All WvW is, is a numbers game. This requires ZERO skill and ZERO organization. Just follow the blue icon on your map and zerg through everything. It really gets old on both sides, the winning and the losing.

This week we seem to be at a tier where the numbers vs. us are far more than we can pull together in 3 days, let alone one evening. The fights that are more balanced in numbers are very good fights and worthy of running all the way back to get back in to.

Unfortunately this isn’t always the case. WvW has become nothing more than who has more online, wins.

This will not get fixed or even thought about until more people complain about it. This needs attention and quickly. There is nothing more to this game. WvW is really it. Even the PvErs are leaving. On my server no one really does spvp/tpvp. Fix it.

Dude, you are preaching to the choir. We have been voicing these issues for a couple months now. 1/3 of Gw2 population is going to leave if they dont fix culling, aoe cap, zerg fest, ect, ect in the next month or two.

You know, so many people complain, yet very few offer solutions.

It’s annoying to see so many people crying about the state of WvW, yet providing almost 0 input as to a solution. Honestly, if it is such an issue, why are you unable to poise a solution.

Of course WvW is a number game, and it always will be unless Anet throws a few servers together an we all get to wait in endless queues for the /70 fill up. Fact of the matter is, this type of pvp is WORLD vs. WORLD. If your world has more people willing to participate, then of course you are going to come out victorious. All servers have more than enough people to fill the /70 cap on each WvW map, but it is about getting those players engaged. Which some servers seem to be failing at.

It is a well acknowledge issue. Most people who defend it are usually players whose servers do it a lot. I love how I see some servers simply give up before a match even starts for reasons like “Their nightteam is way bigger than ours” or “We simply don’t have enough people”. WvW isn’t based around player skill. Entire matches are decided by numbers and night teams which takes any skill out of the equation. WvW is fun, but I do not take it seriously as a PvP venue and I do not take anyone who thinks they are good in WvW seriously.

My favorite tactic is using portal bombing to exploit the culling issue.

oh, come on, there is a lot of solutions to take out this numbers game, but it will be replaced by a skills game, and i don’t think anet wants that.

They prefer a nice and easy WvW where everybody can join in , not an elitist game @ this lovely DAOC , and that means zerg, no choice on that

Even with big numbers u need skill and strategy as also a small group can destroy u. If u have a few groups that have skill and stick together as a team u can make quite some difference.

But i agree moving up in tiers is all about numbers and coverage as the bigers servers will also show up with organized guilds and if it has multiple of them it will get quite hard for a underpopulated servers. we do have a weak timeslot and the other server has a huge asian zerg that takes almost everything during that time its 1 zerg of around 45+ and they do not have great tactics but big numbers…u see them in the 13vs 40 video.

All I read into this is that you’re losing and therefore infer that the other side who have more numbers also by your definition lack skill and organisation, not necessarily true.

However, it looks like this week, you lose. You may or may not have fun, but the game rules are that those with the most points after 7 days win, and in that respect those servers who have numbers or were smart enough to recruit do better, simples.

I am sorry but is your personal oppinion
Numbers are an great advantage but organization > numbers
And do not espect any intervention from A-net, they cannot force your server to go wvwvw. They will make it more atractive and update it, but they will not force ppls to go wvwvw, or punish the server you fight against.
You are not competitive , you will drop tier, if you are on bottom , try to drag your pve ppls intro wvw.

I agree. It’s one of my biggest problems with the game. I have an 80, and a few 20’s, and just logged on today after being away for about 3-4 months because I got super bored with it. I re-acclimated myself to my 80 (took all of 5min), and hopped on WvW. 20min later I logged out. Was just simple mindless zerging, and I personally just don’t have the patience to wait around until I find a good battle. Guess I’ll try again in another 4 months.

“it is about getting those players engaged” Is that the players fault for not being engaged? Or is it the devs fault for not making it engaging? IMO it’s the latter.

Easy solution. Whatever the cap for a BL is make it so each team needs to have X amount of players at multiple locations to force the division of a zerg. As it stands you can send you’re entire player cap in a BL to the same location and just zerg it down.

If you added all kinds of secondary objectives that also need to be done to take a keep for instance so you can’t have everyone at the same location it would create a lot of small group battles that would reward player skill rather than stacking 30 aoe circles.

Just my 2 cents.

Simple solution – if you don’t like zerging, quit following the blue dorito. Grab 4 of your buddies, and go flip some camps. Get maybe 4-5 of these groups hitting different objectives (while your blue dorito chasers grab keeps and stuff) and pretty soon, the entire map is your color.

Plus, if your opponents refuse to split their zerg(s), they’ll be limited on how many objectives they can hit at once. Nothing is funnier than seeing a zerg of 30+ hit a supply camp or escort a yak – because those 30 people are tied into doing ONE thing. If you’re smart, you have groups of people doing multiple things… and you win.

IMO, quit complaining, start playing. Too many whiners ’round these parts.

As a slightly more complicated solution to the whole number thing, what about creating ‘battlegroups’ of 2-3 worlds. Each battlegroup fights for joint victory, but could consist of a mix between high population (or those frequently on WvW) and low population (or those less frequently on WvW). This means low pop servers could join up with high pop servers and still have a chance of winning. At the end of the two weeks, the groups can be mixed again depending on server participation, getter more even numbers again.
