leagues will be decided March 28. the March 14 ratings are used only for pre-tournament transfer pricing. once the tournament begins, pricing will be changed based on the March 28 rankings. it only makes sense that the tournament brackets will also be decided on March 28.
why on earth would you assign the brackets based on March 14 ratings, but set the mid-tournament transfer prices based on March 28 ratings? that would make no sense.
rewards will be at the end of the tournament. that’s how Swiss-style tournaments work.
account-bound WXP won’t happen until after season two. I think someone from Arenanet commented on this in the past (probably Devon). you can try searching for the post if you like.

Hey all,
So I sent this thread to the dev team to get some answers for you, and here’s what we’ve got!
When the tournament starts, world ratings are used to sort the initial matchups. This will include the results of the match ending on March 28th.
Matchups will not function in the same manner as they did in Season 1; The initial round of the tournament will match the worlds in each league according to their world rating. After that round has ended, worlds will be matched up according to how many points they have in the tournament. This will continue after each round, which means that the matchups are not predetermined but are dependent upon the results of the previous matchups. If two teams have the same number of points, the team with the higher world rating will be considered the higher seed for the purposes of the matchup. Matchups will continue to match worlds that are close to each other in performance, rather than following a predetermined schedule – which will make for much more exciting and competitive matches. (I stole that from Devon’s blog :P)
Match-end bonus world chests will continue to exist on a weekly basis; 3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. Additionally, every unlocked achievement in the WvW Tournament category will yield a reward. The overall tournament rewards (tickets), however, will not be distributed until the conclusion of the Tournament.
Hopefully that clears up some confusion!

I’m sure they can neither confirm nor deny the existence of that program update…
Thanks so much Allie!
So if I understand this correctly, matchups will not be restricted by leagues?
Eg.
First round TC vs BG vs JQ, SoS DB Mag, FA SBI IOJ,
TC SoS and FA win
next matchup is TC vs SoS vs FA following swiss style?

Dude, look at the way rewards/points are handed out. It’s pretty obvious that you are locked into your league for the full duration. Otherwise it’ll makes no sense to give 1st place rewards to the 7th (for na) place server.
Thanks so much Allie!

No, there will only be 6 in the Gold League. SBI and IoJ will not play the top 6, the #7 spot is not yet decided.
I think the way it works is that if:
Say BG wins BG/JQ/TC and SoS wins SoS/Mag/FA(DB)
BG = 5 pts, TC 3 pts, JQ 1 pt — SoS 5pts, Mag 3pts, FA/DB 1pt
Match the next week would likely be
BG (5)/SoS (5)/TC (3) + JQ(1)/Mag(3)/FA(DB)(1)
Obviously, the week after that would very likely be BG/TC/JQ + SoS/Mag/FA(DB) again and it’d just keep flip flopping.
Can a dev confirm?

This, why does it have to be such a closely guarded secret, either yes it will be out for the start of season 2 or no it won’t be out for the start of season 2. Its really that simple.

Would be good to have a clarification on this as well. If “leagues” in NA are 6/9/9 as before, would the top 6 be confined to matchups with each other for the entire season?

Because if they say one thing and some issue turns up that will not allow it to be released by then people will rage like mad.
A bit like how people raged like mad when it wasn’t released with EotM (and that wasn’t even confirmed to be the planned release date).

Hello Allie,
just one more question.
It means that in second round, (ill talk about EU) may be macthed together Gunnars Hold and Abaddon’s Mouth and Far Shiverpeaks? Because they all will probably winn the first round.
I mean like 3 matchups in silver league and winners of those matchups will be matched together?
That will be some awfull second round.
So, three way tie for Gold League; meanwhile Mag and DB only get to play SoS and BG all season long?
I’ll laugh if it goes that way.

Does it matter ? People are mad now, what they are doing is a complete lack of respect for their player base. Devons to chicken kitten to step in and communicate with the WvW community about anything. The CDI threads feel like he has been forced to be there and even then barely participates.
Why does this guy still have a job ?

While I can see how boring it will be, I think it’s for the best. Gonna be a long 9 weeks tho. If this is how it really works, whoever gets 2v1’d the hardest in T1 will get an ‘easier’ week every other week (I say that lightly as the guilds in T2 are no pushover, but the number difference will always push the T1 back up).

