Thanks for the link, finally some light at the end of the tunnel? I hope so

Don’t get your hopes up they made the same promises every year since launch and I’m almost positive some of the words are the exact same.
roughly 6 months ago they were “on the verge” of launching an alliance system to allow WvW players to battle on other servers….

Every serious WvW player is just biding their time waiting for Camelot Unchained. Figure that game will be out in 16 months. GW2 will need a lot more than just 1 new map in HoT to keep the players.

No, no I am not. I do not personally know many who are. Perhaps you should stick to speaking for yourself, rather then attempt to dishonestly represent the community in order to give false weight to your own desires?
I am looking forward to HoT much more then I ever would CU.

Complains about people being ridiculously rude and twisting comments in other threads…
With all of the bias demand, and the ridiculously rude way multiple poster find a way to make threads around twisting every comment in every post they make here, What do you want them to say?
then takes an obvious generalization and twists it to be literal so he can feign offense and tell someone to speak for themselves.

I don’t desire anything bad to happen to GW2. Its an okay game that stubbornly refuses to improve WvW at every turn, but I hope its always a good place for people who like what it is. GW2 did a lot right, with open world events, great classes, great art, no trinity… and some things not so great, like terrible dungeons (almost all of them are cheesed) good pvp (but totally blew the esports ladder and never recovered), solid RvR (but never made it better, never made it personal, never made guilds matter, never made your name matter, never made a darkness falls, never made it an important thing to do like PvE, never added maps, and hardly ever gave it exciting event content).
CU is a game that was almost entirely backed by former DAoC, WAR, and GW2’s WvW players (unsurprisingly, a large portion of GW2’s WvW community are former DAoC and WAR players). That’s not an opinion.
While my experience is anecdotal, I personally haven’t found a single serious WvW guild that isn’t looking forward to CU. I don’t think you can find many WvW guilds in T1 that aren’t going to move that game. T2 and T3 obviously have more casual populations, but there is incredibly large interest there as well.

Got a link that offers evidence of such a claim?
I am interested to know how you even feel you can claim to know that at all, with any certainty, actually.

As I T1 commander in a large WvW guild, what I hear (i do not claim to speak for them or see the future, as some here do) is about 50/50, with many having no interest in that game based on development issues we have discussed amongst ourselves. Others I have heard say they are anxious to try it. But this is what I have heard from discussions with the player base on at the time I was in TS. Who knows that those who play at different times and in different demographics would have to say with the same discussion.

A lot of players are going to play CU. Especially players who weren’t playing GW2 for ages because of all those issues and almost no improvements. A big chunk of my old WvW guild is going to play CU, several roamers I know and almost every former WAR player I know. The current WvW community is rather casual so you’ll not hear a lot of discussions about this game. Let’s face it: a lot of former WAR and DAoC players are playing GW2 or killing time in other games because there is nothing to do right now.
BTW: “that game based on development issues”?! Are we even playing the same game right now? How would you call this? xD

When CU funded the first thing they did was create forums for the people who backed the game to discuss its future and give feedback. Almost every thread on that forum is full of players comparing DAoC, WAR, and GW2 to what they hope CU will do better.
I can’t link it to you because its restricted to backers, and this conversation isn’t important enough to violate NDA material. If you are a T1 commander, I’m sure you can just ask someone about the CU playerbase.
If you are referring to GW2 WvW’ers being DAoC / WAR veterans, all you have to do is go look at the WvW threads on this forum from when the game launched.

The CU forums you refer to, appear to me, to have less the 1% the amount of posters then there were people listed as having contributed, so I am not entirely certain what metrics your basing your claim on in this instance.
As to the GW2 WvW forums, I see only a small percentage of posters compared to players I see in game. I think you being extremely anecdotal at best.

~14,000 kickstarter backers. * it is possible to back after the kickstarter, and many have come in after.

Maybe you were looking at the wrong forums? Like I said, you can’t even access the forums unless you are a backer. 14,000 does not equal 1% of 18,000. Everyone who is a forum member backed the game.
As for GW2, i’ll give you that there are fewer posters than players, but i simply can’t fathom a T1 server commander not being aware of the DAoC or WAR population on his server. I mean where do you think the original JQ playerbase came from?

