New map no WvW feel
maps in rotation would not be nice to see, altouth what this new map needs is players a few more mechanics to make players fight open field.
yeah i beta tested it and feedback was exactly this for months now. its too large, too complex and not a real wvw map. it should have been a new eotm map and not replace the old maps. simple is more in wvw. ill eb only i guess…

1. Design with minimal/no consultation.
2. Build a map they think we want (which probably costs their company a 6 figure sum).
3. Ask for feedback when they’re already deeply committed with the amount of money they’ve spent coding/building it.
4. Hands are tied because the money is already spent.
If they were to implement your feedback (shrink the map) they’d be up for another 6 figure sum.
They need to do more customer centric design with early iterative feedback.
All it needs to “feel” like WvW is more people in it…
Anet probably expected an increase in WvW population with HoT but they got the opposite because everyone is playing PvE.
They need to either remove the 2 extra copies of the map per tier or merge servers to increase the tiers population.

true, but they should have listened in this forums a bit more before committing to a map design…
1. id say 90% of the players kepts saying less pve when anet started putting pve events from halloween and toxic stuff and all that into our wvw. we also been saying for years that none goes to the centaur camp or the skritt cause its pve and not important.
2. we said we wanted better keeps that u cant exploit as much as u could the old ones with theives gate tagging etc, but after the eotm feedbacks, they should have known that too complex keeps arent the answer.
3. we had a ton of constructive feedback threads after eotm about what a new wvw map should be like. not a single one of them mentioned a meta map even with a giant laser, ai traps, very complex asurastyle keeps or less waypoints. none wanted narrow passages that are like jumping puzzles are shrines. we nevere asked for pve events like shrines.
so before cluttering a wvw map which is a game mode where the players used to make the rules by smart siege placing, ninja actions, intercepting dolyaks so keeps couldnt upgrade, mesmers hiding and mesmer searches.. etc, anet should have actually played wvw from the beginning of gw2 to get the feel for the game mode.
the people that designed the new area dont seem to understand the game mode very well.

I haven’t yet played the new wvw maps, and you know why??, because i’m in pve trying the new content and hunting down hero points for my herald, and i suspect that is what many dedicated wvwers are doing now, heck, i am on piken square and the guildies at “stomp for piken” (which is like a communal guild for PS’s commanders and wvwers to meet) are doing the new pve zones.
Just wait a week or two till everybody’s got an elite spec and some masteries, and then wvw will start filling up again.
most of the people who really would like to play this new map already left the game like 3-2,5 years ago. and ppl who dont want to use their brain when going into wvw and just want to blindly smash enemy zergs ..they remained. well u got ur guildhalls if u want ‘open’ fights to just smash ur heads.
anet is not destroing wvw they just want u to play it how it was desgined , people didnt care for ppt n if they win the week so anet gives us a map on wich u have to fight more strategic to hold it and dont mindlessly blob ur enemy away. oh well most ppl still wont care for tick n if they win the week as the coverage and population of the servers is far from balanced.
PS: once ppl realize that map is not designed for pure blobbing u will be able to roam /smalscale there very well
I came back recently — had forgotten how great the game was. But the new WvW map. . . ugh. I agree with the “too big” and “too much PvE” sentiments entirely.
what does ‘feel like wvw’ even mean? sure feels like wvw’ when me and the guild roll out to cap towers and stomp thieves.
currently a Boyfriend main :P
