As we know arborstone is populated by both french from europe and canadian french making the server active 24/7 since they’re constantly at peak hours.

As you can see in this screenshot: http://shrani.si/f/42/MT/4lSYNsPb/gw123.jpg they are completely dominating both servers. We can’t do anything becasue there are just too many of them all the time…

Don’t think I’ll be touching wvw at all until we get a better balance, since I constantly lose money on armor repairs too.

In that case I’m still waiting for ANet proof about where the players come from on each server. The fact that people are able to play during the night or are lagging is not a proof, if that was the case then I would be canadian 2 days per week.

If a server has a 24/7 coverage, then it deserves to go higher in the rankings, that’s all. But it’s true that the free server transfers don’t bring balance to anything.

Arborstone is populated by one of the strongest, if not the strongest, french MMO alliance. Arborstone is the home of MoS, Millenium Old School, and if I’m not mistaken or misguided, Fureur too.

Nuff said.

I don’t know if they have or don’t have any fellas from Quebec but take my word they don’t even need them. They just schedule their playing time as an Alliance and have rotations for night shifts.

Lol, i could have taken dozens of screenshots where Arborstone is way ahead during daytime, so please gtfo with your stupid screenshot. Everybody playing this matchu-up knows that Arborstone is dominating both during night and daytime.

Completely false.

Arborstone gained 17.5k advantage in the night between friday and saturday. That advantage was kept more or less at that same level for the rest of saturday, then saturday night AS night-recapped everything and on sunday morning they held an advantage >30K. At that point, for obvious reasons, overall WvW participation in Desolation declined sharply.

How about everyone who doesn’t have the balls to face a stronger oponent just transfers away from Desolation? The server would gain so much from that… C’mon, do it! It’s still free at the moment!

Yesterday, sunday 22h30 GMT+1, arborstone owned every keep in desolation map. You guys just sux in primetime, so it’s just obvious that you can’t compete either on night time.

Or do like i did and move to a USA server, Stormbluff / Henge of Denravi / Jade Qauri are all good servers for Europe player to play on.
I moved away with my friends and left Far shiver peaks behind as i was getting tired of the non excistend canadians who fill up their queues 24/7 and say they rock

i have almost no lag so i dunno what people are talking about playing overseas, also i have a 100Mbit connection maybe thats why i dont seem to have such lag ?

Anyway, want to play on servers with 24/7 players ? transfer over to USA and never look back at the mickey mouse top eu servers.

“Nightcapping” is a valid tactic, they are organised enough to execute it well. They thereby deserve the points they are getting.

Either way, it´s a lame matchup, everyone wants close matches like last week against Gunnar and Augury, this time it´s just lols like against the VS canadians.

David, I’ve a lot of respect for you IRON guys, you’re certainly the best WvW guild on Desolation right now, but I don’t think you’re getting the full picture here. Most of the players on Desolation have already taken your advice, so to speak; they didn’t leave the server but they simply didn’t queue for WvW anymore past Sunday morning. I could enter EB with zero queue Sunday at 10:00AM, and with less then a 10-minute queue at 11:00AM. And this was on the most populated map, and on a weekend day.

Having even LESS players is not going to do Desolation any favor in gaining points.

[EDIT] also stop the macho-man “do not whine” posturing please, if there’s something childish is exactly that. I’m providing data points here. Truth is: AS gained 18k during night capping first night, then less than 2k in the next 10 hours; they are dominating NOW, even during prime time, simply because no one is queueing up anymore in Desolation.
On the one time during the game when we had equal numbers they did gain a slight advantage but calling that “total domination” is beyond ridiculous. As I said, they’d be winning anyway, but with a much smaller advantage.

A close match that Desolation mostly won because of nightcaping. Augury Rock was closing on you during the day, unlike what you are doing with Arborstone now.

Funny thing is, I first heard of letting the three French servers in the top bracket from IRON guys. Maybe Bloodsteel doesn’t know what’s going on in his own guild.

Personal attacks against other servers isn’t going to get anyone anywhere but irritating people. I’m on Desolation myself, and yes we are getting outdone by night cappers. The biggest solution would be to try and set up Night capping guilds on our server to at least try and counter it. Anet aren’t going to move the ‘French’ servers away from us, they are currently near the top as we are. It’s all competition at the end of the day.

The thing is, I see people blaming ‘Canadians’ – well i originally come from a server called Seafarer’s Rest and they have a good night capping team, and ‘an international server – it’s because they ahve a strong alliance that rotates nightshifts.

