I see this a lot. no one wants to defend home bl. my question/idea is way out there but do we need the home bls? what if we had 2 ebg maps instead? is this a nutso idea? ok let the yelling begin.

No its not crazy for 1 wvw map. But there needs to be space to go so it doesn’t end up choke point zerg vs zerg 100%.

I hate to bring this up frequently but in the only other game I play RvR is ESO and its all one huge map. Once you are in the mode there is no map que juggling which I suspect is the biggest fear of leaving EBG map to go defend home bl.

Only time we have trouble getting people to defend our home bl is when we are red because it’s a kitten map. Never have that problem with the alpine map.

This has been suggested several times before and yes using only generic “3-way-from-the-edges” EB design for all maps would make WvW alot more flexible. You could for example vary the amount of maps dynamically, depending on the population. This would be better for Anet (less server resources) and it would be better for us (at night when total population is like 20 players, we could go down to just a single EB, thus making no more runaway PPT)

But Anet isnt going to change anything like that. Just make minor silly tweaks. Uuuugh is 2-1-1 over yet?

because people tend to leave (enemy) from home bl moment they realise they cant take something.

if u look at EBG design all have a keep which people find important thus they have a reason to stick around for deffenders and attackers.
If home borderland is red border then i understand no1 wants to deffend, these borderlands are worthless..

Yeah, the red BL is not one many people want to head to. Call outs for a defense of the Alpine BLs tends to get a quick response on our server. Not so much for desert.

I’d take Desert Borderland over EBG any day. For the first couple of years EBG pretty much had its own sub-game on the server I play on – different commanders, different players, different guilds. I barely ever went there.

Over time that loosened up a little but we still have EBG crews and home BL crews to a significant degree. I’m not and probably never will be an EBG player. When we had three Desert BLs and EBG I spent 90% of my time on the Desert BLs, not because I liked them all that much – I don’t hate DBL but I prefer Alpine – but because I find EBG, as often as not, to be a very bad-tempered environment, full of people who don’t seem to like each other much. Alpine BLs and DBL both seem to encourage a much more friendly, co-operative spirit.

lol if you make a red bl call out the only way you get a response is if you pull ewp and as soon as the defense is over everyone ports out and i don’t blame em.

I have found the only time there is no response is typically when, there is only 1 Comm on and is mid Siege, or it is Red BL because it’s easier to just pretend it doesn’t exists. Theres all these people who supposedly love the map so they should be defending it or recapping when the enemy has finished which won’t take long because they will want to get off the map asap.

My response when I see my homeBl is the desert on reset can best be displayed by this fat cat. Music just happened to fit the week too.

Nah man. the guys that love the map are the dudes ppting it with no resistance. once their done capping it it’s on to phase 2 upgrading it. Upgrading it also has no resistance.

That’s a really good point. I bet that runaway PPT effect would be lessened by having true three-way maps.
