Friday night, when the match ups reset, I saw EB in the lead and it didn’t take a genius to realize that after the beating TC and Mag took the week before, EB would get focused on for a while without anyone having to say anything. It’s basic strategy!

But after talking with some people in GOON and SFD (personal friends, not officers or anything) we came up with an experiment wherein by putting up a fake call to arms we might be able to anger some of EB’s players and demoralize them in an act of psychological warfare. So I posted! I said ‘hey TC and Mag let’s ally and take down EB!’ and we sat back, occasionally posted to induce error, and watched with popcorn.

After all the reports of people believing there is a real alliance, the insults being flung around, the conspiracies! being built, we smiled and knew we had done our job.

I just wanted to give a nice, big shout out to the EB folks on this forum for giving us a laugh and making it worth our time to set this up by reacting so strongly to something that’s not even there.

You folks, have officially been trolled, and it was amazing.

Once TC moves on (they are the superior players, and I wish them the best of luck in the upper WvWvW bracket!), perhaps EB and Mag will rematch. When that happens, phase 2 of the idea I cooked with my friends will begin. Where phase 1 was an experiment to test how a server would react to a perceived alliance (outcries, whining in /team and /map, conspiracy theories, etc), phase 2 is an experiment to test how poorly that same server would play in a rematch against this perceived alliance, and whether or not the tunnel vision-induced rage causes them to play poorly and lower their guard.

Hopefully it proves to be as entertaining as phase 1 has been! Keep at it, EB, we -love- watching you denounce conspiracies and alliances that don’t really exist (and for that matter, we love seeing how badly it affects you in team and map chat, hint hint).

Congratulations Maguuma on ensuring your own loss. You could have beat TC had you been smart to ally with the lowest of the ranked and pop’d servers in this match up. Great troll was a wonderful tactic to ensure victory for yourself.

That’s an awful long post to try to justify why the Goons lost to TC. I suppose this means that your members are deserting quite fast for the better WvW servers.

I am a Maguuma resident and, for the record, I disapprove of this degree of psychological warfare.

So, just to let you all know: The majority of us Maguuma players also had no idea what was going on with this situation, and we had nothing to do with it.

Haha the goons can’t do anything that involves thinking past “Let’s all get together and mob”. I’m actually quite amazed that words such as “psychological”, “warfare”, and “the” are even known to them.

Anyways, alliance or not there have definitely been some good fights. Well, atleast from TC. I haven’t seen anything worth while from Goons except for lag. I GUESS that’s a viable tactic.

Still think it’s funny that Maguuma keeps coming after us fighting for second place. Or for that matter why the majority of EB keeps going back after them.

Props to the groups on all 3 servers that understand how 3 way warfare actually works and tries to conduct as such.

Totally agree, my guild ran into packs of [GOON] members many times. They seem to like throwing themselves at are gates and squads over and over only to be wiped out by us each time they tried. They kept trying to take some towers without siege only to fail. Trying to take our keep over and over only to fail, even when my guild was clearly out numbered during some of the fights.

We actually discussed their tactics during our guild events this past week and we were honestly kinda mystified by them, their tactics were very illogical. My guild was pushing TC very hard several times and along comes [GOON] pushing us while we push TC? Kinda dumb if you ask me. Dunno why [GOON] would rally with TC to push us when TC is winning and we were in last place.

[GOON] did a good job making this “troll fake” alliance seem very real to us, specifically when [GOON] was pushing us at the same time as TC at our keep, and hell even that failed for both TC and [GOON] even after almost 2 hrs of the same tactic. Smart thing would have been for [GOON] to push TC.

In the end we all decided they were just not very smart.

While you are a troll and should be banned from the forums for this thread alone it is too late to rewrite history.

Maguuma played for second. Don’t try to repair your repuation now.

If anything, TC and EB have more respect for each other now.

This actually wasn’t a GOON endeavor or anything so I’d appreciate people not throwing guild-wide accusations out, it was just 3 of us who thought it would be hilarious. I’d note that it’s pretty much your fault for blowing it out of proportion, though.

Either ways I’ll see you guys on friday when we begin phase 2 if we’re paired up against EB again. Can’t wait to see if they end up in third place again because of the conspiracy theorists.

P.S. Playing for second is still better than playing for third.

Everyone is always trying to maximize their own server’s points. Sometimes that means attacking the weaker opponent. Capitalize on opportunity, dont stand on principles.
