Anyone else think kills should automagically award the spoils to you rather than drop them on the ground next to you? This takes up time and just doesn’t make sense.

I could agree with this. Should it be a priority? No. Other things need to be looked at. But I do know I’ve probably missed quite a few badges from having no auto loot feature. I can live with it though.

Yeah this is annoying. I try to watch for them, but in the heat of combat I don’t always see them. I actually played WvW for several days before I even realized the bags were being dropped.

Know what is really annoying? new topics on things discussed to death in dozens of threads previous. A dev even commented on this very issue today.
