Most commonly seen professions in a zerg
Is anyone else noticing that whenever you run into a zerg about 80% of it is usually composed of warriors, guardians and necros.
Warriors making up a huge chunk of it, guardians following behind warriors and necros following behind guardians. Then the rest is like a small amount of everything else. Just wondering if anyone else is noticing this? I’m facing two of the zergiest servers atm so maybe thats why but idk.
It’s mostly warriors because warrior is the most-played class. Seems kind of obvious. Necros work well against other zergs, and guardians support huge groups. It makes sense to me.
It’s just the most basica comp, Mesmers have thier uses and contribute greatly to a group, but unless you plan on having 100% uptime on viel while moving around the map there is no need to have a bunch of them.
Thieves have their uses in large groups, but are much more valuable elsewhere, but unless spec’ced specifically for zergs they are kind of limited, and even spec’ced for it other class does their job better.
Rangers. This is probably the red head step child of Anet, I feel sorry for them.
Ele’s really useful, but I think most people find their role/play in group pretty boring compared to other classes, so we’ll be lucky to have 3-4 staffies in a zerg.

More like water field dispensers.
Engineers have several uses against zergs, but I find them hard to 1v1 people because they’re a mix of classes yet lack durability. An excellent second-line class, but don’t expect them to tank damage.
What MMO isn’t setup like this though? Theres always main classes you run in large engagements with others holding more specialized roles. Honestly i’d be more surprised if it was even.

It’s all about survivability.
Warriors and Necros have the biggest base hitpoints, and every Guardian is forced to spec for Tough/Vitality because they get the lowest base HPs.
Warriors are by far the most forgiving class to play and at the moment it does not take to much to be good on one. Guardians have by far the best group support and decent survivability. Necro is a one trick pony in Zerg fights, equip staff, tag people, collect bags.
then you have veil bots and water field dispensers are needed.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
Perma stun makes warriors ez mode and 80% of the Zerg. All I hear now is calls for hammer stun. Lol.
necros, huh? I didnt notice that.

That’s the worse part about fighting a zerg mostly composed of warriors, whoever has more wins usually because of the aoe stunning. With massive damage to boot. and for whatever reason every single one of them takes forever to kill even with 20 people on them i can see why most zergs are composed of mostly warriors but it gets old.

I feel like eles can be replaced by guardians who seem to be better at group support than they are and i feel bad for rangers to they could use some love.
most of the zergs are mainly warriors, then guardians, then eles and then necros……then thieves and engi, and then 1-3 mes to veil the zerg and maybe an unlucky ranger somewhere.

Engineers would be a decent Staff ele replacement if they weren’t so clunky with their fields and had some lightning. I don’t know what it is but the Ele is just so much smoother when laying down the fields, Engi’s water fields almost feel like a chore.
Yep, that’s how it is. Hammer trains with a few staff eles for water fields and necros for condi AoE.
Staff Ele’s aren’t really that readily replaced. the bring good water fields and static fields, possibly still the best wall siege clearers. I won’t deny people saying that warrior hammer train are powerful, but warriors have been heavily used since forever even before the heavy Hammer Meta. But saying whoever has the most wins is simply untrue, it’s almost as bad roamer vs zerg arguements where roamers claim that zerglings only mash 1 to win (of course they also say that it has to be a hammer train that mash 1 to win, since we all know the #1 is the highest DPS skill of any class, especially warriors, since it stuns, immobilise adds 25 stacks of vulrn, and grats AoE might.)
Necros work well when they can fight without being targeted, hence why you see so many necros that only fight in zergs and then the odd superior necros that roam.

I think alot of ppl say they only mash #1 because its true to a degree, not because they are skilless or bad or whatever but quite often depending on the size of the zerg or zergs when they clash the only ability that fires is #1.

It really depends on how extreme you want to be in terms of classes being replaced.
30 mantra Mesmers would be fun to see. Each healing 13000HP AoE roughly every 5s, that’s 390K HP every 6s. Combined HP in the group is around 600K I guess, so that’s 65% of the entire groups HP recovered. Note that this is one skill we are talking about. Then add phantasmal regen on top and constant chaos storms for aegis and protection. People would just explode from having power spike come from any direction at any given time, even if the train is running in the opposite direction. None of them would actually use the 1 button for added hilarity. But of course the skill would never actually work because there is 30s skill lag for added irony instead.
But anyway, warriors and guardians are obviously the most seen professions. Eles, necros and mesmers are good classes that you must have a few of. Rangers, theives and engineers are basicly pointless. They can bring some good stuff (ranger stun, theif scouting, engineer support) but its not enough compared to the others. Basicly trash that you stack on an already feature complete group.

2 guardians (alt heal/pure voice/insert similar bunker build) and 3 hammer/banner warriors per party. Multiply as needed. No need to bring anything else to the party as they will probably die when the enemy pushes to the back. Yes this is becoming a fairly standard skill group makeup so much so that WvW needs some adjustments to heavy armor classes or bring up the group durability of other classes.

Haven’t you guys heard of a thing called stability? You won’t get stunned and if you guys can burst them harder, watch them crumple like the ’zerk warriors they are.
Warriors warriors everywhere!!!!
Rangrorn Charr Necromancer
Ultimate Legion [UL]
Run 1 support guard with group stability in every party. yea, some of it will get stripped, but as a guard I can rock 5 group stabilities and a group stun breaker, I run 4 as default, go to the 5th one if needed.
Also, make sure you use correct armors / buffs. If you are having issues against hammer trains and necros, run 6x rune of melandru + saffron bread, not lemongrass, not MF, not DPS and not the healing food, run saffron bread which stacks with the runes of melandru and some misc PVT gear.
Hammertrain / necro problems solved.

Because in most zerg fights, your only reliable key is “1”.

Thanks. People like you convince me even more not to invest any kind of money in this trash game anymore. I invested quite a lot of time into my engineer. And I refuse to roll a warrior as anyone else and do the stupid grind for WvW all over. No thanks.
