My dad bought a bar many years ago. It was one of those places that never stayed open for more than 6 months before he bought it. It was know for a rowdy crowd and nightly fights. Like the bar in Roadhouse.

My dad did not have Patrick with his KungFu throat grip. Instead, if someone couldn’t control their behavior, they were "86"ed for life. The rowdies were gone, nice working people who just wanted to dance and relax with their wife or date felt safe. My dad kept the place going for 15 years.

WvW is like a rowdy bar right now. The hackers are running the show and ruining it for everyone else. When people say “roamer” I think “hacker” since I run into so many when I’m roaming. They are everywhere. Guy ran right thru a 20 man zerg solo….never slowed, and his health bar hardly wiggled.

A lot of folks just are not coming into WvW because they are tired of fights they can not win because of the rampant cheating. Why is it so hard to report someone for hacking? Shouldn’t there be a “hacking” option in the report function?

Why aren’t we getting weekly or monthly reports of x many people banned? If there was some kind of proof that people were getting banned, others might be disinclined to join the hackers bandwagon. (Of course, if no one is getting banned, there is nothing to report)

If the problem is being ignored, as many have speculated, why not change the policy? Just tell everyone that “mods” are allowed so we can all zoom, speed, teleport, invisibility hack (sorry….“mod”) and level the playing field.

90% of zoom hackers that “was spotted” is not more then nabish “spotters”.

Maybe there would be an option to report for hacking if 95% of the reported “hacks” weren’t just ill-informed players failing to understand game mechanics.

Yeah, I was also accused of hacking some time ago. It was in PvP though. But it was quite funny. I shouldn’t have used my one stealth skill I had on my skill bar at the time

I’ve been round wvw a while now.

Outside a certain server or two, from EU i believe, who had rampant hacking and cheating going on, I have heard of no one leaving the game because of hacking. If you are facing one of those servers, then yes, I feel sorry for you, but this is not a wvw plague or anything.

Dude, guardian shelter and renewed focus would get him though any amount of slightly unaware players (I’ve done it before, cool down management ftw)…..and long as the tail was short enough, war can do it too, ele is capable of it, hell a ranger might pull it off if they got the proper setup.

Lastly, I don’t take anyone’s word for “the roamer was hacking”. I’ve 1v2 or 3’d people with a standard axe/sh gs war build and they’ve called hax on me, I put sw/sh gs on my war with the purpose of trolling people, led them around their own bl a while, they called me a hacker. I’m hardly a stellar player, but even worse with my pc.

I do not see the wvw you see.

I don’t disagree about the bugs or lack of remedy. I do disagree that hackers are a minor nuisance. They are nearly impossible to spot in a zerg unless they are zoom hacking while using siege. That’s why I mentioned roamers = hackers, since they are much easier to spot when not lost in the crowd.

I rather expected the noob calling and defense of hacking by people saying such and such is possible. I’ve seen people fighting a hacker 5v1 and not realize the reason they all lost was because of hacking, not skill or equipment.

Engineers don’t constantly blink in and out, downed players don’t keep moving or jumping around like popcorn. Players don’t run at a constant +50% speed. The skills that allow different abilities have limitations. Hackers remove the limits and/or assign abilities to classes that should not have them.

Most of the hackers are subtle, while some are blatant since there is no evidence that anyone is doing anything about it. I think hackers like to brag about their prowess while hiding the fact they are cheating. They are the weakest is skill and willpower however. They must rely on cheats in order to claim victories they could not otherwise obtain.

After I won a 1v3, somebody whispered me and said they reported me for aim-bot.

I rarely see hackers, last I seen was a few month’s ago and I managed to kill him which was pritty lol, so this feels more like a learn the game thing to me right now.

Yeah, with stances traited you can stand in the middle of an enemy blob for at least 10s, then get out and fully heal yourself with defiant stance, no problem.

Indeed, I have never run into one while roaming, almost always around keeps, seen a few flying across the map, very VERY easy to spot. And zoom hacking is harder and harder to tell, before people call zoom hacking they should try playing the game on an ultrawide monitor, you can see well up onto walls etc just like people can do with screen stretching etc.

You don’t see people blatantly leaping over walls or zooming away at 200% speed very often precisely because it is too obvious, and they quickly get reported.

On the other hand it’s probably hard to tell the difference between some builds and a hacker, because of balance issues. Plenty of room for a hacker to nudge the odds in their favour without being blatant about it.

I have a shout/warhorn warrior with runes and traits that make him almost impossible to pin down, and I can shed conditions and damage faster than most classes can deal it. Some players probably think I’m cheating when I run that build. If I was actually cheating, all I’d have to do would be to remove the cooldowns on shouts and the warhorn and I would become totally unstoppable. It would be very hard for an enemy player to tell the difference.

