Necro, Thief or Mesmer???
I’d say necro, but I’m biased, because I play one.
They’re all good for killing, it just depends on your playstyle (and how good you are with them, but let’s not go there).
What kind of player are you. Maybe if you can list some stuff you like to do with a class people can help you figure out which class best fits your taste.

Necro will kill the most in zergs from tagging. Mesmer is good at both roaming and zerging. Thief has some of the best tools for roaming but has almost no value in zergs compared to necro or mes.
Im the guy thats runnig around in the WvW trying to get some kills from people that are also just running around when i see a zerg ill join them and fight with them maybe capture a base or something… And move on roaming around the Battleground trying to get some people…
60% of the time ill be in a zerg and 40% ill be Roaming around on my own… But always trying to get a kill…
Also trying to do ME<VS<ENEMIES unless i know i will die of course

All are good for roaming and Zerging. Following list is drafted up quickly, but should still give an impression:
Mesmer
- very good in combat mobility
- some stealth and illusions allow for a tricky play to confuse the enemy
- shines in 1v1 combat, good 1vX capacity
- essential for Zerg play (portal, veil) + nice support and dmg skills
- no passive speed trait or skill
- can escape from a lost fight
Necromancer
- bad in combat mobility in comparison
- can be made very tanky while still going for high dmg output via conditions or life steal
- good 1v1 and 1vX capacity, if not much CC is involved
- highest health pool (with warrior)
- very good in Zergs for support and hitting many targets
- very hard to escape from lost fights, not much protection against CC
Thief
- very good in combat mobility
- high capacaty to stealth and evade make up for low health pool
- lowest health pool in game
- good 1v1 and 1vX abilities
- Decent dmg in Zerg fights and important to blast combo fields (Thief is the best at doing this)
- can easily escape from a lost fight
Chronomancy works, I am proof of it. Now stop asking me questions. Time must be preserved!
Aahhh Thanks this gave me an impression of what these classes are but i still dont know which one i should choose
- I have to be able to kill 1v1 and it would be very appreciated to do 1vX (1v1 is still a priority)
*I want to be good in both Zerg and Roam fights.
*I want to be able to kill every class (When i got the skills and mastered the class of course)
*I wanna_KILL_ … (What i of course already said like a million times in this thread but that is really priority number. 1 !!! Killing and 1vX!
Thanks in advance,
Your opinions really matter to me!
PS: Of course there is a possibillity that im completely wrong and that there is a Waaaaaay better killing class and also got the things i named! If so id like to hear that Just dont name the Warrior pls i dont want to roll that one. Thanks again!

No one mentions playstyles but they’re very different as well.
Necro is an ‘easy’ style to play (similar to staff ele) in that you can sit back and cast most big AoEs on cooldown while also being fairly tanky. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of build choices but the same necro builds are extremely powerful (even overpowered) in small scale and large scale fights.
Mesmer is more methodical with lots of utility but key skills like stealth, and many of their weapon skills being on long cooldowns. There is a big difference between bad, good, and great mesmers and lots of build choices.
Thief is a more ‘Kinesthetic’ class that requires precise hits at melee range and lots of camera rotations (think FPS games). All theif weapon skills share the same cooldown (initiative) so it’s your speed and precision of movement and attacks that will matter most; and not quite as much how well thought-out your skill use is. There is a huge difference between good and bad thieves that may be equalized some by the d/p cheese meta (very forgiving and fairly easy to play) while in zergs all thieves are automatically the same as they will all primarily be using short bow.

I would say necro fits your criteria best. One of the strongest in zergs as well as 1v1. Except that their 1vX (1v2 1v3+) is possibly the weakest of the three. Although usually very durable with high AoE damage, they lack escapes and could have a difficult time stomping (which makes 1v3 very almost impossible unless it’s 3 terrible players).
Mesmer in zergs is as much about utility as “killing”. Thief in zergs is daggerstorm and blast finishers, which contributes the least by far (there’s going to be plenty of thieves in zergs already… just because). On the other hand, small scale 1vX thief is best (in my experience) because consistent stealth inherent in their combat mechanics.
You can’t have everything at once. But have you considered engineer?
The mesmer is an advanced character to play – mainly because it’s so squishy, but the damage it does is pretty intense – I often do crowd control when in a zerg with my greatsword – I took out a guardian 2wice yesterday while taking a camp solo – but the second time he came back with a warrior that hit hard the first shot and I’d have to give up a ton of damage to have the defense needed against that kind of spike attack. Not worth it either because no matter what, we are light armor.

if they give me chance to change class from mesmer to others i would chance it in sec..
for large scale fights, or where has the full competitive/team-oriented group example of GvG matches, mesmers are not better in any role rather than other classes except being slot bot with your portal and veil, as celestial items however in 1v1 1v2,3 they are meta..

yeah mesmers are pretty awesome for roaming, but we are bottom tier in zergs due to clones dying before they reach for a shatter, phantasms dying too quick, not many multitargeting skills, no stability and poor poor condition cleansing. u wanna roam, go mesmer, u wanna zerg or gvg unless u wanna be a veilbot, dont go mesmer.
id say necro as it is great in zergs, give u a ton of lootbags and also great as a roamer.

i went glass cannon zerker build – I’ve done over 9k damage with greatsword – I just need my phantasm to hit once and the rest of the zerg finishes them off pretty quick after – due to practically having no armor to begin with I can justify this character as a glass cannon – but if you use pirate runes – that parrot is deadly, not sure if it takes from my stats but it has taken down other players and pulled them away from my body when I’m downed lol – so between phantasms, clones when I dodge, and the parrot, I turn into an army quick – and the clones explode confusion – I pity the foo that I turn into a moa! hah!

So Thief is the one that drops in this one so its on Mesmer and Necro now, With mesmer on top… Im probably going to make a Memer…
Unless people got other classes that are also great in the things i wanted to do of course…
