Maybe i am getting old for this game...
You are not alone in this. Its not just us older gamers. Its the gamers that want to test skill… not stats… against enemies.
I have been playing MMOs for over 15 years now. The shine of PvE and of stats and artificial ways to boost my character are done and over YEARS ago.
MMOs it seems may never reach a true maturity level. It actually started out pretty well… M59, UO, even AC were not to bad in these areas. EQ was a horrible stat grind that I played for a LONG time. When WoW rolled around I was already tired of it, sadly because of the success of WoW its all anyone thinks of when they think of an MMO.
SWG went from an open world great idea with bad follow through… to a theme park mess because of the traditional model.
Frankly my time is worth more then getting punched in the face by the devs of these games for not playing/grinding enough to stay competitive. Its not about skill… and that is a shame in any game where you are testing yourself against another person.
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.

sPvP is over there —-——>.
There are a lot of people from the atari and NES era who were privileged enough to see how gaming has evolved over the past 30 years.
I sure do miss playing Contra on the NES it was my favorite game back in the 80’s! Before that was Asteroids on the atari. Then I remember when Super Mario Bros came out and it was the coolest game ever.
Me and my brother used to fight because he used to cheat and take my turn haha good old days.
Sorry for being off topic you guys just took me back in time when I read your posts
Herr:
Kindergarden is there —-————>
join king of the hill in spvp 24/7 duelling without the 3 “bunker” amulets – cleric, shaman and soldier.
Yeah, the is one of the few reasons that make me happy to be born in 1980. Gaming was a whole different experience then… Nostalgia inside…
Spvp is a horrible system with no armor choises and based abour avoiding combat so how is this PvP and a challenge? Its all about a few classes with specific builds aswell so No thanks, we don’t play that trash called spvp
king of the hill and dm inc? They won’t put it in the normal rotations because it would take people from their precious esport gamemode, not to mention it’s still limited to crappy gear choises.
I remember GW1 where pvp was about skill and killing the opponents. Not avoiding combat, power creeps, always 2 op classes, 1 gamemode and 1 gamemode that gets unbalanced on purpose.
if you are about skill, “crappy gear choices” shouldnt bother you since its the same for everyone and the game is actually balanced around those, not the gear you get for wvw. there are already king of the hill custom arenas btw where duels take place pretty much 24/7.
I feel like i am in the same situation OP.
To be honest I think this game has nothing to offer. Content wise.
I mean, let’s be clear, the only good, really good thing about this game is the combat system. That’s dynamic and fast paced, it’s smooth and fun and works well.
But of what use is a good combat system if you have no content for it?
I mean the sPvP is plain trash. I remember WoW’s or WAR’s limited bgs being so much more fun than this useless point capture crap.
The WvW has no meaning anymore. It hardly had any anyway, but now it gets even more pointless, with the mindless map flipping and no incentive on actual fights.
And they’re taking away the fun of finding those occasional small battles in the open with people with the same gear as you.
I really don’t know what’s left here.
And PvE is just a joke. I’m a pvp-dedicated player like you but since the market doesn’t offer anything for us atm a friend of mine managed to convince me to try FFXIV, and I’m only at level 15 and the game is already more challenging and various, with parties that have meanings and classes that actually have sinergies and a great storyline and tons of content and quests and cool stuff to do.
Then I come back to GW2 and I immediately notice how much smoother and cool the combat system is, and then, after 2 minutes, I have nothing to do except grinding usekitten ring to torture dailies/monthlis for laurels without any sort of challenge or fun.
