Just making this thread to get some information about Dragonbrand, a server which several friends and I are seriously considering transferring to. We have gotten tired of how empty Isle of Janthir is now, both in PvE and WvWvW, so we were thinking it was time to move on to a more active server.

As such I have a couple of questions I would like to ask people who either were on Dragonbrand recently or are currently playing on it, in regards to general server trends, namely:
*Is the server populated in all PvE zones, not just one or two, including Orr?
*Do players socialize much in PvE using map and/or local chat?
*Is there good communication in WvWvW between players/guilds?
*Is the server active during Oceanic peak hours?
*Is there a wide variety of guilds, namely PvX ones, to choose from on the server?

Also, if anyone has transferred to Dragonbrand from Isle of Janthir, it would be especially much appreciated if you could give some feedback on the change and whether or not it was a good idea.

For PvE, you can guest on any server in the same region after the 28th update so WvW should be more of your concern for what server you want to be in. DB has good Oceanic presence and I’d imagine they have good communication as well. From the point of view of an opponent, they seem pretty good.

I am aware of guesting, but the reason I ask about PvE on Dragonbrand in particular is that I would prefer to stick to one server once I find a decent guild on it and as such I would prefer an active PvE environment to an empty one.

Our guilds communicate and work very well together. During oceanic time we have numerous guilds still on. At 4am NA central time I still have no problem finding dungeon groups in map chat. As far as Orr population, it’s good and growing. If anyone’s having problems with Balthazar just send a pm to another guild and 99% they will send some guys if not bring a Zerg. GL with whatever your decision is!

Our PvE population is large so maps are populated.

Yes

*Is there good communication in WvWvW between players/guilds?

Yes, the WvW guilds communicate and strategize for upcoming matches.

Our WvW players are quite dedicated even when things look bleak we are still fighting.

*Is the server active during Oceanic peak hours?

We have a great oceanic presence part of the reason we get double teamed during NA hours alot. Because of this we all have become strong at defense.

*Is there a wide variety of guilds, namely PvX ones, to choose from on the server?

Yes.

Alright sounds good, thank you all for answering, though we’ll probably just wait for a few more people to provide feedback before we finalize our decision.

You should come to FA to play with all the old IOJ people very competitive wvw and I’ve noticed a fair amount of people in the world when I was going for 100% map complete

Our guild just moved – so far its a friendly server with a positive attitude for wvw. It is only our first night here though so i might be wrong, but we arent going anywhere

Im’ sure those questions got answered,
But I’m gonna take this opportunity to answer them myself as well. More information, the better.

This one I can’t answer accurately anymore. I’m told our PvE coverage is good but I really don’t spend any time there anymore.
*Do players socialize much in PvE using map and/or local chat?
I quite frequently have conversations with people outside of guild chat. Map chat is usually pretty active in most places.
*Is there good communication in WvWvW between players/guilds?
The communication in WvW varies, but overall is very good. The core guilds that have been around DB forever will all communicate just about everything they’re doing. There are a couple newer transfered guilds that I’ve noticed keeping to themselves a little more, but I’m hopeful that they’ll settle into DB better.
*Is the server active during Oceanic peak hours?
Oceanic and Asian peak hours are our most active time, but not by a large margin since our NA crew grew quite a bit.
*Is there a wide variety of guilds, namely PvX ones, to choose from on the server?
Especially as of late, there have been quite a variety of guilds to choose from. Anything from smaller 50~ man guilds up to the 500 member goliaths.

We’ve made our decision and several of us have moved to Dragonbrand now, thanks for all the feedback

Welcome to DB. My guild just moved from GoM to DB and merged with [EA]. Its proven to be a good world with active PvE, sPvP, and WvW.
