Hello GW2 community, i am returning from a 2 year break and i was wondering. Which server(s) are looking to have a big thriving wvw community with multiple guilds to join. Any suggestions would help. thankyou

EU or NA?

For EU: any server in the top 3 tiers (#1-9) which you can find here : http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups/

You would be aiding in the death and staleness of WvW if you transfer to the #1 ranked server. The other servers are just as active and have just as much if not more guilds.

For NA: It seems all servers #7 and below are essentially casual wvw servers now. #1-6 are the active wvw servers.

whats your playstyle like? what kind of numbers do you prefer? whats your prefered timezone, I know na, but are you more active during evenings, latenight etc.

What server are you on now and what are your normal hours of play? You might be fine where you are.

For big, thriving WvW community you’d have to look at the top 7 servers.

For big, thriving WvW community during NA Prime you might need to eliminate SoS and DB – not sure, perhaps people who play on/against them could comment.

For big, thriving WvW community during NA Prime without the risk of getting dropped to T3 and facerolling for a week (or more) you’d need to look at only the top three – JQ, TC and BG.

That’s how I see it anyway.

T1 & T2 are very good…..very active. If you go T1, go JQ or BG, as TC has a lot of ques.
If you go T2, I would recommend FA(where I currently am)……lots of friendly people and some very good wvw guilds.

If you’re a really good WvW player, servers like BG might actually pay you to transfer over. Their War Council leadership have a large coffer mainly used to buy players.

I would recommend JQ. TC has already a lot of people, and BG doesnt come out to play unless there’s something at stakes.

For NA its 1-7 not 6. The issues at the moment is the 7th server slipping into T3 and thrashing the T3 servers.

TC doesn’t have queues except for EB during NA primetime (9-12 or 1) and reset night.

BG tends to hibernate or come all out.

JQ has 24 hour coverage and as of this past month is the most stacked server

I heard rumors that BG War Council is talking about tanking to get to Silver, so they can win 1st place easily. That could explain the current hibernation.

Ummm the win trading (or match manipulation) is legit……

T1 is pretty much blob on blob. T3 has to face a t2 server so they they get steam rolled all the time. Go either T2 which still has blobs, but at times of the day its pretty quiet and you can roam or do some havoc. T4 has some good fights. Much smaller blobs.

IMHO don’t try and pick the server based on the wins. One server may be the power house, and a month later, they are dead last. Myself I like T2. can find people around most the time.

If you like to command, that is a big plus!!! Maps always need commanders.

On my server FA, we tend to get into some LONG fights. Just last week spent close to 2 hours just trying to take a bay. We got it finally, but it was a heck of a fight, and one LONG fight.

Which times and what types of wvw play style appeal to you the most?

A month ago SoR was dead last. We have moved up and even placed second in tier 7 last week. The question is-are you a band wagon jumper or do you want to help a server climb the ranks. Do you want your team mates to recognize you or do you want to be another brick in the wall? Contrary to what is said here the battles are intense even on the lower servers. I chose to join SoR and haven’t regretted it in the least.

I am actually going to kind of snatch this thread and ask further, but please read my questions for what it is, i am not out to offend anyone, i just want to find the right server for me, and i already failed one time and spent 1800 gems for it so, take it for what it is, my personal view.

Ok so my main account is on a EU server, if i compare the top tier servers in EU to the one in NA the difference is huge. I don’t know what words to use to not offend NA top tier players, you are in the top and deserve to be there, and the way you guys fight are your way and obviously working for you. How ever as said, i am very used to a more um aggressive and forward play style, with a overall higher knowledge of tactics from commanders and pugs. And every time i log in this second account i have on the top tier na server i get so frustrated and mostly leave again within an hour or less, and i don’t want that anymore. So i will move this second account again, but what i need and want is a server that is maybe more guild focused, more agressive in playstyle where the server actually don’t avoid bigger blobs because they at not them self even bigger. Now i don’t mind fights in bigger scales, i like it all, but i don’t like to run around an empower for 20 min and then when enemies charge you, commander turns around and run, because they were 20 people more.

Again don’t take it wrong, i just want to find the server that suits me personally. So is there a server in say top 10, who focus more on guilds, fights and are very active. I am on one of the top 4 now, and the other 3 there that i met do not really impress me either. So is there any other server that is very active and don’t fear bigger blob/zergs/groups because their pug commanders and pugs have the knowledge of how to break a bigger group then we have. Oh also i wont be playing that much, my main focus is on the EU server, but i have insomnia, and sometimes i just want to change the view of people for a few hours, and that will mostly be around 8-9 in evening your time and forward.

Please please please let me know of such server, i want to move the account as soon as possible

It’s less likely that will happen on the other two T1 servers given that Blackgate still has more individual guilds during NA prime, even if they run less players compared to our competitors.

Heck, sometimes our pugmanders will simply send a whisper to an enemy commander to come fight them. Sometimes it works

Spend 9.99 for an alt account this weekend. Use that account as a bank and scout for which server meets your needs before spending the gems on your main account….

Poor form, how the kitten would you know what happened on the other 2 servers? Most JQ guilds accept non guild members tagging along and in TS with them, in fact we prefer it.

False. In the case of NA, they are only at the top because of the time they spent there when they had the coverage. The score take a very very long time to adjust. A vast amount of T1 players have moved to server 4-7 as well as those below 7, having moved up.

I actually like being on a small server. I like the smaller fights. But I’m weird…

I am sorry but it is BG i am on and want to get out from. I met the other 3 top servers through BG as enemies and i don’t want to go to them either. I feel i can not tell flat out what i look for, because people would see it as me trolling or flaming, but it is not i just want to find the server of my like. And since i am on a tier 1 server today in EU i do know what i can and can not expect, and it is VERY different from those is seen in NA so far. But i want that different, so please if any of you know what i am trying to say, and what server this might be, let me know.

having transferred to BG about 4 months ago, I can tell you that roamers are all over the place (pick a map) if you want to blob up that’s always an option, it is very nice to be able to pick and choose what I want to do on any given day and not have to hunt for hours trying to find it. and T1 in general is a community all in itself which makes WvW much more enjoyable ( no QQ at all )
