Seems like many people I talk to are frustrated at the pace you get badges. Especially when you need 500 of these for legendary.

Seems like there is two sides to this where some people get lots of them and some people that get very few.

I have been zerging, defending and just rampaging thru WvW and I am lucky enough to get 2-4 badges a night other then the puzzles if you are lucky and they are not locked down by the competing worlds.

At that pace you looking at like 250 nights at about 4-5 hours which just doesnt seem justified to earn that many badges.

I have shouted out ideas while playing in which many have agreed that we should be awarded for other acts as well in WvW to balance it out.

For example people defending an area and are successful should get a badge as part of the event award, people attacking a keep, mil or whatever and successfully take it over should receive a badge as an event award.

Everyone works as a team so think badges should be awarded for different aspects instead of just kills and puzzles in which you can run around a whole night and kill and not even get a badge from those dropped loot bags.

I’ve been playing a mix of WvW, PvE, PvP ever since the game got released.
The point is, I don’t put in crazy hours regarding WvW and I’ve got well over 500 badges some time ago.
I don’t know what my current count is.

I don’t have an issue with their droprate, however, I also don’t care much about them.

By the way, I think killing tower/keep/supply NPC’s also give badges.
Not entirely sure so if anyone can confirm, that would be great.

I’d love to know how to get 30 badges in a night. Seems no matter what I do, I get maybe one an hour. :/

They do give badges but you have to get so much damage output it seems and so you have to beat out the other 30+ or so people there doing damage.

Now this is a scenario for example. lets say we going for a keep or whatever and you have the guys breaking down the gate. Well commanders usually ask for people to keep watch and such so we spread out away from the the main group to keep watch. So gate goes down, they rush in and we finally follow in. Sometimes before I even get up there I dont even make it up there for the green circle because it is done so fast.

Now because of that I dont support my team that way anymore and hope that someone else is keeping watch because I want to be first thru the gate to hopefully land as much damage as possible on the lords and hope I land enough to get badges which is like 1 in 20 maybe and is the way I have been getting the 2-4 badges when I do play.

Anyways I have tried everything to help get these badges flow quicker and listened to everyone about it and how they have 1000’s of them when I just don’t see them coming in at all and feels like the worst grind ever.

Wish I leveled my thief first :P

I had the same problem as you when i started doing WvW. i was still on my guardian back then and got almost no badges at all… After that i lvled a warrior and played him for a bit with a ranged spec, using bow+rifle. Interestingly enough that netted me more badges than anything i was able to do with my guardian. Then i leveled a range… at this present time i net over 150 badges a night… All you need to do is farm those badges with a ranged toon that has some nice AoE. Also try to be present at as many defenses or assaults on keeps and/or towers, because those tend to attract more people. The more people you damage and assist in killing the more loot you get and the more chances for badges you have. But still don’t forget that there is still the RNG in play

How about some suggestions? I am playing an ele.

I have sat back and defended areas and such and pretty much nuke on the defend and attacks with kills. I have over 500 kills in wvw and maybe clear 40-50 bags a night with maybe one badge if I am lucky and that is me solo killing some of those on the walls and still nothing.

Almost had the chest the other night from the tree with a group but we got ambushed by a zerg.

And if we where controlling map sure with mistwrought vaults being opened again now the puzzles per character if you do all 4 could give you roughly 20 badges per character but with how competitive it is on the server I play on ( jade quarry currently vs IOJ and SBI ) its hard to get those puzzles done even with small pacts of people and people are not going to zerg the puzzles lol.

That is wrong…

How is that wrong. That is exactly what is happening on that. If you dont get any damage done to them from my understanding amounting to a certain cap you have no chance at bags.

Yeah why I played the ele, Good aoe to hit multiple targets, i can push back invaders on their walls from attacking my guys trying to break in and defend pretty well.

I do get many loot bags from kills, Just doesnt seem to be any badges in them.

Just as a note too I notice that when you group with people as well more bags and chance of badges seems better.

Don’t know if that is how it is designed though but how it seems when I play.

Problem is when people are zerging they have the opinion you don’t need agroup.

in 10k kills I have about 2200 badges, so it’s about 1 in 5 for me. I’m pretty much always in a group.

I bought all of the epic jewelry with it, now it all goes to siege.

Meo Yeong is actually correct when it comes to an Elementalist.

A support staff elementalist that plays primarily in water and air does not do enough damage to receive loot. I have 1,627 kills and have 83 badges, it’s an issue that needs to be addressed.

For now, I’d recommend switching to daggers and damage.

There is a big unbalance in roles you play and badges you get. Damage dealing is key.

There are some ‘tricks’ to get them easier, but in the end, you end up with RNG.

1. Do 10-30% on as many targets as you can.
2. Group up, you seem to share some, making it easier.
3. Get finishing / killing blows.

I found that on my mesmer, bags (and thus badges) are dropping a lot less. It gets less bad when in decent groups, but it still shows.

On my thief, I get loads of badges. But that is mainly playing with a few good friends. Hit and run in open field to kill small groups. Then run into a keep under attack for some aoe damage dealing.

Arena.net really needs to rework the reward system to be more fair for the support types. It helps the team just as much as damage dealing, sometimes even more!

I agree about loot pickup its rough some times when you are in the middle of a battle. There has been times I myself have died with a bag of loot sitting next to me lol and like nooooooooooooooooooooooo. Probably bags on ground as well that didn’t even see while a huge raid in stonemist at lords or whatever and just so much aoe and stuff flying around graphically.

Be nice if the bags just ended up in your inventory. There is chance for getting back to a vendor with no issue if you get filled up let alone if you are following a commander he resets anyways at waypoint to change tactics or direction which gives time to clear bags time to time.

Bigger problem is that badges and karma doesn’t really give you anything useful after while. Wonder why W3 doesn’t give any bad kitten looking gear sets or something. PvE sets looks like crap. My ele should wear robe, not some silly bikinis.

After about 4 weeks or so, i finally reached level 80. Had about 90k Karma, didnt spent anytin and since then i´m beatin and getting beaten in Wv3 for about a month.

3600 Kills, 780 deaths, 1100 Badges of Honour and 410k Karma all this while “staying” semi-hardcore, of course i was at few Stonemist Concerts during the last month, but you got admit the Band simply rocks!

Seriously, you get enough BoH for a few legendaries and Wv3 is maybe the best place to farm for Karma and still have fun (Zerg, Roamer, Doylak, Sentries, “smaller zergs”, camp, defend towers/keeps etc..)

4h+ daily (depending the heavy action in Wv3), a month later you have enough Karma and Skill Points and BoH for many things.

never had problems with badge drop rate
i rarely had party on WvWvW , sometimes went with “the zerg”, as an guardian
i managed to purchase 3 weapons on badges, 2 armor parts and i got arround 200-300 more badges.
Drop rate is arround 20%. So in an keep defence or assault you can make over 10 badges in less then 10 minutes. You got poor Aoe ? use arrow cart /balista / catapult.
IF you will go solo / hunt supply camps in smal groups you will not get high ammount of badges. Go in zerg vs zerg / spam aoe and don’t Die

It rains loot playing staff ele vs any of my other classes. Big, hard hitting AoEs, that tag everything from range.

Normally I’d tell people to roll and ele alt (or man an arrow cart) if they had trouble tagging mobs.

Across my account it’s probably ~4k kills, ~750 badges, ~1k objectives captured.
