Guild Wars 2

Hello Everyone,

I have played GW2 for about 3 months now, I switched from 8 years of WoW and I am really loving the WvW pvp in this game. My first character after buying the expansion was a revenant because I loved the idea of a magic using melee shredder and I love it.

The only problem is, I find myself using the hammer more than anything else because I like backline dps, I think I want to roll a profession that excels in doing damage from the backline and has utility for teamplay but I don’t know enough about the game to choose.

Help a newbie pick their new profession?

Necro/Reaper – Mid/Backline – Can never have to many necro’s
Ele/Tempest – Front/Mid/Backline – Can never have to many
Rev – You already know

Mesmer/Chrono – This can work but it’s not as popular, usually anymore then 2 is not really needed in organized play so you run the risk of losing a spot to one of the 3 above.

Stick with hammer rev, destroy everything.

I have used it in zerging and it works, if you are mindful of being caught out of position. Go crazy and have fun!

Other strong DPS backline, with utility and suport could be Elementalist with staff…. lots of damage and CC + water fields to support your melee train.

Also, like revenants, Elementalist can be played in frontline with different weapon set and stats (auramancer builds).

Dragonhunters can do backline damage with the bow, but not as efficient as Rev or Ele.
