I’m not sure how the devs thought a +2500 hp buff was a good idea. This is the only WXP skill you can buy that gives a basic stat boost and it gives a whopping 10-20% health boost depending on your class and build. WXP skills should not give boosts to basic stats. A high rank player shouldn’t automatically have an advantage over a low ranked player simply because he’s played countless hours of WvW.

And think it is OK, you have to kill 5 guards. And it gets removed on death. Mostly you die a few times in WvW unless you run with a guild group.

It doesn’t get removed on death, it gets removed on downed. Misleading text on a permanent investment ftw. Either way, it does seem pretty strong. If it gets nerfed I demand a refund

Most PvP players wouldn’t want this. Most PvP players want an level playing field where they can use their experience to outplay an opponent, not use their superior stats to beat them. That said, I don’t know if it should be nerfed or not. The majority of players who play WvW are not hardcore PvP players so do we cater for hardcore PvP players or the majority who are casual MMO players?

Technically every skill you can buy gives you an advantage over a lower level person. Besides, I’m happy for anything that pulls points away from arrowcart mastery.

Everyone knows the skill is overpowered, especially those of you defending it. Why do you think every high rank player you see is already running around with 5 stacks of fortitude? The people say its ok are the the same people on winning servers who said orb buffs were a good idea. People always want to cling to the things that give them an edge, even they are obviously overpowered or poorly designed. Omnomberry pies with no internal CD? Skale venom? Cogs? They’re fine all fine too I guess.

I think people are just not nearly as concerned as you are. If you’re running a dmg spec that is less than 1 hit. While it does give an edge I agree and I won’t shed a single tear if its removed, the real issue is simply a lack of meaningful rewards that forces you to make the hard choice for point placement. As of now I choose to make an op AC more op or get the fortitude so I can survive 2 hits longer under its fire.

I think the reason people are not concerned is because they have been conditioned into farming this game and players who can benefit from this greatly are already counting how many levels they need to get it.

Makes me wonder what amateurs work in Anet’s balance team. They removed the easily avaible Norn food buffs that gave a whopping total of 6 to each stat, and now they add a mega-grinding ability that gives a 250 bonus to vitality?????

Every nerf to traits should result in a full refund to players so they can re-select the traits based on the new information. If I grind for 100+ levels just to get Applied Fortitude then I want a refund if they nerf it to +10 or +25.

I know that having 15k instead of 13k health on my thief would be rather helpful – so I’m putting all my points into that tree. If they nerf it I want a full refund so I can select my traits again.

Well, I’m of the opinion that WvW should have taken the same route sPvP did with gear. But the time consumed for ascended, most players already have one class fully equipped with ascended/exotics. But with new content, your starting from scratch so many months into the game and the time gating is too much. Its a dilemma, I will have this buff in the near future, but I don’t want to own players simply because I have this buff, but that’s what is going to happen. Do you have this buff now?

No, I don’t have it, and I agree with you in that wvw should copy sPvP in a few ways, but if/when they do so, or separate it from PvE asking for progression buffs to be removed just shouldn’t happen. As of lately I’ve seen a fairly large influx of new players, not counting the time it takes them to get to 80, it would take at least a month to go from exotics to ascended, ya sure its just a few stats, but really, in an actual wvw battle that extra health isn’t game breaking, its a slight advantage from a serious time sink. If wvw does go the way of sPvP then gladly remove those kind of buffs, but also remove the wvw traits and instead wxp gets you better skins or what not because next oh this guys played more wvw and was able to kill me when i attacked him at my camp, he only survived because 5% defense to guards, nerf please. If 2500 health is soooo game breaking to you, I think its more l2p, at worst that’s four attacks on someone built full bunker, on someone built glass that’s one maybe two.

Since when has PvP suppose to have become more casual friendly than PvE?

There is nothing wrong with applied fortitude at all (I’m about 35 ranks from getting this). What are people getting from siege mastery lines… like 30 % damage increases plus extras….Applied Fortitude is a better counter to this damage increase than siege bunker is.

You got to remember that it takes a lot of points to get this…I have no points in any other line and wont for a long time…and at the end of the day its going to be one extra hit to kill me.

Some players in WvW actually like to roam and fight other players in the field in relatively small battles, 1v1, 2v2, etc and this is where the buff is especially gamebreaking. I don’t care if 1/5 of the guys in a zerg blob have +2500 hp. I care if the glass thief I run into while roaming has +2500 hp. +2500 hp is gamebreaking in that type of scenario, which happens to be one of the most common scenarios to run into when you aren’t rolling with the zergball. I guess this is just another sign Anet wants everyone on WvW maps to roll in zergs.

It’s more impactful for small fights sure, might out right wreck them, but don’t downplay the ability of this buff to greatly effect zerg fights.

Once many people get enough ranks for a whole organized team to have this buff at once, its going to allow a whole group to build extremely burst heavy, relying on the buff for sustain and just roll over any other opposing zerg that is also not organized and toting the buff.

Hard to see how it doesn’t get toned down.

Was bad enough how Ascended was implemented, but at least the difference in stats was fairly minor all things considered. This is an all or nothing case of have and have nots once it gets common.

If people can think back to how fighting players with orb bonuses used to be, it totally imbalanced every fight in WvW, and this will be just the same equal to just shy of 2 orbs vs 0.

Yeah it will have a big impact in the case of organized WvW guilds facing militias. In the case of two zergs with a roughly equal number of high WvW rank players, it shouldn’t matter too much.

Why is it that Guard leaching, which costs the same as Applied fortitude, only works against guards whilst AF works for anyone? As in, if GL works only against guards, wouldn’t a more balanced approach be to give a player bonus armor against damage from guards (and not players)? Applied fortitude is so much better…

2.5k hp is a lot and if an entire guild raid has it, thats some OP stuff. I think it should be capped at 1k for the sake of balance.

Ideally Wranks would have been nothing like what Anet did with them. It should have just been something for vanity, like at X rank you get an epic glow around your character in a certain color, then at Y rank you get a different color, then at some very high rank you can use a special emote etc. There are plenty of cool vanity things they could have done aside from you know…. break the game (AC mastery, and even this somewhat). Anything strong enough worth taking will bring complaints, anything not worth complaining about is too weak to bother with, its a conundrum that cannot be solved which is why in PvP you award vanity not power…. but…. Anet.

Anet can’t win. If you do searching on the forums when the abilities where introduced many people asked for abilities that mattered (as in not related to siege etc) maybe they put AF in as a test ability so if people think its OP then they can change it back.

Point is when the abilities where announced people asked for abilities similar to AF. Forum balance team doesn’t know what it wants.

I roam in groups of 5 or less a lot so 2500 hp means a lot. Compared to the trade off of a fully upgraded super balista spread shot smacking you in the face 2500 hp is nothing.

What I am saying is its a 114 point trade off and if they reduce the reason to take 114 points into a line then I better be able to spend them elsewhere.

The argument that time shouldn’t = power is so long dead to Anet. If you ran a fractal or ground dailies for laurels then you’re just as guilty as the rest of us for helping Anet toss out its “manifesto.”

Play and to a degree, pay for power is here to stay. GW1 is dead. Long live GW2?
