Since I have to get all the POIs I decided to que up for the WvW action. Now let me tell you I hate PvP with a passion as there are always people trying to act elitist, there are people always wanting to belittle you, there are always people who want to tell you what to do.

WvW did NOT dissapoint my views on PvP at all.

First I got in and was not sure what to do. There was some guy standing at the zone in point that immediately told me to “Move or leave because you are taking up valuable WvW que space”. Let me tell you buddy I myself just sat in the same que I had as much a right to be there as anyone else. I also need to say to you if your taking time yelling at me to leave then your not doing much to help yourself.

Then I go to grab some WvW POIs and in the intrim I get into a battle with a large wall of players from the other server. I have to say it was actually pretty fun. I am not all that great just a level 80 with yellow gear and I was able to hold my own. I was pulling out my elementals and I was smacking them around with my glyph of storms. I then was helping res pepole when someone came up and said “Don’t res anyone just attack”. Well excuse me Mr. Battl master. I am ressing the dead to help with the battle to get the enemy turned around.

I then learn about supplies and I see some pack mule things going and I decide ot help them get there faster bu using my speed buffs on it. Another person runs up and says “You should not waste your time speeding them up you get no rewards”. Isn’t the point of the escort to ensure noone kills them AND to speed them up to bring supplies to the places htey are going?

In all I have to say my first foray into WvW did not disappoint on the attitudes of the people who are plaing in WvW. Those of you playing WvW I hope you read this and take even a little thought on the way you treat players. Not all players have been in WvW before, not all players know all about what they are doing, not all players are asking for your elitist comments.

With that all being said I think I didn’t do too bad coming up with a monthly 50 kills in the matter of an hour when I had not done any monthlies before. I won’t be so reluctant to go in to get that achivement in the future.

I agree with what was said above. Myself, my guild and my alliance are pretty heavy in WvW but the above stuff is uncalled for. The guy telling you to move or leave due to taking up space is an idiot, and I hope he reads this and feels like more of an idiot for wasting space himself even standing there. WvW, despite what all you PvPers think, is NOT straight PvP. It is a mixed environment, designed for both types of people to have some form of enjoyment there. Personally I don’t really engage in the PvE aspects of it very often at all aside from the jumping puzzles, but there are plenty out there that try to do no PvP in WvW.

Dunno what server you are on friend but I suggest finding a different one, I know personally our home server has never had that kind of issue. I can only imagine you must be on Eredon Terrace, Henge of Denravi or another of the high pop WvWing servers.

you just ran into bad people, what about all the people that were just fighitng along side of you and didnt say aything bad to you etc.

You are taking the 3 instances of someone saying to do something different, which could be totally viable if they are coordinating on TS or something (except the first one, he was just being a jerk). And if you don’t want to be part of the overall strategy, just ignore them and continue doing what you are doing.

All the other people treated you just fine, if you are going to let 1/50th the population turn you off you should probably re-evaluate how you weigh others comments.

Sorry to hear you had such an awful experience. Might want to try later in the week, first night of wvwvw is usually a nightmare because everyone is trying to zerg objectives for easy karma.

Funny how my server was the complete opposite before the new matches.

I am on Crystal Desert as my server. I really don’t mind being on it. Outside this very shakey first day into WvW its been okay. People helping with quests when I need it, people ressing me when they see me down. All the rest has been okay until this.

@Sylv. I am not judging everyoen in there. I agree with what yo usay about the others but you know the saying it onlly takes a few apples to spoil a bunch. Once you get enough bad taste in your mouth you just decide its not woth the hastle of sorting through.

I’ll be back into WvW at least monthly because some of the larger battles were VERY fun. I had someone who would lock people down (still not sure which profession has that skill tht essentially immobilizes you) and I would be putting a lava font right on them. then as people were coming in to help him I would toss out a Meteor shower and a glyph of storms on them so enyone in the area helping was getting hit.

I guess if I can get this post out to enough WvWers to realize that not everyone needs to be barked at an maybe a bit more “talk” and a bit less shouting might help out in the future.

