The only good solution for the spiralling time-zone influenced imbalances in population, is to have population dynamically cap, so the most populated side never gets more than 10% more players than the least populated side. Start shifting players from map to map, or move them out of WvW entirely.

Also remove orb buffs, anything that makes a winning side more likely to keep winning is terrible game design for a 3-way WvW system.

Keep server transfers free, and the population will start to rebalance itself.

Having an unopposable zerg leap around from map to map at will, 10-1 steamrolling and capping everythingm, then upgrading it all night, while nearly everyone from the other 2 servers is asleep is a spiralling problem, that drives people out of WvW at unbalanced times, making the problem get steadily worse and worse.

Also show in game queue time data for queueing all WvW all maps, displaying all involved servers, so people can see where to server xfer.

limiting Wuvwuv just because it doesn’t suit your needs is wrong.

servers who have a diverse group of players will vs a server who also has a diverse group of players.
servers who dont will vs servers who dont.
if those ELO number rankings mean so much to you, then please, go ahead and transfer to HoD and win every game. i just wish you would play up to their standard and have as much respect for us as we have respect for them.

I agree that this is the only feasible solution, though I would change the formula:

Population cap should = the sum of the two smallest teams.

So if the population is:
60/50/30 then the popcap is 80.

If the population is:
80/10/5 then the popcap is 15 (and the team with 80 players online will simply have a queue until the population drops)

It doesn’t really matter if Red outnumbers Blue, even if it’s by a wide margin. Where it gets ugly is when Red outnumbers Blue + Green combined.

when people say off peak who’s of peak are they talking about mine yours or somone elses??? there is no off peak in wvw just servers that have a bad geographical makeup. if you want your server to be competitve in wvw start recuiting people from all timezones and stop with the stupid ideas that will not work and will only make wvw like a bg on wow and nobody wants that.

With your suggestion, isn’t the best overnight strategy to ensure absolutely nobody queues? I don’t ever like solutions that basically boil down to “let fewer people play” since that obviously means less people having fun. Why would you want to remove fun from a video game?

I think all this will work itself out anyways. Servers that can field night crews will naturally rise through the ranks, and those that can’t handle overnights will fall down to matchups with other servers that can’t handle overnights.

Or the low number player area player get a passive buff as well as some npc spawns coming from the spawn to even things out at the first fort.