It amazes me how people are making assumptions.

The eng didn’t stealth…..he was blinking in and out like a xmas light for 4-5 minutes and defeated a group of 2 war, a mez, a thief, and a ranger…. twice.

The zerg runner was a necro and he did not switch forms. Just dropped some marks and wells.

The speed runner was a ranger. He out ran a mez and war.

The popcorn jumping downed player was another ranger.

The downed player who’s body kept going like he wasn’t downed was a thief. I’ve also seen a mez and ranger pull this, but under water.

I’m in WvW 4-5 hours a day either roaming or defending since I’m not a fan of the zerg unless it’s with my guild. I run fully leveled ranger, necro, mez, and thief…but prefer my necro. My ele is lvl 78 currently, mostly leveled in WvW. However, I expect my ele to get stomped because she’s not geared up yet.

I probably only win somewhere around 30% of my 1v1’s (some classes win more than others). This does not count the many thieves or mez who ran off. I don’t count any of the times where I was defeated in my hacking observations….I was to busy fighting to really observe. Every instance I mentioned above are cases where I watched what happened without being in combat, usually from a wall, bridge or hill.

When I started WvW, I attributed a lot of what I saw to skills or builds or classes I was unfamiliar with. However, I now run different classes and know there are certain things they can not do.

I have also taken the time to look up the gw2 hacks to know what people are cheating with….and are capable of. You might be surprised by how much is available if you take the time to look it all up. It’s discouraging. I notice it now more than I use to because I didn’t know what I was looking for.

Because I am a roamer. I’ve been accused of hacking on several occasions because clearly that is the only way a ranger can beat people 1vX. Just because someone handed you your kitten doesn’t mean they were hacking.

And I have out ran Nike wars before on my guard, sure, had it gone on for a long time, he would have pulled away, but if set up for it, most classes can keep up with just about anyone else….IF speced for it. To the OP, just because these people are specced for covering allot of ground in short order, which many MANY roamers are, for the main reason of getting away from zergs or running down a solo player, does not mean they are hacking.

Hackers are a fact. Imo they are not that often as Tyeme.6589 describes, but I rarely run in other roamers when roaming myself, so I can’t really tell. All I run into are split groups from the near by zerg or whole ganking teams, that I only can run from…

I said in my very first post in this thread that we all know there are hackers in this game. What you are not showing is someone hacking while roaming. I’m sure there are a few people that do use hacks while roaming but I guarantee it isn’t “1 in 30” people.

The more you type the more I am convinced that you are a bad player that wrongly reports people for hacking when they outplay you.

I had read the whole thread up until my post you quoted. It is good that you bring forward the disprove of your statement yourself. After the evidence you brought up here I stand by my statement that he never ever said in this thread he’d win on his necro only 30% of his fights. Its a simple issue of being ready to comprehend information.

The only thing I can agree with you on is that “he might not know either” if the other players were hacking or not. The majority of roamers I’ve met are out there looking for good fights. Most of the hackers I’ve seen are looking for ways to win ppt or grief as many people as possible, so they tend to stick to towers/keeps/zergs. I’m not saying that you won’t ever see a hacker roaming but the amount of hackers roaming is nowhere near the numbers that the op is implying.

I ran into an engi like this and after 20+ minutes of fighting him, and pulling 6-7 more people into the fight, had decided he was hacking. He teleported around like crazy and when using his movement skills it looked like he wasn’t jumping but instead warping (like he was blinking) to the spot he landed in.

Turns out he wasn’t hacking. I recorded a video on my end, and he recorded a video on his end. He was actually just lagging so badly that Anet’s absolutely horrid server-authoritative movement/location replication was actually respecting where he thought he should be on his end, not where the server thought he should be and therefore reporting it on our end. I decided to take my video down after finding out he wasn’t hacking, but even from his perspective it looks like he’s glitching all over the place (you can see many of us swinging at empty air because that’s where we saw his character, not where he actually was).

At approx 5:14-5:17 is when I started suspecting him of glitch jumping/teleporting (look at how he instantly moves about 20 feet), and 5:47-5:50 was when I was sure of it — I had jumped below the bridge to go after him, because that’s where I saw him land, and then suddenly he was on top of the bridge; this is even evident on his screen.

I’m a bit more careful about accusing hackers anymore. Although [OPs] of IoJ you guys are hilarious, using your floathack underneath hills to get to the top next tp the inner cannon and porting your buddies in, classy! Note that these guys have been recorded, screenshotted, reported, many many times, and they still do it.

I used common sense, you on the other hand are apparently the most literal person on the planet. Anyway since you don’t seem to have much of an opinion on the actual topic being discussed I am done arguing with you.
