never done this myself, tho iirc it only takes about 8secs of consecutive stealth (or other forms of immunity) to sneak past the Defenders.

The real question is, could they get their crafting done?

And could they use the portals. I caught one inside our base attacked him and got him down to like 30% but then he vanished. Was near the portals though so i wonder if he ported using it…

Just fix it with some automatic revealed buff while inside enemy safe zone or what the hell.
But for some people it’s easier start to cry in the same way about the same class, is it true ArmaQQonAsh?

The class has had a broken stealth mechanic from release. The ONLY people that will defend a class with a mechanic that allows them to jump in and out of stealth every 3-4seconds are thieves.

As much as i would i dont like it, i think Stealth needs to be handled the same way it is in WoW, want to have stealth? Time to make it so they go SLOWER than normal speed, say 25% slower with a high costing trait to removal that. Then Once in combat Your stealth is very much limited, You have access to it but its of WHEN to use it and not a spammable mechanic

Then they should fix the classes Initiative cost, all they need to do is burst in force you to use cool downs stealth away, reset the fight and regain health and initiative and rinse and repeat, stealth has No risk to it what so ever. Sure you might get caught once in a while but when it is SO easy to reset a fight and have all your weapon skills ready to be spammed again while your target has cool downs it makes it very unbalanced.

I believe that he’s probably found a way in through jumping and used stealth to get past the legendary defenders. I don’t know how he did it, but it’s very difficult to succeed.

If you know how, it’s very easy to do actually… and not only on thief. The thing is only thieves can troll successfully there because enemies are “determined”. Not a big deal anyway, unless you really need your crafting npcs that much.

i invis’ed past the guards as a mesmer. i hit some sort of invisible wall that instantly ported me back outside the spawn. this is a bug.

Well the fact that they STILL havent fixed the stealth issues could have something to do with it, I dont mind them being able to stealth so much outside of combat but EVERY 4 seconds IN combat is simply to much and it is WAY to beneficial it can be used to attack and run it has NO sort of punishment/risk to it

Simply adding a “Cripple” Like effect while you are in Stealth and combat would go along way to stopping the stupid:

Attack, burst everything. Wait for the person to use cool downs to survive, stealth and reset fight, regain all health and some initiative and go again and it is pretty much rinse and repeat. No risk to that sort of gameplay. If they are losing? Simply stealth and run.

Terrible mechanic.

You know, because thieves can withstand a strong AOE even when they are in stealth. And they completely avoid all of your attacks in the area they stealthed in. Its like god mode or something.

Thieves are slightly OP and this is one of the reasons why….Anet will most likely never fix this. All you can do is what mrmadhaze did and become one yourself.

Assuming Stealth is the guilty party in this endeavor is your 1st mistake… 2.Recognize that some of us have played Dark Age of Camelot,Warhammer Online,& Star Wars: The Old Republic for almost a decade at this point and are stupid good at the classes/styles we play. GW2 is essentially SWToR 2.0. It’s not my place to speculate as to how one gets into spawn ,there are likely multiple ways, but i will say that there’s not much you can do in there…If you kill the NPC’s…they will be ressed…If you kill Players…they will likely be ressed..chalk it up to not afking in spawn & tying up the queue when there’s someone waiting to get into WvW. Stand next to a Legendary Defender if it bothers you or better yet, dont afk in WvW.
As far as all the talk of speed hacks and various other enhancements… I just don’t see it personally. Recall that some of us are very adept at the styles we play. A good thief can Long Range Steal, pop a few Heartseekers or a couple other skills & be well out of your visual range in 5 seconds give or take.
There are others concerns regarding what can be done legitimately within the scope of the engine and its features but again, It’s not my place to reveal/discuss/enlighten or further harm the engine & its integrity. Concerns will likely be addressed as they become more legitimate for the entire constituency. Look at it like this…If you have a Dam with a hole in it….You’re not going to worry about painting lines in Employee Parking. If a certain foe is running/fighting circles around you…try joining this person & playing upon their perspective egos and maybe…just maybe….they’ll help you to understand how it is they’re doing whatever it is they’re doing.
Don’t ask me though. The integrity of the engine is generally my first & foremost concern and I won’t be sharing anything with anyone that isn’t in a position to address these concerns. It’s just good business. gg gl

It is not exactly hard not to be good with a such a broken class. Sorry but you cant say “oh i am good at other classes from other games” it means nothing. The simple fact is – The stealth mechanic for Thief in this game is SERIOUSLY unbalanced it offers high reward and very little risk.

Sure you might get trampled by Zergs but everyone faces that possible fate. The fact that the class can AND does Stealth every 4 seconds in combat is a joke. I am fine for them having access to such a mechanic outside of combat but that must NOT carry into combat.

Like other games You should be penalized for being in combat and in stealth most games go the route of slower movement speed. I think this would be a fair change. Have them move 25% slower while in combat and in stealth. Remove the “Fleet Shadow” trait and replace it with one that Increases your speed in stealth back to normal so just a 25% increase.

Then they need to get around and fix all the buffs Thieves get for stealth, they have an obscene amount of it they should NOT get this much benefit from such a broken mechanic. They then need to accept and admit Initiative was a stupid idea and give Thieves PROPER weapon cool downs. Of course they would need to adjust some of the skills to compensate the fact they would no longer be able to just into stealth every 4 seconds but it should NEVER have been that sort of mechanic to begin with. While in combat it should be a “At right time” sort of deal not a yay spam stealth lol"

But… we’re talking about WvW, not sPVP. Thieves facerolling stragglers and roamers in WvW is not the same as doing so in sPVP. Right?

But… we’re talking about WvW, not sPVP. Thieves facerolling stragglers and roamers in WvW is not the same as doing so in sPVP. Right?

Then do the alternative. Level one to 80 and see how far you get face rolling. The sPVP or hot join will show you the same thing much quicker, it isn’t as easy to play a thief well as you would think. My builds are the exact same for sPvP and WvW and play them the same. Target the 1v1 or 1v2 and go and have fun.

Without being drawn into a tit for tat or quid pro quo debate allow me to simply state how little regard I hold for someone who clearly feels their opinion is correct & everyone else that doesn’t agree is wrong.
The stealth mechanics in Warhammer , SWToR , & GW2 are virtually the same conceptually…meaning…the architecture calls for an “Assassin” class/build. If you disagree with it, I’d suggest you pony up the 20-40+ million it’s going to require to design,code, & market a similar venture.
Watering down builds to the point you require 8 man spiking ala the original Guild Wars the last few years is not the answer.
The original purpose of the post has nothing to do with Stealth or Thieves…if your whole purpose here is to hijack every other post to opine your…imo…misguided approach to game design…Be glad I’m not moderating this forum.