It’s how its on their post about the leagues format, but looks like most people have a hard time to understand… Imma just copy/paste my post from the other thread:
Some server will never face each other in the format of the actual league… I’ll use the exemple te actual last week scores and tiers (i’m disregarding the mismatched ranks):
NSP, GoM and DR get 5pts
FC, ET and AR get 3pts
DH, EBay and Kaineng get 1pt
The following matchup will be decided by the ammount of pts each team scored, so the trios listed above would be the next matchup. If we follow the rating logic we would have next:
NSP win and go to 10pts (5+5)
GoM get 2nd and go to 8pts (5+3)
DR lose and get to 6pt (5+1)
FC win and get to 8pts (3+5)
ET get 2nd and go to 6pts (3+3)
AR lose and go to 4pts (3+1)
DH win and go to 6pts (1+5)
EBay get second and go to 4pts (1+3)
Kain lose and go to 2pts (1+1)
The following matchups would be:
NSP/FC/GoM
DH/ET/DR
AR/Ebay/Kain
Where we would likely have:
NSP win and go to 15 (10+5)
FC get 2nd and go to 11 (8+3)
GoM lose and go to 9 (8+1)
DH win and go to 11 (6+5)
ET get 2nd and go to 9 (6+3)
DR lose and go to 7 (6+1)
AR win and go to 9 (4+5)
EBay get 2nd and go to 7 (4+3)
Kain lose and go to 3 (2+1)
Making the next matchups:
NSP/FC/DH
GoM/ET/AR
DR/EBay/Kain
And so on…
At this model, only servers that win at the ‘tier 2’ of the league, will actually get matchup with the top ones… So the chances that DR/ET/AR/EBay/Kain ever face NSP/FC are none very slim (DR get matched with NSP at second week)… This model would be a pain for FC because they would face NSP over and over for most, if not for all weeks.

Some people might ask: “What about silver, where we have servers with inflated ratings? T5 is problably stronger than SBI/YB/BP/SoR atm.”
Well, let’s take a look on how it might roll…
DB, IoJ and HoD win and get 5pts
SBI, YB and CD get 2nd and get 3pts
SoR, BP and SF lose and get 1pt
Next:
DB wins, go to 10 (5+5)
IoJ get 2nd, go to 8 (5+3)
HoD lose, go to 6 (5+1)
CD wins, go to 8 (5+3)
SBI get 2nd, go to 6 (3+3)
YB lose, go to 4 (3+1)
SF wins, go to 6 (1+5)
BP get 2nd, go to 4 (1+3)
SoR lose, go to 2 (1+1)
Next:
DB/IoJ/CD
HoD/SBI/SF
YB/BP/SoR
DB wins, go to 15 (10+5)
IoJ get second, go to 11 (8+3)
CD lose, go to 9 (8+1)
HoD wins, go to 11 (6+1)
SF get second, go to 9 (6+3)
SBI lose, go to 7 (6+1)
YB wins, go to 9 (4+5)
BP get 2nd, go to 7 (4+3)
SoR lose, go to 3 (2+1)
Next would be:
DB/IoJ/HoD
CD/SF/YB
SBI/BP/SoR
So, the ‘dying’ servers, would be pushed to the bottom of the league, right at the first two weeks, and never again they would face DB/IoJ… I used the prediction that SBI still stronger than YB/BP, but idk if that is accurate, but it won’t change the fact that SBI would be down with YB/BP/SoR and never face DB/IoJ.
Also, servers that are tied in pts will be ranked according with their world rating… So if a server have more rating than another when both have the same pts, the server with more rating will be ahead on ranking purposes.

No, I am still very confused.
Are we allowed to play as was indicated before, in WvW without barriers?
We know that after the 28th one has to wait a week to get to the regular maps but what about before?
From reading through the thread there are several other questions and issues not answered.
The reason these threads keep getting attention by players is because we feel we are not being given answers – all respect intended, we just want to understand what we’re up against butting up against the beginning of the season.
I feel any changes should be done out of the season so it has no chance, like several of these issues, to confuse players – not giving them time to adjust and plan like moving servers before a season – the cost is huge – the deadline not coinciding with ‘paydays’ which makes no sense.
WvW is our home. We take it seriously when we can’t get answers to questions that have had more than one thread.

Pretty sure they will be locked.
If it’s not let’s skip the 8 week bs of higher tiers tanking to get 1st place rewards of lower tiers for rewards, call it a gg and then jack up transfer cost to $30.
Couldn’t stop laughing while writing this post Fa already planning to tank again into silver?
Couldn’t stop laughing while writing this post Fa already planning to tank again into silver?
Nobody on FA wants to be in silver. The only reason we dropped down is because we have literally no OCX.
Every single commander was ppting like crazy the last 2 weeks to avoid dropping down. I personally was commanding until 3am to avoid this. Nothing we can do in coverage wars.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
i can now see SF tanking real hard to try to not get into silver.
