Yes I find it difficult when my aoes are on the fence about god … Is this a smiting reference? :p
That said. Devs have told us the reason for the aoe limit is game mechanics and adding more hits would cause even greater lag/latency issues in game.

Well a good idea on paper it would defeat the purpose if combo fields (water field that you need to hurt people to activate?) and would hurt the weapon choices of most classes (say hello to whole zergs of dagger dagger thieves)

you are describing something a republican would do. agnostics just hang out in lions arch and neither pvp or pve.
The word agnostic is tied to religion typically. I believe the word the OP was looking for was “organic.”

It actually hsa nothing to do with removing the AoE cap. What he suggested is that the AoE, still 5 limit, would also target friendlies, allowing for friendly fire.
I think that agnostic neutral skills would make all 3 game modes even more chaotic than they are. Can you imagine an ele doing meteor shower on lupi then explaining to the warr fighting the boss in melee range that it was an ‘oopsie’? >:|
Or healing the enemy up on the wall who’s pouring oil or your team’s rams when you drop a water field?

They should do this on 1st of April – Would be hilarious if it was just for one day. Otherwise it would lead to constant griefing, and some spells wouldn’t make sense anymore, because they currently have positive effects on allies and negative effects on enemies, which then would have to be applied to both groups.
A landing you can walk away from just wasn’t fast enough.
Everyone would just play Staff eles instead of the blob meta Warrior and Guardians though if that happens.

Friendly fire wil lead to civil war within servers (guild raids slaying pugs till they leave etc), and influx of massive saboteur legions from other servers (since league rewards are based on server you first logged into).
It would be a giant free-for-all, which could be quiet interesting actually. Also, imagine being able to use enemy portals – we don’t need to hide a mesmer in SM anymore, just get someone on the other server to just casually stroll in there and port the enemy.
Another perk would be to troll your fellow server-man in jumping puzzles. Think that group following you is safe after you cleared out the players from the other servers? Hah! they were wrong… watch your ‘allies’ crumple in rage as you kill them in the obsidian sanctum over and over again. Even better, you could res them yourself and kill them again!
When offensive skills target friend or foe, then so do support skills. Warrior trying to banner res his allies? Random 5 man limit AoE may as well select to resurrect 5 enemies, just when you thought you could gain the upper hand in the battle, you get outnumbered!
A Guardian using ’’Stand your ground" in the middle of a huge battle – how would you know your ally or enemy shouted this fierce warcry? Randomly giving stability to whoever feels like it applies to him/her. Do I feel like standing my ground? I am kinda tired, but on the other hand there is a nice bar with some good beers down at the keep…
Man this could be so much fun – please make this the next April fools joke Anet!!!

One way to eliminate or make zergs act more life like would be making AoE target agnostic…meaning a meteor shower should actually hurt anyone in the AoE area friend or foe. Same thing as a warrior/anyone wielding a great sword…spinning wildly in the middle of a group of people should kind of hurt everyone in your path…don’t ’cha think?
Then people would have to actually think tactically instead of fat fingering every skill on their bar wildly in the hopes of doing some damage….
yeah, that’s not gonna work, rather a better idea would be to:
make AOE & siege have proximity extra damage for example, enemies closely clomped together take 150%-200% more dmg from AOE or siege attacks
EB once got bugged before a patch, and everyone appeared as hostile. Basically, waypointing to that one close keep gets you insta killed x.x

I think your great sword would stuck in the first target. Or don’t really damage anyone. You are not aeroplane propeller, humans just cannot have enough momentum spinning like that.
So much for realism, eh?..
Friendly Fire causes more problems than it solves…. play Planetside2 if you don’t believe it

A much better solution would simply be to cut all AOE damage ticks in half if they overlap where an Ally is …. + wells not being cast’able where an Ally is standing, and marks not being triggered by enemies if there’s any allies in their range. DPS penalizing Stuff like that would be more than enough to incentivize people not to use Blob Zerking as their one-stop shop for taking territory.

You can kill your own server mates in the Obsidian Sanctum…with the traps near the end by the chest. We had some troll killing friendlies over and over by using the traps against us. Worst thing was, those that made it through could not kill him to get him off.
(not saying there should be friendly fire…that would be chaos….)

I think what should be done is that for every enemy that hits you with an AOE or condition the damage is reduced by 5 – 10%.
Say for example I run through 10 AOE’s (which often happens when zergs clash, the ground is painted in red circles, they’re hard to avoid) for every one of those I run through the damage is reduced slightly. That way if I run through enough of them it’ll boil down to the damage of only 1 or 2 AOE’s instead of stacking to the damage of 15 to 20. Same for conditions.
That way if you want to kill the enemy you’ve gotta do it one on one or only a few against a few. Too many and it’ll wind up being less effective rather than more.

Would be funny to see lava font might stacking killed your own zerg accidentally? Otherwise not sure what this accomplishes.
