I’m getting trouble to get killed first instead of commander driver by any enemy zergs. I realized that I’m only gold rank in the guild. Enemy guild raids thought I’m commander… I’m here for a fun fight zerg. Should I join the Gold Ranked Guild for the balance fights?

Are you getting trouble to surviving in fight fields too if you are only highest rank in guild too?

Ranks have only a loose correlation to skill/aptitude/effectiveness as WXP is unevenly distributed for player activity.

If you think you have a better grasp of tactics and have a group willing to follow you then encourage them to call target on you/join voice and see how the run goes. If you routinely do well then go ahead and pick up a tag and see if you can be an asset to your server.

Alternatively you might be dying because you aren’t listening to your commander, in which case you should jump into voice and try to move with him/her while utilizing combo fields to help your group. Discipline wins large scale fights.

Either way, it’s a good idea to play with a group of people that have similar experience and play style, but keep in mind ranks provide a poor metric for measuring such things.

@arkRazor: Yeah, it is some reasons I got problem to get down quickly. I do hardcore play on wvw and very good stack on the commander without using the Teamspeak because I’m a deaf lady player. Yeps. When the start of reset, I getting trouble to surviving and be active like I’m commander to every enemy zerg. Also I want to share funny experience. The enemy zerg targeted me down quickly but our zerg is still stacking on the friendly commander that a enemy zerg don’t realize I’m not commander. lol, It was fun.

OP, this same thing happened to my Necro when we first faced “new” opponents during the League. The enemy mistakenly chose to focus my Necro (higher ranked) rather than the gawdily dressed Commander. It was very apparent focus fire.

I simply re adjusted my positioning for the few engages it took them to work out the error.

For those that mis read the OP : Sometimes the enemy mistakes the higher ranked for the commander, it should not happen but it does.

Everyone above gold rank is just a zerger , glad you told us what we already knew.

Depends on which servers you’re fighting against. If you’ve fought against the same server(s) for a long time, they’ll know who’s commanding almost instantly. It’s even easier to pick up if it’s against a guild group as opposed to a pug group. When I tag up, I instantly get focus on by 5 or so glass cannon rangers by enemy zergs, which drops your health really really quickly (each rapid fire does up to 5k damage, combine that with another 4 guys doing the same thing and guards not having a great health pool… yeah…)

Mind you, I’m still only in early silver ranks as well.

If you’re the one getting focused on and not your driver though, that just gives your zerg a greater chance of better movement and direction. Think of it as taking one for the team.

If you are getting focus fired then use it to benefit the rest of the group. It’s great fun pulling 5 or more of their players well out of position allowing the rest of your group to roflstomp their zerg.

If I see a gold rank among a group / zerg, means … this guy/gal will be the first target I will aim and try everything to shut you down! This goes equal to a silver rank among bronze ranks!

Instant reasons in the split second I spot you:
- killing a gold rank will give me higher chances to drop a precursor weapon … maybe it’s a myth but have to make sure!
- killing a silver rank give me higher chances for a drop of a rare/exotic piece of armor or weapon… since low ranks give me loot bags of low quality drops!
- maybe for same reason that guy Jack McCall shoot Wild Bill Hickok …

i guess you talk about it because someone posted the screenshot of the overgrowth mithril invader with ultimate dominator title

maybe you didnt notice it but the screenshot was not about the title at all….

Gold rank and still need to L2p…….

I always focused higher ranked players.

Ranks mean very little in terms of skill, you could roll around in EotM and get a pretty high rank with little to no actual understanding of WvW or skill in PvP.
