Not going to happen, what would happen is, the 3 top tier realms would lose players/guilds to the middle six. Playing the same two realms over and over and over and over and over and over and over for a 7 week season would be painful.

You make it sound like that isn’t what they were doing before Leagues started.

During the the pure glicko matchmaking, some people complained the matches were stale. ANet added a bit of randomization to the ladder, and every time the top three were separated, people complained that it was no longer fun.

Obviously we want, and should be, stuck together.

Leagues are a bust as far as suspense and any meaningful competition about who is going to win. There is no way to create even tiers unless there are incentives and rewards for people transferring and leveling out populations.

If they can’t figure out how to do that, just go back to the old system where all that matters is one week a a time, and you are most likely to play your closest peer servers in any matchup, with some small randomization, but not as great as the randomization in the previous matchmaking prior to season 1.

+1. That is a pretty solid idea.

Here is an idea… go back to the former system. It wasn’t great but it was better than being locked into death matches with more populated servers for seven weeks.

The OP solution would have been better (not sure how the bracketing would work) but I just want to go back to the occasional hard fight, occasional easy one and every so often an awesome somewhat balanced one.

Sadly their won’t even be a match up like that. Closest we get is HoD/FC/GoM and since it’s also going to be the week when new Fractals are coming, it’s going to be a pretty empty match up from our side :/ (unless our PvE loving players aren’t into fractals).
