With the current state of updates in WvW, I can’t see another WvW season being fun at all. Unless they plan to add variety to WvW with new maps and new systems to give lesser population servers a fighting chance, I don’t see the point. On the Gw2WvW website, a poll showed 45%(198 votes) of the players thought another season was a bad idea. So why was it that in the ready up, they couldn’t stop talking about it?

So a very small group of people have voted on an unofficial site where not even the majority was against it, means that having another season is a bad idea…?

gw2wvw is a popular site for WvW people since this subforum has gotten dry and the moderators remove everything. Its a site for GvG/WvW. 439 votes were cast which is a substantial size to get a view.

It might very well be a popular site, but when the poll basically have less total votes than what I can see at times on a single server in WvW I wouldn’t really say it is especially representative.

I like the seasons, they make WvW more fun, at least for the first few weeks until it becomes obvious who will win! Also, who does not like the extra rewards, for playing WvW like you would normally anyway. It also attracts more players to give you more bags/loot.

Sure it can be improved on further but Grouch/Jessica have already said they will try to make more improvements for the next one. Getting to choose your own rewards this time around, getting unique skins only available via wvw and easier to get achievements, plus new matching system were all improvements from season 1. Lets not go overboard on negativity…

I will save my ideas for improving the seasons for the CDI next week.

Well then there is no representative way to tell what the opinion of WvW folk are because 439 is more than you would get on the forums.

I’m against it but for personal reasons. While in the off season my server (will remain nameless) looks out for itself, but during this farce of a tournament we were basically told who and what to attack to fix the score or we became outcasts. My guild and I never did partake of this garbage and as such were shunned and targeted by the opposing team (nobody offered to help us when they were on the map) and openly ratted on by our own team.

I can’t wait for reset myself, and if there is another tourney like this one, I’ll do what I have been doing for the last 3 weeks and just hangout in EotM.

The seasons are a stopgap measure put in place in lieu of developing actual new things.

It’s similar to them saying " you know, we’ve got this big map and people are bored, so lets design a set of weapons, once that’s done we can give those same weapons some shiny, market them separately and then make everyone fight for it for 2 1/2 months. that will shut them up"

Much easier to design a weapon skin and a tournament system than to develop fully fledged Maps and content.

Unless you are being rather ironic about your statistic sample comment, ignore the next few sentence.

You might want to take an actual statistic course statistics or even read to understand why your comment shows just how little you know about statistics.

Here is the most important thing about statistics, it can only work on a truly random sample of a specific population. That means, in this case everybody that does WvW has to have an equal chance at being selected to vote or give an answer.

The vote on that forum doesn’t meet that and here is why:
1. On average for most MMORPG, less than 5-15% of the players ever visits the official forum. What makes this worst, is that Gw2WWW.net is probably less than .00001% of the active players and or even less.

2. The type of people that visit WvWvW do not represent a sample of the population, but a very small (given that only 436 people voted) percentage of the possible number of WvW players. The people that are most likely to visit Gw2WWW are the extreme minority aka fringe. So they cannot be taken to represent the majority. Not even on the official forums. It would be like asking on the warrior forums if warriors should be nerfed. The answer will be reflect the general population perception of the class.

Tl;dR

The problem is that you just made up the percentage of people who use gw2wvw. They are not the minority. A lot of big wvw guilds/roamers/pptfolk use gw2wvw. It offers matchup, allows people to post roaming/gvg vids and posts polls. Gw2wvw is obviously not the extreme minority lel you dont have a clue what you are talking about. Go visit the actual forums and see how many guilds use.

Anet loves seasons because they have no intentions of doing anything substantial for WvW. Seasons are trivial to implement and give the illusion of content so they can string people along as long as possible.

But the nightcapping could possibly be your primetime. What is night for you is probably day for some other players. I would consider timezones outside of 6pm-11pm PST nightcapping. So does that mean points shouldn’t count if it’s not within my timezones?

I think it’s to make people buy gems to transfer to stacked servers so they can make even more money… For some servers it’s the other way around. They will buy the gems and buy your guild into their server to make sure they have the edge.

Single. Deadly. Thief. Capping all your bases at night :-)
Nothing feels better than that… Except that I’m not doing it at night, just at the time europe sleeps ^^

The way things are going, I say to Anet, don’t bother with a 3rd season. The rewards are lacklustre, half the people don’t even have the reward chest (including myself), and even if you do, you can’t cash in until June 3rd. Why bother?
