What would be the most suggested WvW class for someone who loves long range damage dealers?

Does anyone have any example vids they can show off? :o

War is always the answer,

Long range. Engi, Ele, Necro, and Ranger. Are you looking for one that’s better in large group or small group and roaming?

Warrior is currently God mode in both PvE and PvP.

Warrior. They are getting buffed next patch too.

Engineer… Just cause

Longbow warrior, ele, and necro are all viable for ranged fighting.

Rangers are good in small groups, but are not in big fights.

Literally does it all and is the best at it too. Oh..and Anet keeps buffing them

If you like caster – Ele * Necro – Ele has farthest distance & AoE radius with ground targeting, necro comes close second, but i can take out siege without LoS on Ele way faster than on my necro

If you like to go pew pew – Ranger or Warrior

If you want to be a bomberman tossing grenades and leaving trails of bombs – go engi

Longbow warrior is boring as hell.

you cant go wrong with a warrior they can do everything.

I’d say go necro- great flavor, very strong, versatile.

Im curious are mesmers any good at pewpewing stuff in wvw?

I don’t know if this has any implications but ive heard alot of hate about elementis not being so good in the pvp department and being sucked into “healing” or some kitten?

I know nothing so i pretty much have to go by word of mouth.

ATM i have a lvl15ish mesmer. lvl9 ele. and a 8 engineer. I tried necro and it just seemed so visually boring i couldn’t play a class like that.

As much as i would like to be a ele im very reserved since i keep hearing alot of hate every time i look up stuff about them.

if you do not have a lvl 80 yet: do not worry about the forums too much in the beginning, just go with the class you like to lvl with most.
People do like complaining on forums very much
If you like to play an ele just play one and see how it is for you.
It is versatile class and much asked for in WvW. It does require good positioning there and to know what button to press..but which class doesn’t ?
(do not know so much about spvp though) but spvp you can try instant without needing any leveling. just go to PvP and try.
Everything will be lvl 80 there and you can see for yourself and see all your skills and try them and decide what you like. (For beginners there are training bots and training NPC classes to try out some builds)

Both Ele and Mesmer are fantastic in WvW, especially if you want a ranged class (which you said you did).

The only thing about Ele is that their best damage is actually melee/midrange. Their long range set is best for group play, as it is too weak damage wise to play solo.

And ignore the morons saying “Warrior” in this thread, as they clearly have no idea how to play. If you want a ranged damage class and level a warrior to 80 for that purpose then you’re going to get pretty frustrated trying to beat Mesmers with your “Longbow Ranged Damage Warrior”.

The hardest class to master in an ele in WvW. But it has short,medium and long range

The easiest class to play is the Warrior. It is, without a doubt, a class above all else. Think of it as easymode.

Rangers need skill

Engies are easy to play and will be best at this long range scenario

Sadly, boring Warrior.

However, if you want fun, not loot, I’ve found Mesmer to be the most entertaining.
It works as a solo class and is effective in a big fight if you stay around the edges.

Ele is also fun, especially the d/d version but it’s a bit short on range and that spoils it. The staff ele is too slow & clumsy by half.

Both Mesmer and Ele are looked on as ‘utility tools’ by most commanders. Mesmer for veil/portal, Ele for healing/buffing fields.
But that only happens if you LET them. I usually just ignore demands for this or that unless it suits me (or it’s a REALLY good Commander)

Just play what you enjoy, right now my Necro and Ranger is most fun since by full zerker necro is freaking awesome with Wells and my ranger with his longbow is fun in zerg vs zerg.

i guess my question would be… do people actually willingly walk into aoe’s in this game rather than avoid them?

Flight time makes this pointless in roaming at that range and OK in zerg.
