Names of players that are dead.
I’m assuming this is in response to people who /sleep during the chaos of a battle in hopes that people that don’t have sound cards won’t hear the extremely loud snoring sound and give away the fact that they are still alive.
The ability to select them might also give away that they are not dead since you can’t do that with dead enemies.
I’ll just ask.. why are you having a problem telling the living from the dead?
He might be more annoyed by the fact that, for those of us who leave floating names on ALL THE TIME… dead players tend to crowd up the screen and make it seem like there’s more people there than there is.

I threw “please change the nametags of defeated enemies to gray” in the suggestion forums in the beta and encountered a similar lack of support.
very annoying at times seeing 20 red names and only 1 or 2 are alive in the group. particularly chaotic when a lot of allies are in the mix as is common in large fights in WvW.
I think if all dead players got greyed out, reviving would be hard. you can’t tell friends from foe in a major battles with lots of casualties. A mass pile of grey would leave at least some having to respawn.
Only thing i can think of is darkening the same color when dead. Still won’t be that much of a distinction.

this might be good for the culling issue as well…
to prioritize culling dead players first and aggressively.
with the out of combat res changes coming up this would have near zero impact and actual rez

Ya, I was all for graying out enemies and leaving allies the same.
But who knows, even just darkening them a good deal when dead would be a big improvement.
I like this suggestion. It would be a great addition to the option menu.
I think it’s more important for enemies. Haven’t you aoe’d a bunch of red names in a zerg only to realize later all but 1 are dead? The culling didn’t help, when sprites & names appeared suddenly, it’s like a game of “Where’s Waldo” finding the one enemy who is alive.
Tabbing enemies (or hotkeying nearest enemy) doesn’t help when a lot of enemies are downed either. I have no idea what I’ve targeted since the downed enemy and target icon are so similar.
Allies are less important since you have mini-map icons to help you see defeated allies. And the downed ally is very unique.

Dead players in WvW shouldn’t be rezzable, if that’s a word, they should have a 10 second timer, disappear from the active map and be forced to go back to the wp.
That would help OP’s issue with knowing how many enemy are still “active”. It would also help with culling and stop the need to corpse camp.
Why did I think this thread was going to be super depressing and have a list of real players that have died since release?
