Night Capping
this is a big problem in EU at least and VS is unbeatable for this sole reason. any reset, free transfers will not help in this matter.
However, Anet doesnt seem to acknowledge the problem, like they didn’t for many things and turned out to be wrong.
The problem with WvW is it’s a 24/7 battle. Unfortunately, that means night capping is bound to happen. While it does suck when it happens to the server you’re on, it wouldn’t be fair if people couldn’t WvW over night. Personally, I work a night shift so 3-7 am EST is my personal prime time. It doesn’t bother me much unless there is absolutely no competition during that time, which most servers have at least a small night crew. While allying with a European server may seem like an ideal situation, it would only add long queues for the majority of each day since most servers are at very high or high population.

When you flipp tower/keep during the night, it’s so easy to attack it few hours later or in prime time, cause upgrading it again to T3 take a while.
If you have night crew it’s obvious that you don’t loose T3 stuff, making it much harder to get during prime time.
What I mean is.. without night crew, prime time looks alot different. So please stop braging here that you are leading in potential points during the day.
Several guilds left SFR before the deadline for moving, including the main night defence guild. So now VS build a huge lead overnight, and less people are inclined to try and claw back the points during prime time when the servers were evenly matched until the recent defections. SFR is trying to reorganise without some major guilds and it’s not so easy when the pugs speak 10 different languages.

Maybe they can make World vs. World only accessible during certain times depending on whether the server is a US server or EU server but now that ArenaNet has already established no more free world transfers it will be impossible to follow this plan out unless they make exceptions.

On high pop servers that would make queues absolutely unbearable. On some there are already long queues as it is now.
Doubt nightcapping will be touched, but it would be pretty hilarious to see for example something along the lines of making points worth only third of normal from 1 am cet to 1 pm at weekdays.
Reactions from the pvd crowd would be priceless for sure

So during which time zone would NZ, Au, Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc be forced to play in?
How about US shift workers who don’t work the standard 9-5 job? How about people who work night jobs?

For what it’s worth, there’s an easy fix to this if anyone is interested:
Just use resource weighting to adjust the PPT. At any given time the highest population is considered to be 100% value.
Server A has 100 people, server B has 25 and server C has 35:
Anything held by servers B & C are worth full point values (100%)
Anything held by server A is worth an average of server B and C resource weight (30%, I used round numbers to make the example easy to follow).
So if server B owns a tower they get 10 ppt for it. If server A owns a tower they get 3 ppt for it. Since server A has so many more resources available they should be able to hold more land than the other two without the match being a complete waste of time for the outmanned servers. This formula is obviously dynamic and would adjust itself throughout the course of the match. Night capping wouldn’t be much of an issue even in lopsided matches because the point values would be diminished if there were no opponents around to defend.

Nah, it’s a bit more complicated than that. The proper time weighting would eliminate obvious spikes or drops in resources. It would be more of a curve that flows up and down throughout the course of the day. Changing the trajectory with a flurry of activity over the course of a few minutes wouldn’t really have an impact.

Yah i hate night capping to when i go to sleep all the NA guilds take all my stuff back i think something needs to be done about it.
The term ‘night capping’ is redundant in this game it is a 24/7 game it has no day or night please stop Calling it night capping it is a slap in the face for all Non NA time zones

Would depend on how many defenders are in the zone, not in the keep. If there are truly no defenders in the zone (for either of the other two servers) then the conquering server would get very minimal ticks. If they are actually playing against no opponents then taking a keep isn’t really much of an accomplishment and is thus worth less than taking a keep that was defended and subsequently defending vs counterattacks.
However, once the other servers start to show up in WvW, the conquering server still holds the keep and it starts to tick for more as more enemies show up. Basically the offpeak conquerors could still “set the table” for their primetime counterparts.
