Just have to be talented enough to skirt them for five minutes. After five minutes that ability is removed.
As a Mesmer I always considered it a sport to hide in inner keeps, and gave thought to this matter early before HoT release. In HoT I already have been hiding a couple of times successfully in the new inner keeps even without being seen, so yes, you can still do this, but it’s not as easy as before.
Good thing (for me) is that most people underestimate the mesmer’s capability and wrongly believe that those times of hiding are over.

Most people simply couldn’t care less if there is a mesmer hiding to take a keep back, perma waypoints, plus “winning” being worthless, really who cares if a keep gets taken back a few minutes later, when the game mode is moribund.
It’s possible. However, it is much harder due to “marking” and the map layout.
I had a guildie portal into earth keep and I did so myself before.
There is less incentive due to lack of WP.
In your backline: Elementalist+Mesmer+Necromancer
don’t worry, ennemy don’t take time to search for people inside the keep because it’s a perma karma train….. I was able to stand inside inner gate with my guard…. No need to use stealth…. This is because now no one care, keep and tower are useless and don’t give any tactical advantage and there is no work to upgrade them.
And this give more wvw xp to flip the stuff… Again and again…
Even at prime time you can take most of the structures without any fight.
And btw, it’s a good thing to avoid mesmer hidding, the keep are really too big, it’s impossible to find mesmer inside without the marker.
Tried this today … And failed, lol.
Friend however, was successful. Seems you need to have a decoy mesmer to chase/distract.
Needless to say, I need to improve.
I’d imagine its not as hard as it sounds if you cleverly stick in the areas of the keeps that have more than one (vertical) layer because then they’d have a hard time using the minimap to find you.

Won’t take long till the enemy starts to whisper the hiding mesmer “Don’t be afraid! We don’t hurt you. We WANT you to take it back fast, so we can take it again…”
Apparently the ‘marked’ debuff is buggy too. We took the air keep yesterday. No red dots on the map although an enemy guild was at the inner gate.
After a year of assessment, I propose that this change be reverted. IMO it takes away a fun and important element of the game.
Since nothing else seems to be being done about the ubiquitous population problem, I suggest that the next official poll be regarding this instead.

Mods generally delete threads that are posted in again after being inactive for a few months, in this case it’s a year so I’d be surprised if it isn’t locked soon.
Create a new thread and link back to this in the new one for reference.

I don’t think this is possible in the Alpine Borderland keeps as they are small and the “Marked” area goes as far as outside outer walls for all 3 keeps.
Should be possible in the super large Fire and Air keeps in Desert Borderlands tho.
