Yes new WvW maps are absolutely needed, or any sort of improvement towards WvW gameplay. It’s been so neglected by Anet it’s unbelievable.

They said it takes them a year to make a single WvW map, which I don’t believe is true otherwise this game would have taken 25 years to make considering all the areas it contain. I just think they’ve stopped development of WvW.

ANet cares more about spvp? Lol grass is always greener I guess.. what has spvp gotten besides small QoL updates? We’ve had more maps removed than added in the only serious tpvp mode we have and even that is still a joke. Sure those maps were atrocious, but still.

Skyhammer is a slap and spit in the face to any half serious pvper, be happy ANet didn’t touch your WvW and screw things up like that… oh wait EoTM lol WvW is dead/dying much like the rest of the game besides some pve farmers. It is, in fact, completely dead on my server Kaineng.

Balanced is borked in all sides of the game and EVERYTHING is severely lacking.

What WvW needs is more maps, more mechanics, and the death of megaservers. The first two for obvious reasons and the last because WvW thrives on server identity and server pride, which megaservers have crushed. Unlike before, you can’t go into a map anymore and say “Hey, isn’t [my server] the best?” And get a bunch of people saying, “By Grenth’s frozen underpants, yeah we are!”

As far as new content… A friend of mine and I had a discussion over the summer about what type of thing would be cool to see in WvW. So, we came up with a rough idea of a brand new map with fresh new mechanics. It was cool.

I do a lot of WvW (I have 2129 world ability points) and I personally don’t think we need any more maps. If anything, it would be nice to see the normal WvW maps get a lick of paint (I.E. improve the looks of Eternal Battlegrounds and the 3 borderlands) and give them a few improvements – such as adding in features from EOTM (wurm tunnels/reactors etc.). I think if we add more maps, the normal WvW maps will become even more empty than they already are.

I remember Anet saying EOTM was just supposed to be something to do while waiting to enter WvW, but look at how much more popular it is – it’s also taken a large portion of players away from the WvW borderlands (as you would expect by adding more maps), and there’s good reason for why EOTM is more popular:

Better rewards (more badges, more karma, more events, more players, more loot bags)

Better scenery and opportunities (I mean c’mon, the place looks epic and there’s plenty of opportunities to fear people off the edge, pull people off the edge, blow up bridges, blast an entire zerg off a bridge with the super cannon etc. – this is FUN and to be fair, we don’t see a lot of this in the normal borderlands).

Scorpions blowing up walls – everyone loves portable siege, but this takes it to another level. And sure, we have golems, but they don’t have a teleport skill OR a stealth skill. Could scorps be improved on? Certainly.

It would also be nice to see a lot more variety of world abilities in EOTM – Turret Defence, Scorp Mastery (the first rank being a speed improvement – because they’re so slow, people don’t usually bother with them any more), Super cannon defence, for example.

We also need something to use our badges of honor on. I have 45k badges right now (and a few months back I spent another 45k badges), and I can’t get rid of them fast enough (though to be fair, EOTM and the Living Story is basically all I do in GW2).

There’s hardly anything good to spend them on, like armor skins (and I’m sorry but the ones we have for WvW don’t count because they are pretty cruddy, and cost next to nothing – there’s a good reason no one wears them) or weapon skins (mists weapons don’t count also because it’s only temporary content and the amount of tickets you receive to buy them with are based on which server you just happened to be aligned with at the time – never mind how hard you played during the tournament or how much effort you put in).

^^^ note here when I say ‘temporary content’, I mean that if you want one of the mists weapon skins, you have to be on a very good server at the time of participating in the tournament – and if you don’t have enough tickets to buy a skin? You have to wait until the next tournament, whenever that may be – that isn’t cool. It would be like taking away all the dungeon reward vendors (for all you dungeoneers out there) or the sPvP reward track (for all you sPvP’ers), and then bringing it back every few months. Though at least you could earn dungeon tokens and whatnot despite the lack of a reward vendor. We have to WAIT to participate in the tournament, and then when it does arrive, HOPE our server does well enough to get us 1 skin (if that). This is what I mean by temporary

tl;dr

What I’d like to see is:

WvW borderlands, Eternal Battlegrounds, and EOTM incorporating aspects of each other to make things more fun (wurm tunnels for wvw borderlands and eternal battlegrounds, for example)

Better Rewards for our badges of honor – like unique skins (look at the branded humans and charr – their armor would be AMAZING as WvW/EOTM skin rewards – I shall include a few pics below). And things like ascended armor and weapon chests – these could cost 40 gold + 40,000 badges + 10 laurels each. That way it doesn’t ruin crafting (cause you’re still having to pay gold, laurels, and badges = time and effort), rather, it would give more ways people can obtain ascended gear.

A continuous reward track for our efforts (like the ones sPvP have)

If those were to be implemented, I would be a happy camper

WvW needs reworking, and I am not opposed to radical map redesign, but please let us not have ANYMORE WvW maps added! There is already too much dilution of the players across ridiculously larges map instances PLUS whatever the hell EotM is supposed to be!(EotM is great for XP, Karma, Badges and loot though)

ANet, please copy paste the Frontiers from DAoC into the Mists, kk thanks. Three realms, one map joined at the center.

One gigantic map with all maps combined – that would be EPIC. Love the idea! It reminds me of the underworld from GW1 and how big and epic that was…

As long as EOTM mechanics are included I’d be happy – like opportunities to fear, pull, blast people off edges etc, and have some parts of the map using yaks, whilst other parts use reactors? And we definitely need wurm tunnels and portable siege. Perhaps scrap scorps, and instead, add new portable siege like siege turtles for badlands, and juggernauts for overgrowth, (like GW1 and the factions), and giant kodans for frostreach or something.

New maps are needed badly, this borderland and eternal maps are old like hell end everyone have enough of them. I dont want add more maps to match up, just create new ones and rotate them with old ones every month.

Well a long long time ago, when everyone was nice to mods and devs, we were told it takes 6 months to make and test a map.

A year goes by, people become not so nice, keep demanding updates for WvW including new maps. They now claim it takes a lot longer than 6 months to make and test maps.

Just a month or so ago, when we had all those interview uploaded to youtube, Devon himself confirms it took them 8 months, from scratch to finish to make and test and release the EOTM map. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyWxsJU4InM&t=17m18s]

This yet again shows they are just brushing our concerns aside, making up excuses as to why they wont work on anything.
Even if it really takes a whole year, we should have 2 new WvW maps by now; we dont!

Definitely need – or should I say – needed new maps. They should’ve released new maps to put in the rotation every 6 – 9 months. It would have helped retain people to play WvW.

What game developers never seem to get about pvp is that they are not creating the content which brings players back again and again, the players create the content as every interaction is unique. Whoever designed the football pitch did not layout how every game would be played.

Keep it simple and encourage fights and strategy dont make a maze like eotm.

blob fighting is quite unique to gw2 so dont discourage it encourage it.
