Night capping..Constant Outnumbered..
It’s like that any server you go onto. You get your Australian and Oceanic players on starting roughly 7am EST. Your NA players usually don’t start until around reset.
AU/SEA leave for bed. Then it can be dead for a while, until the NA players get on.
Then when the NA players leave for bed, it can be a while until the AU/SEA players come on.
Welcome to the cycle. It likely won’t change.
The only time it may be different is with T1 servers, as they have massive amounts of people.
Oh, and it’s 500 gems to transfer; or one free switch for some players.

There is no T1 server able to keep up with Desolation in terms of coverage, it’s the fotm server of the moment..they win every week…and people keep leaving from other servers..kind of a vicious cycle
It will always be that way. People want to win, and from my knowledge, the EU servers are vastly more competitive than the NA servers.
The only halt it could have is if Anet locks the servers before implementing a tournament. This would prevent massive stacking on T1 servers.
There’s hardcore, competitive players. Just a fact of gaming.
You have a point saying that people want to win..but what about the fun factor?
To guarantee a fun environment for winners and losers, Anet should introduce a reward system that incentivize massive battles…and no “cheap 3 a.m player versus door”.
WvW should be about battles, victories and defeats..this cheap nightcapping should be removed or vastly discouraged.
Anet needs to realize that the majority of players are pure casuals, they join wvw, they see their server being completely overrun..they leave
One man’s night capping is another man’s prime time. Get over it.
When you say “..this cheap nightcapping should be removed or vastly discouraged.”, do you mean my capping in your night time or your capping in my night time? Because if you wanna remove yourself from the game, that’s fine by me.
…
I don’t cap any tower during nights…..because it’s a handful of players vs stacked server with 2-3 night guilds..bought from NA or similar
Oh, so you are just whining that you don’t have as much coverage? Got it.
So if you login and there are no players on the opposing side, you just log out? Is that what you expect those on the other side to do?
We’ve had this sort of “debate” so many times with no resolution because no-one has been able to define “night” in an objective way. Usually the original poster uses “night” to mean a time when they are not playing – and to claim that a 24/7 game should be limited to one player’s preferred play time is going against the very basis of a world wide MMO like GW2.
There are time driven population imbalances (an ugly phrase but accurate) that affect all aspects of GW2, and especially WvW. However there will always be more players on at some time in the match than at another time, so we have to either live with it and play on, or stop playing – that’s a personal choice we each make. I understand the pain of being outnumbered and being stomped for what seems like forever – my server experienced this for many months, but there is no benefit to flaming each other and it doesn’t even help resolve anything.
Anet are doing what they can to address the time dependant population issues in what they see as a fair way – that was the point of being able to link servers together to even out the total population coverage for each combination.
Ultimately though, it’s the players who have the ability to resolve time based population differences, and I have yet to see off peak players inspired to join and help a server after being kittened at in the forums…
My play time always getting out numbered, and my server has won matches for 1 month straight, why would i get upset about night capping? My only concern was i cant find similar play time wvw guild in my server, and i am glad thu the current linking, i found one and nothing is gonna stop me from transfer.
Please stop posting if you can not be civil.

