Not making this complicated – a queue for people who just want to fight, and don’t care what side. The queue should put people into tiers other than their own, where the fighting is reasonably close and active, and put them on weaker sides.

This will allow people on servers with queues to fight rather than wait, and give some outnumbered servers a fighting chance.

Why do you think guesting is disabled for WvW?

Lots of random people on losing side would just go merc, while people on winning side will not.

Worst idea since ever.

So make mercenary only available when all the maps for your server are queued?

Tbh, I like the suggestion.

Still a better idea than buffing arrow carts.

Fun fact: We know the game already support this “mercenary feature”.

Anet accidentally bugged it a couple of months ago, which meant that players joined on random servers after a friday reset.

Next to the no-siege-allowed-only-golems-on-EB days its been the most fun event in WvW (and slightly chaotic).

To prevent people from “leaving” their own server, guesting on a popular winning server, and causing massive queue’s.

This however, is about getting servers with massive queue’s and letting their players play in underpopulated servers that are losing. Much like an overflow.

This is a much better solution to the problem than creating WvW overflow maps for worlds with all 4 WvW maps queued but we can correct the queue problem ourselves by spreading the heck back out and stop stacking the top 4 servers. >< Granted, I would be in favor of ANET finding a way to let that happen without us having to pay for it and making sure we didn’t do something too stupid like tip the scales too far on a lower tier world. The problem is the age old one of server population =/= WvW population so they have to find another metric to lock things down with.

Lol we already have a big problem with people on our own server wasting supply in favor of the enemy. This idea would open gates for all kinds of spies and ninjas that would work for the enemy, spying, wasting supply, trolling siege in blobs, and you could not do anything against it.

2) The queue randomly assigns you to one of the two currently underpopulated sides.

You have no control. If you leave WvW, you are back in your home server.

I’m not suggesting that this the perfect solution to all problems. I’m saying that it will help get some players into fights, and help some servers get a bit of a population push.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I’d queue mercenary rather than sitting in a BL queue during prime time.

I don’t know if ques are really a problem even on black gate there is always one borderlands open apart from reset night.

It’s not just for queues, it’s for bad matchups too. People in bad matchups who want a fight can join the mercenary queue as well.
