Need to PvE before claiming in WvW?
Afaik yes, you have to do a HoT pve content to get a GH.. You can invite your wvw buddies to help your scout-guild get one, but I fear the “crafting” of guild-upgrades will need pve-thingies..

Seriously, doing a little PvE wont hurt. I know there are people that brag about how they are 100% WvW and never set one foot in PvE… You dont have to help. Really, you dont. Remain in WvW if you wish. I’m sure there are plenty of members even in the most “hardcore” of guilds that are willing to relax their principles a little and do stuff with the guild in PvE as well. If its anything like guild missions, you only need 5-10 peeps anyway.
For even smaller scouting guilds, I recommend working together – join each others guilds, make a guild hall, then make the other guild hall. It will probably go much faster the second time around. Or the third. Well, assuming there is no member limitation on maintaining a guild hall.

And my point was also that you dont have to be part of getting a guild hall for your guild. No one is forcing individual players – even in a tiny 10 man guild maybe just half of them will help? If your guild leader understands why you dont want to step foot outside WvW, I am sure he wont care.
If I was that leader of a tiny and presumably friendly guild and wanted to claim objectives in WvW, I expect everyone in the guild to take one for the team and stomach PvE in order to help. If they say nope I’d be pretty miffed.
But maybe that’s just me.

So someone has to do it. Your working under an assumption that every guild will have someone that wants to do it. It is unfortunate that you work under assumption rather then actuality. That is your mistake in my opinion.

No, I am working under the assumption that people want to claim stuff in WvW. If they dont, then hey dont bother building a guild hall. Simple as that.

Hmm pve aside, i wonder if you can get around the issue of needing to buy HoT to be able to claim in wvw by having a HoT friend create a guild, claim a guild hall and then make you the leader and leave.

Like i said there isnt much of a problem for larger WvW guilds. I sure most of them will stomach it so they can get the arena anyway.
The problem for me is the smaller WvW guilds. The ones who currently run all our upgrades and scout our borders for enemys just now. Most of these guilds have 2-3 people in them.
It just seems stupid that these guilds will have to invite more people just to be able to claim stuff on our border.

It will literally take no time at all to fix a guild hall compared to the thousands upon thousands of hours one spend in WvW.
Its only going to be painfull for those that enjoy 1/10th of the game. There is a whole world out there – GW2 is beautifull, NPCs can be funny as hell when you randomly meet them and there is lots of loot to be had. I spend maybe 80% of my time in WvW and I still have 5 characters with world exploration.
I understand the argument, I just dont see the problem. I have little doubt that Anet have thought about smaller guilds too, it probably wont be that hard to do.

Thats not a valid solution, we also dont know what the costs of guild hall upkeep and its upgrades for guild buffs is. These costs may or may not be achievable only by large PvE guilds.
I would prefer a measure of eligibility for WvW upgrades to go of off someones WvW achievements, especially a well balanced measure of objective + kill achievements, so you don’t end up with troll accounts or EOTM PvE manders sabotaging your server.

While it wouldn’t be bad, the fact that you can accomplish everything you need in PvE without ever stepping foot into WvW is a little unfair. So the point is legitimate, if they are going to say they want players to play all aspects of the game then they need to practice this in all areas not just WvW.
having to Pve to progress in wvw doesn’t make sense at all but big guilds really do both. smaller guilds won’t be able to clear the halls as quick as well if at all.
I myself only wvw but plan on trying hot pve to see if it really is an improvement. Afterall i do love wvw but i hate being poor and since they don’t seem to be adjusting rewards any time soon(probably not at all) mind as well pve in hot. it seems anet is getting what they have been pushing for since game launch all to pve.

We are a guild of 3 guys . We love WWW.
With Guild halls , we will have to do guild missions.So why we have to do puzzle jump and things like this , when in this game we just love killing people on the battlefield !
Why can t we play as we want .. ??
HoT will include a solution for this for both guilds that are WvW, and PvP oriented that want to build and expand their Guild Halls and need the favor generated by guild missions. Same goes for guilds that have a mix of players interested in all three. More info down the road a bit on how this will work once we’ve got it a little more solid on our end.
Edited to add: Everyone will have to do the actual mission to capture the guild hall once per hall though no matter what. If your group online is too small, you’ll need to invite friends (or pay/beg/sing-songs-to-woo peeps in Lion’s Arch!) to come with you and help you claim the guild hall to own one. Or you could always grow your guild
Any indication on group size required for capture mission?

We’re still debating minimum size, you can see a lot of discussion down in the guild CDI thread that’s helping us inform some of those decisions.
And no – you don’t need people to be in your guild to help you capture it. Bring friendly guilds to help you out, ask nicely in Lion’s Arch, etc.

That is a question for Anet, not me. Do you think we would be having this argument if guild halls was done by doing WvW? Errr, no.
Also, the post above pretty much state that to make a guild hall you do a guild mission similar to existing open world missions. Meaning that if your server have 20 of those tiny 3 man roaming guilds that moan so much about having to do PvE, they can all do it at the same time to save some pain. Or they can take the help of 200+ man PvE/WvW guilds on the server that I am sure have at least 5% people that can help out the scouts.
It sounded like once claimed, the GH upgrades could be attained In wvw or pvp…..
