More Badge of Honor Rewards
I support this product.
I would add these rewards
random exotic (chance at precursor)
rare item box (random 2-3 rares)
bag of mats (like the laurel vendor)
wvw finisher (maybe 1-5 new unique ones that cost 10k badges each)
random superior siege (including an omega)
1 wvw rank point (not level similar to other games with 1 skill point as a quest reward)

Nice ideas everyone, and yes definitely a WvW reward track would be EPIC! Could have unique skin rewards and liquid WXP rewards. Good thinking!

so a full 400g(+200~300g to get 500 crafting for wep and armour) ascended set in 6 days… why would you even craft it any more.

You can get that many badges from doing whats basically suppose to be the overflow map? I dont get that amount doing the game mode on the regular maps…
Then again, I guess you guys are karma training it and not bothering to fight unlike the regular maps.

What I’m saying is PvE players will flock EoTM with level 1 characters. Hit level 80 with with enough badges to get ascended gear if they really grinded it out. It’s already bad enough as it is atm with all EoTM pugmanders doing Ktrains, avoiding all zergs and just want to flip stuff instead of focusing PPT. Not saying all commanders do this but most pugmanders do.

No I think it’s quite on the money, considering I originally thought 3k badges would take a while (unless you no lifed EOTM purely for badges), but upped it to 5k just to make it that extra bit harder, and added 10g on top of that as a requirement.
I WvW everyday (all I do is WvW), and it’s taken me a few weeks to get 21,000 badges. I have never gained 5,000 badges in a day or 2, so I honestly don’t know how you’re pulling those numbers? Maybe 1,000 badges a day (that’s doable), but even then that would take 5 days of no lifing EOTM just for 1 piece. That would take 1 month for a full set of ascended gear if you were to only do EOTM and happened to get many captures to get that 1,000 badge goal per day. That’s pretty fair if you ask me because that’s a lot of time and effort gone into it, rather than just paying for ascended gear.
Like Anet said a while back, they want more ways of obtaining ascended armor because people just aren’t doing what’s necessary to make it because it costs far too much gold, laurels and time gated stuff, which ultimately leaves people unmotivated to get it and give up on ascended gear entirely.
The reality is, it’s only a matter of time before ascended armor and weapons are obtained through other means, like karma, laurels, badges of honor, dungeon tokens etc. etc. and I would say 5k badges for 1 piece is pretty fair, especially adding a 10g requirement on top of that just to add a bit of pain to the player’s pocket instead of going the pay-to-win crafting route method.
I’m most likely off on the obsidian shards, tomes of knowledge, WXP booster reward requirements and all that though – I never really bought the stuff so I wouldn’t know what’s an appropriate figure.

Badges of honor are an irrelevant currency since EotM was introduced.
The biggest problem with badges of honor is that karma trains get loads of them and defenders/scouts get almost zero.
YET, it is defenders and scouts that use badges of honor for buying siege while karma train-type people tend not to be interested in defending towers etc.

Very great ideas, apart from the ascended stuff and the crazy amount of badges you can get in EOTM, but apart form that great badge sinkholes.

Wait a minute. What you’re saying is this would follow their original design plan of players having full best in slot gear by the time they reach max level? Oh noes!
(Not bothering to dig up the dev quote which said that was exactly their goal, from a million years ago, and probably by someone who doesn’t even work there anymore, but hey, it was originally intended to be that way, by someone anyway, at some point….)
The badge rewards from Edge of the Mists could use a reduction, but really, who cares if/how other players get their gear. Geez.
I hope they don’t touch the rewards in eotm… I rely on going there for 3 hours to refresh my badges to buy siege.
If you want something to do with your badges then don’t be so selfish… give something back to your server – buy siege, turn it into superior and send it to a commander on the map who will put it to good use.
I go through 1,000 badges per day and that is not including any golems.
There is more to buy with badges than the number that drop. I never get enough badges in wvw… I have to play eotm for a couple of hours a day just to get enough badges to seige garrison.

As long as the badges match other aspects of the game I’m on board for sure. Meaning, if I can play WvW for say 1 hour and buy a Tome of Knowledge, I expect to be able to get the same thing if I play PvE or PvP matches.
No thanks. PvErs would still need to spend >100g crafting and >50g per weapon/armor piece for Ascended, while a WvWer would get it for 10g and, quite frankly, a pathetic amount of badges. Change this to ascended rings with a cost reduction and that would be fine with me.
Do note that PvErs don’t like crafting either, and it absolutely is not a PvE activity (there are crafting stations in home BL), but use 1-2 hours to get a worthwhile reward. Very few people actually do like crafting.
Tomes, WXP & Skillpoints sure. Not so much boosters, leave those to gem store only. Obsidian Shards? WvW already gives plenty of karma, so seems unnecessary to me.
Would be nice for WvWers to be able to obtain dungeon item skins, so they can get those skins without needing to do several dungeons.

A simple thing they could do is to just jack up the price of the WvW skins by tenfold.
Some of them are very nice exclusives to WvW, and both the EoTM (badge supply) and wardrobe (demand) have made these very (too cheap).
A badges (and Empy fragments) nerf in EoTM is due.
just take out the badges of honor in eotm all together, badges of honor should only drop exclusively in WvW. Then K train would only be K train. Everything else I agree with about the reward.

PvE players can make 100g in about the time a WvW player can make 5k badges (even zerging edge). I still don’t see the issue. Time spent playing should equal time spent playing, as you suggest with the dungeon skins.

Thanks for your post Thrash! Yes, as long as the conversion rate/time and effort put into obtaining these rewards with badges of honor and gold is equal to the money spent just flat out buying them (or the original method in obtaining said item), then I think that’s fair.
Also, I think 1,000 badges a day is very do-able, especially if you only do EOTM. In my eyes it certainly takes a lot more effort than just spending uber amounts of gold.
Like others have pointed out, I’m probably out on the figures (though I think the ascended boxes are pretty fair – I wouldn’t mind if it was raised to a maximum of 10k badges per ascended piece – though that is pushing it tbh, and 5k badges & 10g seems pretty fair in terms of the time it takes to get that amount, along with a decent gold fee)
I like the idea of being able to purchase dungeon armor with badges too. I’ve always wanted something like that – though I think they would definitely have to be at least a few thousand badges per skin, so it’s on par with the time spent obtaining it originally through the dungeons themselves, and as to not make dungeons obsolete.
I remember Anet once saying that players should be able to play the way they want, and I don’t like dungeons, but I do like WvW, so if there was a way to obtain the same reward via a different method you actually like (in order to truly play how we want) I’m all for that.