BTW one question totally off topic. How do you upgrade items at a location? THey were tlaking about upgrading supply routes and reinforcing walls? I just was there long enough to learn about being able to pick up supplies but not able to deliver them to a supply pad and the picked up supplies could only be used to either fix broken items or build siege weapons. I saw nothing about how to upgrade existing items. or is that onee of the things only guilds can do an I should just not worry about it?

guilds can claim points, then upgrade, unless there’s no one upgrading in areas its not too much of an issue.

And I guess i wont be seeing you on the field this week (Dragonbrand)

But this matching looks like it should be intense.

Well I would love to know if you remember who it was it was that was complaining at you then. If it was a member of our alliance then I will speak with them myself about toning it down. While we are serious WvWers we try not to bring ourselves down to the elitist level and try to just make sure everyone knows what the plan is. What they have said above is true though, people are pretty ridiculous the first night after a reset. Nobody was listening to our obviously organized commands earlier and despite trying to tell them what needed to be done, they kept yelling in chat for people NOT to do what we said and attack a garrison instead for instance. Either way, I could see some of our randoms beingkitten like that too, I’ve seen a few of them out there that don’t know when to shut up. Most of us in general though just try to make sure everyone is on the same page, and personally I usually try to coordinate the masses even when my guild is not backing me.

As to upgrades, you speak to the NPC with [upgrades] next to their name and pay for an upgrade. I suggest not doing this until you better understand it, because some upgrades really need to go before others for sure to make sure the keep/tower/camp is better off. Usually the guild in charge, the guild that claimed the spot that is, takes care of the upgrades. You are welcome to donate money to someone if they say they need it for upgrades as well. I’ve become quite proud of our masses for sending me money when we need upgrades and I’m trying to do it because the guild that claimed something just claims it for the hell of it and leaves it completely undefended.

Are you in need of a guild Bolthar, someone to actually play with and not have to worry about that kind of stuff?

you just ran into bad people

Pretty much this, although I do have some pet peeves about people being “PvE heroes” while we’re in a close or losing battle, especially during primetime hours.

That being said, dolyak’s not giving a reward is a silly reason to not escort them, especially if you can speed boost them. There’s few things a lone player can do to make a difference, but getting supply to where it needs to be is one of them. Killing enemy dolyaks to prevent supply deliveries is another.

Also, as Sisho said, this is probably more common on the larger WvW servers like Henge, in which case you might want to find a new home.

Unless you’re on a smaller server.

In which case, ¯\(°_o)/¯.

edit: You’re on CD? That’s unexpected. Most of the guys I know from there are pretty chill. D;

Guess that just reinforces the bit that I quoted.

Sorry Since I got kicked I cant even look at my logs. One of them was Sky something (this was not the one doing the one I didn’t care for the most at zone in)

Yep its one thing to enlighten people either through /team or /map to know what to do. Man that map is alot bigger than I thought it was. I for one would like for someone to tell me where the action is or where someone may need some reinforcements. In fact that was where I did one of my battles because I went where asked.

As to upgrades, you speak to the NPC with [upgrades] next to their name and pay for an upgrade. Thanks I’ll keep this all in mind. At this point I don’t intend to do this and will leave this for other guilds.

Are you in need of a guild Bolthar, someone to actually play with and not have to worry about that kind of stuff?

I really stay away from guilds. I did guilds in so many games and I always was the one to give until I was bleeding (through donations to helping otherp layers who just wjumped to naother guild) to have the guild turn around and die a horrible death. Right now I am about 95% from map completion mostly WvW and I have gotten a almost all of the jumping puzzles done. I have not done a single dungeeon and am thinking that I may need to visit at least each one once to get a feel for them. Who knows since there is SO much more I can do. I have yet to start on the high end gear either. I am just yellow with low end crystals in them. If you drop me a line in game we can met and chat never hurts ot have more friends.

Yeah if you need anything feel free to add me to your contact list and message me. We do dungeon runs in the guild fairly often during the week so if there is a particular one you are interested in I can always check with my guild members if they want to come.

Oh btw, as to where the action is. You can either just ask in /map or /team chat and someone will likely say what is going on, or you can look for crossed orange swords on the map near stuff your team owns, since this indicates 4+ people from one team in a fight there.
