Just like to thank the dev Stephen Clarke-Willson for going above and beyond to look into the lag issues in wvw on the holiday

40 some odd posts (at the time of this writing) in the past day or so keeping us updated about what is going on regarding the lag. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t shocked to have this kind of interaction.

Be careful though, Mr. Dev. You might set a precedent. Or at least raise our expectations.

The Employee of the Month competition is already over!

Nobody at Anet loves WvW like Grouch loved PvP. That’s what we need, a WvW Grouch, but taller.

Yep, he is doing a great service by sharing what is going on.

It is a shame he is often being rewarded with negatively aggressive comments from the occasional poster. And folks wonder why they would want to avoid posting in this subforum.

If they are going to talk about making a commitment to improve communications with players then they should show it through actions. I am happy to finally see some acknowledgement of the problem, and to finally know someone is trying to do something about it. I would really love to see anet more involved in the wvw community, especially through forums, if certain posters make them feel unwelcome well hey, so the heck what? Its their game and its their responsibility to foster communication and take care of the playerbase, are there never any toxic, demeaning, nonconstructive, or angry posts in other forums? WvW is not the sole exception, and anets long silence on many issues important to the wvw communuty has done nothing more then create a schism between themselves and the wvw community.

I truly want to thank Mr. ClarkeWillson for his involvement in this important issue and hopefully we can get it resolved soon because its a huge problem affecting many players. And I hope over time anet will change their minds and start being more active here.

The transparency is refreshing for sure, so much so that it even made me wonder do Anet really know this guy is telling us all this info? its kinda out of character really, but its a very welcome change.
Anyway, keep up the good work Stephen, some of us have been praying for a cure to skill lag for many years, playing through it because of a sheer love of the game and of WvW, forever living in hope that one day large battles will play perfectly, maybe, just maybe, that day is drawing near.

That’s vastly incorrect. There has been more support and encouragement for this Dev than I’ve ever seen on the WvW forums. The posts that I see that are overly negative have been met with swift defense from other WvWers.

That being said, I want to say thank you to Stephen. The amount of solid communication you’ve shown in just these past few days has been what I’ve been yearning to see on the WvW section for quite literally years. ^u^

I know right lol I’m kinda worried he’s going to be silenced as soon as the other devs find out how straightforward he’s being with us xD

I think you misunderstand. MANY post have been deleted. But in my opinion, quit likely, not before he saw them.

It is kind of like the old analogy. If you walk pas the same homeless man on your way to work every single day. And every single day, you give that man a dollar. It is likely he will always think positively of you. Then, one fine day you walk past the man, rear back, and kick him in the groin as hard as you can. Although you have been positive to this man for 1000 days, and only negative once, that single negative action will have a infinitely greater impact then all of the positive ones.

You seem to be overlooking a simple fact in your analogy. Arena Net is business. Their interactions with the public need to be handled in a business-like manner. Regardless if their clients are “positive” towards them or not.

It would be comparable to you always treating the cashier well then one day going in and after a bad day biting their head off for whatever reason. You think that from that point forward that employee or the entire store has any right to treat you any less well than they did in the past? Of course you don’t, nor would you accept them doing so.

They are not cashiers. That is not a reasonable comparison as I see it.

You seem to correlate not posting g with a lack of professionalism. That doesn’t make it true. It seems to me, that is you get a portion of the community that replies to any post with such negativity, that it is extremely professional to avoid doing whatever causes the irrational negativity.

Personally, I find it interesting that so many posters shift the blame so readily. I see more logic in publicly condemning the irrationally negativity itself. Rather then condemning those who avoid the negativity.

Point of case:

Dev joins thread recently. Makes an effort to solve problems and share the process with us.

Posters make post negatively criticizing their level of professionalism, in a completely off topic manner, in a thread created to show appreciation.

Although I am happy someone finally is looking into it, in my opinion lowering the cap is not the solution. When the new bl comes out and is laggy with the new dynamics in it, they will lower cap again?
