Guild Wars 2

Hi.I’m coming back to the game after a long break and i want to start a new toon.I would like some advice as to what classes are best for wvw, roaming in particular.I know about the upcoming balance changes but i do not know the game well enough to tell where are they going with the classes.
I would like a class that does better than most in 1v1 scenarios since i plan on roaming and playing solo most of the time.

warrior, or thief,

both have extreme mobility (thief being faster if you have the correct setup) and both have strong burst dmg, with warrior having more consistent dmg since he doesnt have to stealth to gain iniative in my opinion, but stealth will save you 100%, you only die when you want to die, and when you mess up.

Warriors have more toughness, more vitality, and healing signet is OP, so your regen is good enough that you don’t even have to heal 80% of the time.

don’t go thief. They used to be one of the top roaming classes but after bad players kept QQ’ing about them Anet kept on nerfing them.

I’d go with either warrior, engineer, or necromancer (best 1v1 class but dies easier in 2v2-5v5)

But a good first class if you don’t have a main yet is definitely warrior, they can do EVERYTHING and are the best at it.

Best damage? Check.
Highest Health Pool? Check.
Highest Armor type? Check.
Most viable build types? Check.

the list continues… but you get my point, warriors can spec for roaming and zerging and be the best at both.

well a good engineer can beat a warr, but skill cap is higher and will almost always lose to a good necro. Necromancer shouldn’t be considered because lack of mobility, its true its probably the top 2 1v1 classes but your lack of mobility and stabilty will be the reason you die 99% of the time if you do group fights, also good groups know to target necro’s first as well as engineers because of their lack of stability, and most builds only have one stun breaker.

But engineer is a great roaming class, but i just don’t suggest it to new players because, it takes a while to get good at it, and be prepared to die ALOT to thieves in 1v1.

Well Thief is the premier roaming class due to stealth and high mobility, but also try Warrior as they are very strong right now and good mobility. Mesmer and Engis are also pretty good.

Best roaming class for starters is thief due to having highest handicap in the game.

Then comes the engineer once you spend time around a bit. They will be the next OP class. You just need a bit more practice with engineers and not everyone does the right build/uses right abilities.

Both these classes have good mobility which is what you need in zergy zones.

Warriors will drop due to upcoming nerfs.

while not the best SOLO roaming class, a valkyrie LB/GS ranger specced for Eagle Eye is a lot of fun to play as flanking kitey roamer. you can run away from just about everything, and nuke people for 3.5k autoattack from 1500+ range. you can spike other glass cannons very effectively. this build will even be buffed with the next patch.
