First of all, this game is tops. There are something people dont like, and there will continue to be things in this game that people dont agree with. Fact of the matter is you cant please everyone! But its good practice to try and please the majority.
I understand that WvW is a relatively new concept in gaming. I dont even know of it in other games. But beside the fact, I am sure pioneering such a dynamic is very difficult. Making a game like this is particularly difficult, which is why people cant expect everything they want straight away.
I have been playing this game since day 1. I will continue to play this game as long as I can! So here are my ideas that I think might help GW2 remain at the forefront of MMO gaming….long after games like TESO & Archaege pop up.
WvW Map Limits: I believe one of the top priority things that has been neglected is the map limits for players. Both the number of players and siege limits. Server wide, the rich get richer, and the strong get stronger……whilst the poor get poor and so on and so forth. This is especially evident on NA server, comparing kitten T2. The gap in coverage and general map numbers is unbelievable! So how can Anet produce equality throughout the higher tiers? And hopefully through NA and EU servers all together? Imagine limiting the WvW map populations on Borderlands to about 50?! That gives even the lower tier servers likes Sea of Sorrows a very good fighting chance again a server like Jade Quarry!
I believe this would encourage the players from SoR, JQ & BG to look at moving to lower tier servers to try and produce this ‘equality’ we seek, because staying on the T1 servers would evidently mean they face monster queue times!
A week of free transfer or cheap transfers could facilitate moves by all guilds?
Of course, siege cap limits would need to be adjusted too!
WvW XP Account Bound: The current idea behind this being character bound, is the biggest pigeon hole I have ever seen in a game. One would think Anet is trying to encourage attrition rather than player satisfaction? The ability to swap characters and play a different style of one of the main things that fight against attrition. I have 6 characters on level 80 fully geared. I have only played 1 since the launch of WvW XP ;/
Commander Tags: Making this resellable would be so valuable to those who play multiple characters and have changed over time. Also what about account bound? Again, encourage diversity and this will help fight in the war against attrition!
NEW MAP!: We see multple maps for sPvP get rolled out on a regular basis. Throw a dog a bone please, and give us a totally new WvW map!
Wall hacks / exploits: I know that games like Ultima Online had tiles that you could only pass over one way. They also had events where creatures were linked to items etc. What im getting at, is wall jumping is still an exploit widely use by players, either by exploitation or hack. Is it possible for Anet to look into binding the claimer to the doors / walls, and if they are not down then he is invulnerable? Obviously some sort of system would need to be in place because a legitimate mesmer hiding would be effected by said system.
I seriously think the options for map population caps could greatly increase the competition between servers, as well as limit the amount of ‘blobbing’ a server can do if they dont have 100+ people on each map, giving ‘the little guy’ a far better chance at sustained competition.
I hope some things get done in the near future for the WvW community. Cause so far, i feel like we have been given some scrap and told its diamonds. I feel very neglected at all the patches WvW has received, or lack there of. And like i said previously, i want to play this game a lot longer, and i dont want to PvE or sPvP. I want my friends to keep playing WvW, and i want to be there with them!
So i urge Anet, start working FOR the people. Because we would love to work with you to make sure Guild Wars 2 continues to thrive long after the release of TESO and Archage…..and other crapola games that will try knock GW2 off its podium.
