Not that it is a surprise, but if this thread shows anything it is that people hit reply before ever reading the OPs entire post, or for that matter, actually taking a bit to think about it.

If the big problem is pulling through the gates, I wonder, how often does this really happen? Yes, its a bug, and it should be fixed, but if this is the issue, than nerfing the skill would be islly.

If the issue is people chain pulling off walls, then there is no nerf needed. It takes coordination to do that many pulls in chain, and even then, after all that coordination, it doesn’t always work. Just remember, the pulls don’t just pull straight horizontally, it pulls in the direction of the “mark”. And I believe it pulls from your “center”, which makes some sense. So, if there is just a ledge, than being pulled many times constantly over the edge makes sense.

I have had MANY times where I put a pull on a wall and activate it, and even people on the edge just nudge to the side or go the wrong way.

SO, besides the “bugs” in the WALLS/DOORS (NOT THE SKILL), I see no reason why this skill is any more OP than people knocking off walls or off bridges. If there are bugs in the obstacles, than they should be fixed, but then arguing that the skill is OP is then just silly ranting, since its not the skill that is OP or bugged. All in all, I see no reason why some people are getting so adamant that the skill is broken. All evidence is pointing to the obstacles being broken, NOT the skill (since the SAME happens with chain knockbacks, but of course no one mentions those…..)

Learn to use stability.

I don’t believe any classes have spammable Stability skills. Most are on long cooldowns, like Armor of Earth (90s) for Elementalists, with a short duration (6s), barely long enough to use a couple of skills, and then you’re out for the next 84s based on your logic.

Because Temporal Curtain works on sides of walls, you don’t usually see it until you are pulled, which is too late to use Stability, even if you could react that fast.

Stability is not the answer to OP’s problem. But I’m sure you realize this and are just trolling.

Since you play on a lower tier server it’s obvious that you are inexperienced with stability and its related traits.

Again, learn to use stability. Maybe you should try reading the wiki article on stability before you accuse others of trolling.

Ahh yes, tier is associated with individual skill and knowledge. Go on.

Stability isn’t spammable but really the enemy should be putting up aoe to keep you away from the edge anyway.

Temporal curtain isn’t spammable either so what’s your point?

This shouldn’t be rocket science for you, if it’s giving you that much trouble then guess what, equip some stability skills or traits.

You dont seem simple, so what part of multiple mesmers using it one after another(perhaps after stability has worn off) can you not comprehend? I mean it shouldn’t be quantum physics for you or is it?

I understand the issue with the bug in the obstacles..but people are saying that the SKILL should be fixed or that it is OP, etc….but it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the skill. It has nothing to do with the mesmer pull. It has to do 100% with the obstacles. You’d get the same result with any other pull, or any knockback. So, I think lots of our confusion was why are people ripping on a skill and a profession which has nothing to do with the actual problem?

The only problem I have with the skill is that if you have 2 mesmers you can pull anyone off a wall ledge even with the scaffolding.

lv80 with skills fully unlocked, warrior, elementalist and engineer
lv80 Necromancer, all professional skills unlocked, working on the final norn elite skills.

You can if you were fairly near the wall to begin with, and the mesmers get really lucky. It’s not consistent, in anyway whatsoever that I have found….But I do understand the frustration. Just know that mesmers get equally frustrated as many times when we do a pull and it does nothing, or you bounce off the stupid ledge haha.

They can check that its to high up so you cant shoot at one at the ground if you stand att cliff then they should be able to check the other way, the player stand to high up so the aoe cant hit.

AOE pull should be LOS and half the range that single pull is so 300range.

The game mechanics actually prevent this from being possible in the same way the game mechanics prevent Anet from fixing it so you can’t shoot catapaults at the inside of a gate to damage rams on the outside.

The actual casting location could be, and already is, LOS. But AoE effects go through obstacles, and there’s no way to fix that that wouldn’t require them restructuring the entire way AoEs work.

it very well could be the skill is bugged as well, we dont have any basis for comparison as the only other pulls require los and cant be tested in this situation. you dont get the same results with other pulls because they fail before grabbing. mesmer pull is the only one that doesnt.

guardian is the only comparable pull. it requires los for the particle sent to the victim. does it require los for the pull itself? then, does a guardian pull ever knock you 10 feet in the air if you collide with a small ledge on the way to him? then, the pull doesnt have a knockdown component, is mesmers borked because of the knockdown?

now with regards to the obstacles, i know these are broken because there are certain ones you can walk up to and simply walk over without ever jumping. im pretty sure that isnt intended. and here you come saying who are you to speak for the devs? well i also thought the invuln supply camp spots were pretty stupid and probably not intended, and now that kitten is finally fixed.

im pretty sure the ledges are there to specifically prevent people from being pulled off the walls, so abusing chain pulls to get around the terrain design constitutes exploiting and should be a bannable offense

Let’s not mention the number of times I’ve seen Siegerazer yank people up and off walls, sending them to fiery pew pew deaths at the mercy of the zerg mob. And he’s not a mesmer….

It’s a skill. Several people using it to continuously pull you doesn’t make it an exploit. That tiny little half ledge wasn’t made to protect you from being pulled over it but to keep you from inadvertantly running off the ledge….it’s nothing more that a decorative toe kick.

Really. Did you even read the page you are linking? Your response is that I should basically delete everything that makes my character mine, and instead go grandmaster in earth, losing everything I got by going grandmaster in lightning, to obtain cheap and frequent stability?

BUT since this game has yet to integrate diminishing returns on CC

Guild Wars 2 has the Stability boon which negates CC. Don’t expect DR on CC. It’s not necessary.

It’s amazing how threads turn into a qq fest or how people criticize other peoples play calling them stupid for not using this ability or don’t do this and then turn around and call the other guy stupid for calling me stupid.

The OP and this tread is all about how there is a barrier on a wall that is designed to protect you from A SINGLE PULL, but due to poor programming, the collision detection does not work and is pulled off a wall as if the barrier is not there. We’re not talking about a ramp that has no barrier. We’re not talking about a section of the wall that has no barrier, like the western part of the northern inner bay gate. That’s it.

This should not turn into a discussion about the pull skill itself. Please, try to stay on topic. Start a new topic on “co-ordinated mesmer pulls are overpowered.” or something if that’s what you want to talk about.

Blackgate Native. It takes tremendous strength and skill to pull a lever.

Actually it says “Mesmer pull broken in certain places”… Which is quite different than what you attempted to compare.

I bought GW2 mainly to playtest WvW but I am very disappointed in it. I don’t like the design of the BL or the keeps/towers. I don’t like the fact that a level 80 still gets CRAP loot. I don’t like the fact that an npc is my only choice for repairs. Why can’t guilds have repairs ? Why can’t I repair my OWN armor if I am an armorsmith or leatherworker or tailor ? Why is it an enemy can swim across the lake and get all the way to the northernmost point on MY OWN BL map with absolutely no problem ? How the hell do you justify being able to pull me across and over a wall when I’m on the inside, out of range ? Why is a bullkitten event NPC Champion being reset every time he dies ? How is it a single player can contest a keep or tower so now we can’t waypoint inside ? I have to run across my own kitten map half the time just because waypoints are contested (keep an eye on that timer!). I’m glad they fixed that stupid invulnerable spot (boy were some ppl shocked when it wasn’t there anymore!) but they could do so much more to improve the experience of WvW.
