First of all, I know there is a quote/unquote ‘legitimate’ way for this to be achieved, and it’s not really a hack. But why should it be possible at all?

A fully fortified keep can have all of their siege destroyed by a handful of arrow carts, and there is no real method to counter that. Any siege built to take out the arrow carts will just be destroyed – along with anyone trying to built it. Tell me how a fully fortified keep, stocked with supply, with 90% upgrades, and set with cannons, oils, mortars, AC, siege, etc, defended with people and a commander, can get flipped in a few minutes, just because people can shoot behind the wall? I should be expecting golems against a guarded keep, not rams and long range arrow carts.

People can shoot behind the gate and walls, keep an army from defending, and it’s allowed? Why is this still happening? It’s not the same as mesmer portals or cata/treb spots. You can counter those. You can’t counter ‘zoom hacked’ arrow carts.

Anet has no way of detecting it, even if you record someone doing it which I have done, I’ve recorded a certain commander doing it multiple times and sent it to anet and they dont ban. It just comes down to either not caring on there side or they have no way to prove zoomhacking. also inb4lock/delete.

So basically you’re forced to do exactly what they do to keep the playing field level.

Yes or play non fear match as the rest of the servers.

They should add a line-of-sight check on the arrow cart and be done with it.

Here’s a thought. Kill them before they can build the ac?
Or even if they do destroy all your siege, there’s nothing stopping you from killing them then rebuilding more.

Here is a thought, what if you are low on people at that point and your way of saving the keep at that point is to use the siege you built to defend it?

Also it comes down to two things, don’t use cheats, that is low and even worse to defend it, and if this is not fixed then this should be allowed for all players so that all can do the same thing without cheating.

thats why you have gate trebs. they can’t be hit by ac’s even with zoom hacks if you place them correctly.

It’s not really a hack, if you place an ac at certain points you can throw the ground targetting over the gate’s gap and kill all siege, also people with multiple monitors are able to even shoot further into the inner section. Why this is allowed by Anet, have no idea.

They should have made the arrowcarts fire like the catapults and the trebuchets – aim by manually rotating the cart, fire in an arc by charging – and be done with it. No more line of sight issues, no more instant response, no more 2-3 AoE circles from one cart, no more FoV hacks.

You don’t need to download a program to do a ‘zoom hack’. I suppose it’d be more of a…glitch exploit? I don’t know what you’d call it.

They could integrate punkbuster to stop the hacks.

Basically, in order to accomodate people with multiple screens, and using NVIDIA graphics drivers in doing so, the game doesn’t use fixed aspect ratios. This allows people with multiple screens to essentially drag their screen across 2-3 screens (keeping the same height). This gives an aspect ratio that can let people have greater “access” to different points of view for throwing down AC AoEs. While its not an exploit in anyway (no more than comparing someone playing with high graphics vs low graphics), I think most servers/guilds consider it cheap.

There are also MANY AC placements that people don’t know about that allow even people with normal aspect ratios to get stuff inside. You can blame the fact that AC’s don’t need LOS and can go through walls.
