I’m ready to start an alt (Warrior) for WvW and would appreciate some advice. I don’t want to bring an uplevel to WvW in competitive matches, and last I heard crafting was the quickest route to 80. If that’s true, is there a clear winner among the crafting choices for someone who will exclusively WvW? I use consumables, so I was wondering if cooking would be a good choice in the long run in terms of saving/making money. That being said, I’m not willing to spend a bunch of time outside of WvW gathering stuff or crafting stuff.

So, essentially what I’m asking is:

- Is crafting the fastest way to 80? (if no, what is the fastest?)
- Is there a “best” line of crafting for someone who only wants to WvW and is unwilling to spend significant time on other activities.

You’ll have to max every single craft to level completely from crafting, I’d recommend getting to 35 and getting your first rare tier of gear, then upleveling in WvW.

You need only 2.5 golds to level up cooking to 400. ( with 5 hearts unlocked)
artificer and jewel are cheap too. (7 and 9 golds)

You only gain 7 level for each profession (0 to 400)

The cost is update with the current TP price.

I would complete all the starter areas too. They take a few hours to complete if you rush and the pve isn’t bad. Don’t bother doing the weapon or armor smithing professions. Too expensive to be worth it. You can level through spvp now if that is your thing,

You can level quite quickly to 30-40 in PvE, most people have one of those insta-lvl20 items in the bank to start with, and then knocking off the starting areas will get you to 40 in a couple days.

Using guides from gw2crafts or another website is the best way to go on the crafting route. Each craft will give you roughly 10 levels of XP. Using a crafting booster and ensuring you have all the materials you need in advance you can do a craft from 0-400/500 in roughly 30 minutes. Since there are 8 professions you could technically go from 1-80 in less than 4 hours… gold/materials are the prohibiting factor to that plan. I personally leveled my guardian from 30-80 in just over 2 hours crafting, but I had almost all the materials I needed already and it cost very little.

Is ease buy the food directly from the TP.

What you save making your own food (unless you have the ingredients) buying ingredients is almost nothing, maybe in very very large quantities you can save something “decent”. Imo dont wort the effort.

Also, you can buy ingredients from tp and make some popular food or some food what leave you more profit, but is not much, you need to invest a lot of gold and make a lot of food for some decent profit. If you invest idk 100g maybe you win a “decent” amount of gold from that, without effort in few hours or a day. Maybe 5% of profit, you need to analyze it carefully, the price of food fluctuate over the day. There is some websites with info about prices fluctuation in TP over the days and weeks with real time update and profit amount buying ingredients in TP for every profession, search it in google.

The best way to make money in this game is farming in pve. By far.
