What class is the most fun/best for defending towers/keeps? Let’s assume I don’t always have access to siege.

I can’t really answer what the best one is, but the most fun is a clear enough answer.

Warrior with the falling trait and a shield. Jump off a tower/keep, cause a knockback, then block and run back inside.

Just what does this accomplish? Siege disabler, if your entire point is to cause disappointment in the enemy at least it will last a bit longer.

Back on topic LB Ranger brings his/her own arrow cart, can actually get kills in from up high, etc. Engi with nades, doesn’t have the burst but does have that annoying condi.

I prefer Engi over Ranger as the Engi is just as annoying when sieging and not just defending.

It disrupts an unorganized enemy group, as it knocks people off of siege and forces others to focus you instead of more important things. I can’t tell you how many times I got people to stop attacking others who are on the wall just because they wanted to catch me when I came jumping down. There are probably better things to do, but this definitely fulfills the “fun” part of his question.

I’d have to say Mesmer.

You’ve got the same access to supply, and inventory, so you can carry all the siege. The thing that sets Mesmer apart, specifically for defending is portal. If your enemies are reallllly carefully watching the gate, you can portal your allies into the tower/keep.

If you’re building siege alone, you can lay a portal at the supply hut and open it to get supply and build faster.

If you’re alone in a tower with a friendly camp nearby its likely that you can lay a portal in the tower, run to the camp and port yourself back up to the tower with your supplies. This trick works with both the northern towers in the borderlands, if you can figure out where to put the portals.

If you’re getting omega rushed, you have Feedback, which is fabulous for damaging stupid golem drivers.

and last but not least, If you fail to defend the tower, you can hide and portal allies in to recap it.

Really any, IF a nice programmer would plug miss sass’ and my /Moon command into the sandbox.

Until THEN, i suggest bringing your moosie or reindeer tonics.

Well, at least I thought that one was funny …

Against zerg, ele is best, best AE’s.
Against solo roamer or two, warrior is best. Nothing more fun than rushing out of your tower and running over your enemy.