I always chuckle when people jump to the defense of nightcappers, saying theyd dominate aswell during the day.
Please stop this nonsense excuse. You get more from nightcapping then just a ton of easy points.
How about 3 orbs for 15% more health and 150 extra stats is not nothing. And those upgraded keeps and towers, stuffed with siege equipment sure helps aswell.

You not only start the day with a headstart, but with an advantage aswell. And whatever is lost, is just wood without proper siege cover. Much easier to reclaim again. With the more available attackers since a properly equiped tower/keep needs less people to actually defend it.

Magnus, what you fail to understand is this:

1. We will not win this weeks WvWvW
2. it doesn’t matter a single bit if we win or not as long as it is fun to play and it is, because it is challenging and rewarding at the same time (at least if you play in an organised group, if you are not, well … you are making a mistake…)
3. Stop blaming “nightcapping” – again: it’s a valid tactic, it’s not worth any less than playing during the day — so if arbor can keep this up they deserve to win.
4. we need more organised wvw guilds on deso. so if players leave wvw this week because they are getting their kitten kicked, well let them, the puppy-zerg will come back once it is a different match up and we are winning again – thats the way it works… any devoted wvw player will keep playing wvw no matter if we are loosing or winning. if anything this decline in players just shows how much desolation lacks dedicated wvw players at the moment (except for a few small guilds and IRON as the big guild (there may be more i don’t know about, as i am playing exclusively on augury rock borderlands…)
5. it is not at all macho-man-behavior by me, it is my point of view on these things. i personally enjoy playing organised wvw. if people who do not share that passion leave wvw and clear up more space for guildies to get in without que that is absolutely fine by me as i can communicate with them and trust them to do what is necessary.
6. in all of this let me also say that the people that are not in our wvw guilds and still keep playing wvw really have become a lot better at communicating and working as a team, so props to all of you who are making a real effort.

once again: the zerg will come back once the next matchup starts next week.

Desolation needs dedicated WvW players, not people running away at the sight of a loss. We would do so much better as a server if people would just work together

As far as I know, IRON has declared a PvE week for its members, and there isn’t anyone left after recent transfers to stand up late at night for Desolation.

In reality, it’s impossible to setup nightcapping guilds without significant population of people who can stay late often, and by late I mean like 4-5 a.m. Even one hour weak window before the morning shift is enough to lose all your keeps, orbs, upgrades, and siege.

Some think EU countries hit hard by the recession have more unemployed players, but if there was any truth to that we would have a Spanish server on top, and we don’t, in fact I don’t think there’s a high ranked Spanish server at all.

If you have American players, even a small number, they’ll naturally exploit this weak window with gamechanging effect.

We do try to get things organised in the Augury Rock Borderlands.

Our success can be measured by how we kept AH against a continuous attack by Arborstone yesterday evening starting at about 1am (GMT+1). Oh and we still had AH when I left for work today at 6am. That’s right. 5hours straight defending and we managed. I have no idea how things went afterwards, as I had to leave for work, but i would imagine we will have lost the keep eventually. It was an epic battle and great fun!

Your information is correct, we are mostly farming our gear at the moment (as in all of the guild should have full exotic gear next week…(yes, we are actively helping each other out there.))

However our core wvw-playerbase (me included) is still in wvw every single day and trying to keep things as organised as possible. We do manage it to a certain point, but we obviously do not have our full power available this week.

(Oh and before somebody says we are afraid of arbor or something, having this “casual-week” was decided long before we even knew who we were up against. ;-) )

Zid you do make a valid point, but we need a hadful of people or even just one to gather up any night players under one banner. i still see a fair few people at night just standing in LA or random map chats :P IRON do a good job, but that is only one of a handful of servers, we need more. As for server trasnfers – that has been touched in many other threads and it is a major problem for WvW imo

AS have a strong wvw alliance “L’étendard sanglant” ( Bloody Flag ), Grand Cross was created to fight against us initially ( but GC are 2/3 more that us ;/ ). If we can, we will kick the kitten of VS of their first place.

AS will make no alliance with any other server, we don’t care if we fight against french, russian, english, german… we see a red, we kill it , it’s all.

Have 3 french serv on the top 3 will be fun ( and make many drama<3 ), but it’s not our goal, we are not here to help or ally with other french serv.

I want a spectator mode for the week of AS vs VS vs ? !

FYI there aren’t so much Canadian players on FR servers, most of them are playing on US servers for better latency, and also because the french community is quite special (e.g. /t is used for trolling and other franco-french discussions instead of clear info on moves etc.).
The fact is many french players don’t have a job and play during the night.

Can’t have 3 French servers at the top I think. AR a bit behind the 2 strongest ones and FR and JS are far behind. FR and JS are filled with “normal” people with a life outside GW2.
