due prize was a good thing. So let’s all agree to that.
How they paid us for waiting was essentially a skin. Now if it was another skin from the shop, or a backpack, perhaps people would have been “But I played for the mist skin!” So you would have had people going “What do I want this for?” I think it makes sense to just allow people to get a skin. Having played with them, the 300 ticket skin is superior to the 100 ticket skin so there is a difference and the people who played WvW for the chest will get more than the people who didn’t. All in all it seems like a balanced call.
Just my .02 cents but I see your point Rhonin.
I think we all agree that rewarding players who had to wait for their due prize was a good thing.
They’ll infract you if you say otherwise.
If you frame things in terms of work and pay then you’ll always be frustrated with things in some way, because working for something fosters feelings of entitlement and expectation.
Just play because you enjoy it, and enjoy the shiny things when they come. Thanks ANet for making sure everyone got shinies ^^
Don’t follow me, unless you enjoy being chased by angry men with sticks.