Whenever i play WvW here, i miss WAR so much…
There was a point to it in that game, i wish anet would grant us a point in WvW too..
Some form of siege event, on a big fort. I mean that way people would actually give a kitten , right now you take over forts/towers/etc to lose it to claim it again to lose it to claim it.. for what?
OK OP, I see your points and I can only come from my guilds perspective.
We are a rather large Havoc Guild that specializes in Borderlands Annoyance, ie. if we are on your BL you will either be there all night fighting us off rather than ebg or somewhere else, or you will lose all your stuff, and we will waypoint one of your keeps cuz we can.
We do this to help our server, to direct groups back to defend rather than being offensive.
A Factions system would negate all we do in any structured format. It wouldn’t stop us doing it but…. well…
LMAO we’d do it anyway:)
My guild isn’t looking forward to CU, but BnS. ANet dropped the ball on GW2 and WvW by putting too much resources into their fecal-like PvE.
My major concern with CU is the combat system.

This is where things get questionable, Because anyone has been capable of joining these forums for a very long time. I know, because I have been posting on the forums for a very long time, and never gave them a dime. Given that you are claiming inaccurate information to support your case, it is hard not to wonder what else you misunderstood about that game and its contributors.
I mean, you are “claiming” a game has so much to look forward to, when you have no real clue what is going to be in it. You do not even know what the classes will be. And the list of banes and boons so long and convoluted, that by using that as an indicator, it will have worse balance then this game by far.
Good luck though, using it as a threat to fling at Anet. I am certain they are extremely worried about losing their player base to a game that won’t be out for a solid 3+ more years.

I dare say WAR even had better pve… O.O
if there was another mmo that could compete for the massive battle and open pvp crowd most of us would be there right now.
also plz ignore coglin, he was home schooled.

CamelotUnchainedFAQAccess to the forums is currently only granted through the purchase of tiers in our store. As discussed below, access level to specific forums is gated through the purchase of a specific tier level
If you haven’t contributed than you are clearly violating the terms of service. maybe you got access by using an email address of someone that did donate to set up your account, or maybe they are slacking on the verification, but clearly you shouldn’t be on there. I’m not the forum police, if you want to fraudulently access backers only forums to a game you didnt back so you can be “in the know”, enjoy yourself.
The point I was refuting was Coglin’s claim that the forum was not composed of backers, when it pretty clearly is almost entirely composed of them. You fraudulently accessing them doesn’t really undermine that point, as people in your position are certainly not the average poster. The rest of your post is an extrapolation that “if i was wrong about forum access I must be wrong about everything”, but clearly the FAQ supports that I was right about intended forum access.
I haven’t made any “(improper use of quotes) claims” that CU has so much to look forward too. It doesn’t need much to look forward too because GW2 WvW development since launch has been so minimal that the bar to beat is incredibly low, and a game entirely focused on RvR is incredibly likely to exceed that bar. I made the generalization “Every serious WvW is just biding their time waiting for CU”… and that GW2 needs more than 1 new map to fix WvW. Which was followed by other posters supporting the statement that they were looking forward to the game, and even the person arguing with me admitting that half of the other T1 guilds he was talking too had expressed interest.
It wasn’t a threat to fling at Anet. Its just criticism. They have done a terrible job at improving upon what WvW was at launch. Patch after patch is PvE content only. Even Edge of the Mists is almost entirely PvE. WvW ranks and correcting some horrible performance problems are the only thing they have to show for themselves.
And like you said, Anet probably isn’t shaking in their boots over CU (3+ years lol?). If they cared anything about keeping the WvW population around they would’ve done more than just WvW ranks in the past two years. We are no big loss to them. Who knows, maybe there is some internal metrics that shows 90% of their revenue comes from PvE’rs and forum fanbois buying skins and minis on the weekend.

Dis.If CU is half as good as it seems it’ll be,I don’t see how
PvP players would choose the half @ss RvR,2 map sidekick, that
is WvW in GW2.
WvW population will decline and that will lead to even more focus
on the PvE.
Atm GW2 is playing without any real competition, but at least is
providing some short of limited RvR format,so ty Anet.
Most other PvE MMOs don’t even do that.
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-
-Go go Espartz.-
About factions.
I’d rather they consolidated WvW servers and merged the populations.
PvE is MS anyway, the only reason separated servers still exist is for WvW.
Part of what keeps a RvR player engaged in a game is server/realm pride.
Loose factions ala ESO don’t work, and I believe I don’t have to comment on
the abomination that is EotM sides/colors system.
