Mendons... time for a rebuild!
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Compare it to the other 4 back row towers. Blue and Green towers are much more defensible, being right under the nose of the keeps. The only defense of Mendon’s is to port everyone back home and run there quickly.
OTH, it also balances out the hard as nails to capture Veloka.
Langor and Jerrifer’s are not easy caps; but they might as well be Supply camps compared to Veloka.
The design is set to encourage both Red and Blue to focus on Green. (Blue has a harder path to attack and Red needs to go on the offensive to defend it’s exposed flank on that half).
Blame idiots who don’t understand map diplomacy as much as the crappy tower design.

Aldon’s is extremely difficult to take because there is only one not so easy to place spot for siege that is protected from the main keep assault.
Practically nobody takes a defended Jerrifers thanks to the extra space on the hill to put siege. That place is almost impossible to siege cap and has places to put ACs that cannot be hit by eles. It also has the advantage of being the tallest point in the area.
Both Bravost and Langor are tough, but Langor with its built in choke is extremely difficult to take. It has the Aldon’s treb problem though.
Veloka is a tough take, but there are a half dozen places to put siege that is very difficult to counter.
Mendons… most servers I have played on don’t even try to hold it against a stronger force.

Mendon tower is probably the worst design of any tower on any map. Almost any defensive siege can be hit by elemenatalist AoE due to the openness of the tower. As a fixed fortification it is a fail all around.
Im not sure if this is a problem with mendons.. my elementalist and Ranger can hit siege on the wall of any tower/keep in the game. The only time I can’t hit it is if it’s on the other side of the gate being shot through a door.
The problem is that people think Mendon’s is an inner tower. It’s not. The two “inner” towers in red corner are Veloka and Ogrewatch.
Inner towers can be protected by keep trebs and can treb back to hit INNER of the keep. Veloka and OW satisfy this property. Mendon’s doesn’t. Granted, things become a bit more complicated when you throw SM into the mix, but in terms of keep trebs and ease of upgrade, Veloka and OW are the inner towers.
Mendon’s is basically like QL, except a bit harder to defend. I think this is to compensate for the VERY short yak paths to Veloka/OW.
Yep what my bro up there said, mendons, klovan, durios, wildcreek, quinten, and anz are considered outer towers. Bravost, langor, aldons, Jeff, ogre, and veloka are inners
I think the trade-offs for structure defensibility on EBG are adequate, as far as non-mirrored maps go. Mendon’s is difficult to defend with siege, and Anz is also hard to defend because it’s fairly long walk from Overlook (if you have an open WP), but Overlook is nearly impregnable when actively defended with siege. Since red is theoretically the weakest server in the matchup, having the most defensible keep is fair if they are trying to maintain an upgraded keep.
QL is also hard to defend with siege on the blue corner if siege is pre-cleared with ACs in the lower gap, and Durios is long walk from Valley.
Green has the most easily defended outer towers, and two of the harder towers to take with essentially suicide gates, but if some rascals do manage to ninja Jeffifer’s they can build siege to easily defend a paper tower, treb your inner keep wall , and cause problems all day if they really want to. Green also has the easiest keep to take with an all out assault on the double back doors.

You can at Mendons. Go around to the stairs and you can hit nearly every drop of siege behind the door. You can hit siege on the roof of the supply hut. You can even bomb the back of the keep from the ground. There are about two places siege can be placed in Mendons that is safe from ele fire and neither is particularly good for holding it.
To my knowledge no other tower is this vulnerable.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
The guys above have covered it. Mendon’s IS the worst tower in EB to defend, I hate it. It’s not just siege placement and lack of cover from keep, but the long path from Speldon and on to keep that mean it takes forever to upgrade. But Ogres and Veloka are just the opposite. Ogres upgrades in no time if Pangloss is upgraded. If Mendon’s was a proper inner tower AND Red had Ogres they would be at a massive advantage.
That said, it does seem a very odd design choice to give (historically if not, so much, now) the “weakest” server such an unbalanced side of the map. I always prefer playing green – and that is supposed to be for the strongest server! ???

Although not many people knows this, but mortars from valley can reach QLs gate to defend it.
Red beside OL and veloka, is just horrible
I have a dream – Our Anet Senpai will make WvW Great Again!
WvW Forum is more competitive than WvW
It’s pretty clear to me that most of the walls and “fortifications” in WvW are build for aesthetics, not defense. Quentin Lake also has an “enemy can stand underneath the middle and attack” problem like Mendon’s and, unlike Mendon’s, can be trebbed from SMC.
