July 19th would be a huge snooze fest because SoR would be ticking away at 500+ most of the time and would be up by 200k+ by the end of the week against those servers. All three servers in that matchup will not be having an optimal play experience.
August 2nd might actually be a nice match between bg/tc/sor
Way too much fluctuation for Tier 1.
As a BG, I don’t really recall fighting anyone other than SoR and JQ except for the week we had DB join our little clash
Edit – Oh, nevermind. Missed the point that it was manual match-making

Eh I am on FA and our problem seems to be that whenever we are faced with the worlds directly above us (TC and DB) we get our kitten handed to us but when we face the lower worlds it is just a farm fest.
one of the problems with manual matchmaking is the posts that we will see like this:
“omg the person at anet making these matchups must play on <hated-rival-server> because <hated-rival-server> keeps getting good matches while <my-server> keeps getting terrible matchups. the one week <my-server> got a good match and <hated-rival-server> got a bad match was the week <major-pve-content> was released. please anet pick somebody unbiased to make matches, the person you have now is obviously biased towards <hated-rival-server>.”
the players are endlessly inventive in finding things to complain about.

Based off the last time BG/SoR/JQ got separated SoR smashed “teir 2” and over all BG/SoR are fairly equal in power so we could assume BG would do the same. As for JQ I’m not sure, I’m confident they would win because JQ can be a beast when they want to but over all would be the fairest server to move down to “teir 2”
As for “tier 1” BG/SoR (As much as I’m tiered of them) shouldn’t be split up, they are the best competition for each other. That leaves TC/DB/FA to move up and from what I see TC would be the best option BUT TC/JQ would probably be a good match.
IMO BG/SoR/JQ is the best match tier 1 (or the top 3) could have. It would be hard for any server to truly take a spot in the top 3. No offence to lower servers, its not your players or skill, its your coverage.

It seems better than what the RNG monster is spitting out at us. While I like the proposed matchups for my server (SoS); the end result of this rotation would be SoS going down so far in rating that we’d be back in T4 or lower by the end of this.
The servers in current T5 territory would be screaming all over the forums about having to fight our night crew (justified).

Create 4 server match-ups, add TC to Tier 1, then reduce map sizes to 60 players. Whole never WvW we’d be looking at.
BG/SoR/TC will be a fun one whenever it occurs, I like their swagger, I bet their NA could easily match Swaggate and Sanctum of Rall.
Note sure about their “off” hours though, but they definitely could “play within their means” during NA timezone.

The July 26th match-up of TC/DB/EB is happening now. You can go to the match-up forum to see how much everyone is enjoying this week.
“Did you see that? Tell me you saw that!”
GoM would love all of these matchups, just sayin
Arenanet should be parsing more data:
e.g.
- Has a large, very active WvW guild moved server… where from, where to? Change weighting factors accordingly.
Yes I can see there will be people throwing accusations at Anet for playing favoritism – but its not like people don’t endlessly complain about the matches now. Plus, Devon seems to have thick skin. And it would be a team of people making the matches – not just one person of course.
I did mention that it was harder to do than I thought because you have to give someone a bad match. And SoR is going to have to have a bad match sometime. I don’t think TC should be put up into “Tier 1” matches every other week – that was just for illustration purposes.
I mean look at the past few weeks of matches, TC has been dominating their opponents (most of the time it included SoS). They deserve a chance to see what they can do against SoR and BG and JQ. If they get facerolled, so be it.
Another point to make about 3 way matches is that it makes a difference what the “third” server is. What I mean is that when SoR, TC, and SoS were matched together, SoR dominated. That’s because SoS couldn’t provide a third competitive level of opposition. This is an example of a match that never should happen. Now as many agree, if that 3rd server had been BG, it would have been totally different. A person would be infinitely better at analyzing this aspect than a computer.
I also forgot to mention that a manual matchmaking system would be even better for the EU servers. Their matches are all kind of messed up.
So lets see what tonights rematch gives us. (Someone should make up the EU bracket and compare it to what the current RNG system comes up with – but don’t just put them into the old – “Tiers”)

Thanks to CD putting up a great fight this week, SoS could theoretically face DH this week.
Don’t take that to mean that I’m hoping for that, I’m actually burning for SoS,EB, Mag.
However it’s worth pointing out that the rating difference between SoS and DH is just one point different than SBI and SoS; and that is reason #452 this system needs parental supervision.