I hope you are not putting the entire blame on Desolation. I mean I stopped recruiting players to Desolation well over 1 year ago and I don’t know anybody else who has been actively recruiting large numbers to our server.
Desolation Night Crew [ROCK] isn’t on every single night, but when it is on, it makes a big difference in points. Desolation has also pretty good morning and day time coverage compared to most other top servers, who generally have some major weak hours, when they lose a lot of points and objectives. We only lack players in prime time compared to other top servers. Desolation can at best fill 1 map, not 2 like some opposing servers.
And yes, we have been target of band wagors as EU #1 server for soem time. Of course all this comes with a cost: the average level of the players has clearly dropped. I often see relatively inexperienced players, with less than few hundred WXP ranks population the commander squad. Some commanders, who tag up quite often have less than 1000 rank (compared to e.g. some more seasoned commanders who generally have 2k-5k ranks). Luckily for us the average level of all top servers has been going down, so we can still keep up the lead in kills-per-deaths (KDR) ratio in our match ups.
Actually the whole PpT game boils big part to couple of highly dedicated commanders and few off peak time guilds. Desolation already lost [NUKE] guild to Piken several months ago and they are point wise probably the most important guild for Piken, giving them the needed off time, late night/early morning coverage. I know Piken is dropping in points, so I don’t know what happened to them. Gandara, SFR and FSP also have several ex Desolation players, so it is not just Desolation got bandwagoned…
Sometimes I cannot help to get the feeling that several opposing servers do have the numbers and have relatively high ratio of players who really play for points, but still they intentionally throw down match ups not to face Desolation again and again. So I can very well feel the frustration to fight against us. Desolation might lack big WvWvW guilds, but at least we got enough active commanders to make the PuG armies work.
Oh thanks for all those enemy players and guilds who still like clashes and fights. My PC go broken yesterday, so I cannot say that see you on the battlefield, but soon…
You already run, hide and cap empty towers during night times*because you’re dead afraid of facing better players*..now you want me to leave at all?..lol sorry..I didn’t mean to scare you that much
I didn’t ask you to leave, but since you are capping my empty towers in my night time, and want it to stop, I suggested you leave since you are doing the exact thing you claim to want to remove. If you leave, it won’t happen to us anymore. SoS rarely runs from fights that are semi-balanced numbers.
…Lol this would come from someone on SoS….
Yeah, what’s your point? SoS OCX players should just leave the game completely or move geographically to NA? What would you like us to do, play GW2 only while you do?
Or just move to a server that has people to fight during those hours……
SoS has always been the kittentiest server to be matched up against ( I won’t say fight, because the fights are non existent). You have a PvD night crew propping up a dead server, You have no one to fight at night and we have no one to fight during the day, and no one that transfers to your server stays long because if you move up a tier you get kitten stomped because your players only know how to fight doors.

Well thank god there is EotM. Small glimmer of light in this game.

If you run the risk of destroying your game because of profits…just add a monthly subscription!
If they ever do that, I’ll quit. I play the game exactly because it’s B2P. If I wanted to play a monthly fee one I’d be playing WoW or SWTOR.
WvW Rank 3800 (Platinum Veteran) – PvP Rank 69 (Shark) – 25,9k Achievment Points
Mërcenaries [Sold] – Ferguson’s Crossing
Is gems sale all this company cares about?

It has been 4 years of the same crap : nightcapping and 24/7 outnumbered…super stacked servers on one side and the losers on the others, those who refuse or can’t pay 2000 gems to bandwagon to the fotm server
The population on the losing server keeps decreasing and decreasing, new players join in and get faced by a mob 10x the size of his team..get steamrolled and auto..quit
Nightcapping is a majore issues, it has been so for years, the PPT system is a complete failure. You know it already, you’re aware that some servers win every matchup by capping everything in the middle of the night.
Great game potential..but horrible management..atrocious
ANet is working on big scoring changes that will reduce the impact of night capping without completely removing it as a viableway to score points. But its a major and difficult change to implement so it will take time
We’ve had this sort of “debate” so many times with no resolution because no-one has been able to define “night” in an objective way.
Absolutely ridiculous.
I have already defined “night” in every response I have made on the subject: when total population drops so low that three unbalanced sides lead to exponential point gains. “Night” in WvW is when few are playing.
So scale PPT and PPK by total population. The lower the population, the lower PPT and higher PPK. Scaling happen 24/7, in the morning, noon or in the middle of primetime. Yes, even in the night. Delay the effect a couple of hours in order to not game the system and you’re set.
It’s completely universal, doesnt care about timezones, whether you are in the US or EU or anything in between. It simply is.
If you can argue that this is not objective, please. Go ahead.
