WvW is completely unrewarding and currently I find no reason for casual general PvX players to join it. Only dedicated hardcore WvW-ers keep playing.

If you want new armour or weapon skins – farm PvE. Everything is in PvE.

PvP-ers have got some consolation thanks to reward tracks.

But in WvW? Hardly anything.

As a result even many WvW guilds, while not raiding, are mostly spending their time in Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths and Dragon’s Stand.

My server is top silver league and it looks like bronze league before HoT. WvW is dying and new borders, not loved by many, are hardly a sufficient explanation to that. People kept telling “wait a few days next week will be better” but literally nothing has changed since the first day of HoT. People want new skins, new legendaries and PvE is the only way to get anythign decent in this game.

There was a dev post recently that offered their logic behind limiting WvW rewards. I absolutely did not agree with that answer in the least though. Unfortunately, I could not find that post in a quick search.

They would need to get creative on how loot is awarded. Their concern is that if it were too good, it would be basically like golem week on some servers every week to maximize output from the system.

In its current iteration, its horrible loot for those not in a zerg vs a lower population enemy.

Im fine with little rewards, if they didnt make the game mode so expensive to play in the lower tiers.

It was on reddit. Apparently posting here isn’t the done thing any more, now they post on reddit instead. Maybe it’s easier to amend or delate posts there.

a dev writing something like that is terrible. I only wvw and i have to deal with being poor with no achievement points or legendary weapons and now legendary armor

Come on – we got those node synthesisers right? right?…

It also takes an eternity to gain the new specialisations which is also fantastic. Love having the flexibility to experiment and test new builds. 2 proofs of heroics for this level i just gained… whoa, whoa… too much value.

I would fully support reward tracks in WvW.

Obtaining 2 green spears per WvW level is not a reward, it is a pain in the kitten – all it does is clutter up my bags.

So after grinding the hero points for my scrapper and dragonhunter— thankfully it’s 250 so I just needed some notaries and just the Verdant ones— and taking a small detour to SW— I was able to finish my engineer’s ascended armor, convert 1k gems, and I still went from 100g to to 240g on hand. Yea, I had some preexisting materials to sell for release and did some PvTP but this really shows that the “drip” is clearly an overstatement and there was absolutely no consideration with any content post Dry Top. Now, I’m not the pro’est of pro l33t pver or TP tycoon, but I didn’t put any specific effort beyond LFG’ing into some semi-organized maps and note that PvE still didn’t consist of the majority of my play time. More like 50% WvW, 25% new content, 25% waiting for Guild Missions to bug out again.

I would call it seeping, but at a incredibly slow rate. And I don’t know about the notaries; they’re just too slow. And lol@ them thinking those synthesizers would break anything. It’s a drop of a drop in the bucket.

Co you are one of maye 5-10% of pre-HoT WvW players.

Tried new PvE maps? Do a meta event, about 1h30m long and… get more loot than in WvW in 6 hours!

Most of WvW guild members come only for 2h raid at 8 PM while spending the rest in PvE. A vast majority of players cares about the rewards. Casuals now have little reason to come.

Well there must be some other ways of rewarding players. Other than simple loot bags.

Something must be done since guilds raid for 2h/day while the rest is done by pugs. And pugs don’t give a kitten about joining WvW anymore.

WvW has been dying for a long time, in the months pre-hot EU T1/T2 servers had dwindled to the population / activity that silver league servers used to have 15 months ago, off-peak especially had died right down.

And yes the new map in itself is not the explanation (more the final nail in the coffin), but then neither are lack of rewards, it isn’t PvE, the explanation is really pretty simple, HoT did nothing to fix the fundamental issues with WvW, “winning” is still worthless, in that it is basically down to PvDooring / avoding fights / playing when others are not, which is laughable in a supposed RvR mass scale PvP mode.

Then when you add that many were delusional about guilds/WvW players coming back for HoT and that the new map is even more of an ineptly designed PvDoor effort, then you have the result, a game mode that has already been in decline for a long time simply hit a new low.

One thing that also made it worse is auto upgrades. No consequences of losing stuff. If it is to stay that way, I’d suggest making upgraded stuff tick for more than paper to make some incentive to defend.

WvW has been in decline, but HoT exacerbated it so direly. Before HoT my server had queues on 3/4 borders at evenings and not there are no more queues. The server went UP in ranks in the meantime.

There could be stuff like meta-events with participation % to give better reward.
